Snowmobiler97 Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 anybody comparing Leino to Connoly needs to take deep breath and think that thru. Connoly had plenty of time to show his worth. I'm not gonna bash the guy because he's been hit n miss when our entire team has been hit n miss over a span of less than ten games,. Have you seen the hugeeee contract that leino has, just like connolly's. Lack of precision, much like Connolly had. The knack to make the one decent play and then suck. Just like Connolly, so maybe you should take a breath and really think it 'thru'

Remember, it's very early in the season and it's easy to see that this team is not yet fully in sync with each other. Give Leino and the team time. There shouldn't be any doubt that Leino is a more skilled player than Connolly.

Just like Connolly, so maybe you should take a breath and really think it 'thru' that wasn't his point. his point is connolly had 5+ years to earn that money. Leino has had a handful of games. But I agree he has been very disappointing so far.
LGR4GM Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 to much fancy crap, not enough hard play. i dont wanna talk about this one right now.
darksabre Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Everyone seems to be forgetting that Tampa was a playoff team last year and gave the Stanley Cup champs a hard time. They aren't a bad team.

Lieno's skills are nowhere near the level of Tim Connolly. I would still rather have Leino because of all the extra baggage that comes with Connolly. When it comes down to skill and skill alone Leino can't hold Connolly's jock. As far as the game? The Sabres made too many mistakes to expect to win against a team like Tampa. I'm chalking this up to a early season road clunker. They have player well enough on the road this season to where a night like tonight can be expected.

87168 Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Well said. We will agree to disagree. Hahaha AGREED on another note, Has anyone heard an update on Ennis?

Give Leino time. We've had a successful start to the season, and just got beat by an eastern conference final team. The Sabres still have some growing pains. Everyone seems to be forgetting that Tampa was a playoff team last year and gave the Stanley Cup champs a hard time. They aren't a bad team. Yes. This. Everyone should take a step back and give Leino some more time to adapt to a new system. The Sabres are just as good a team as they were this morning.
spndnchz Posted October 23, 2011 Author Report Posted October 23, 2011 Giveaways all game. Lindy got beat this game. On to the next one.
X. Benedict Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Tampa's best and most disciplined game. That trap was really good. Buffalo D men had a strong game. 2 goals against on the road should be enough. Hard to practice for the only 1-3-1 team the last date of the road trip. Gotta get those points back Tuesday.
JJFIVEOH Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 FWIW, Tim Kennedy scored the GWG in Florida tonight..................
sabres1970 Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 I didn't get to watch the game but regardless you can't get mad at the boys tonight. Last game of a road trip, surely fatigued, good team going all out at home. No problem guys, we'll smack 'em at home on Tuesday.
LabattBlue Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Game thoughts... - Four man-advantage situations(3 PP plus when Miller was pulled), one worst than than the next. - I thought Miller had it easy in Florida until I watched Garon tonight. I don't think he had to make a tough save. - How do you forget that St. Louis is behind you? - Tough to pick when when there was so little offense, but I thought Gerbe was their best forward for the 2nd game in a row. - I have always been a fan of Roy, and I know it has been reported that he is fighting a injury, but I have not cared for his game much at all this year.
OverPowerYou Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Im ready to see weber in for mags Agreed. It's time for everyone to stop riding the "MAGS" train. Put Weber in the lineup, he earned it with his play in last years playoff series.
bunomatic Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Agreed. It's time for everyone to stop riding the "MAGS" train. Put Weber in the lineup, he earned it with his play in last years playoff series. As did Gragnani.
thesportsbuff Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Agreed. It's time for everyone to stop riding the "MAGS" train. Put Weber in the lineup, he earned it with his play in last years playoff series. I've been advocating putting Weber in the lineup since basically Game 2, but MAG played much better last night and against Florida than the previous three games... so if he didn't get benched after Montreal, he definitely won't get benched after two decent performances following that. At least, that's my opinion. Maybe others saw it differently, I thought he was okay tonight. But I do hope Weber gets in sometime soon..
LGR4GM Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Consistency is lacking in huge amounts from the lines... the only exceptions are Gerbe, Miller, Vanek, Pommers, Regehr have been fairly consistent but the rest of the team has been up and down, the problem tonight was everyone was down except maybe Gerbe and Regehr. Sorry to bring this up every time the guy has a down game but MAG was meh tonight (so was myers, ehrhoff, and leopold) it is time to bring back hecht and weber. Ennis needs to sit for a game or two to get his head straight and for the 5th game I have felt our defense again lacked enough grit. Teams are taking liberties on Miller and although I think we held together fairly well tonight, a few days off will help everyone. Enroth is in, in 1 of the next two games if Ruff plans to keep the goalie rotation going. Time to regroup and breath.
Formerly Allan in MD Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 Gragnani is doing fine. Give it a rest. Sure Weber can play but Gragnani is so very mobile and makes the long pass better than just about anyone I've seen on the team. He's also very comfortable on the PP. Plus, Gragnani hasn't played that many NHL games and will only get better. Yes, Weber should play but when you have so many toys, some don't necessarily get into your action scheme until something else breaks. I'd rather hope that nothing breaks, we keep winning and improving, and we can be comfortable with our depth. Also, if anyone might be worth sitting for Weber it's Sekera. He and Gragnani play a similar type of game but I think Gragnani has more upside.

He's a mediocre player, as many seem to have forgotten.

He and Gragnani play a similar type of game but I think Gragnani has more upside. I always looked at it this way too, but over the first seven games, it's been apparent to me that Sekera is much better defensively than he is given credit for, and is better than Gragnani in that aspect.
Eleven Posted October 23, 2011 Report Posted October 23, 2011 I didn't see the game and I'm glad to have missed it. I do NOT like the Sabs being shut out, even though I can accept a loss from time to time. Even so, I would hope that there aren't a lot of chicken little posts, as a result of a bad loss, above. I'll have to read through the stuff in the AM.

Also everyone keeps talking about MAGS great passes and offensive upside... he has 3pts, that does not make up for what he lacks in defensive ability. What's this yearning for Hecht? He's a mediocre player, as many seem to have forgotten. Hecht is a good 2 way player and I think his steadying play might help a team with some struggling younger guys get on track. Hecht is mediocore only when it comes to scoring, but like Pommers he is very sound in his own end.
