Ranger Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 As a result the excitement with the sabres this year, I signed up for the Center Ice package. So far this year I have not gotten the sabres feed once yet. I have only gotten the opponents broadcast. So is there some disagreement between MSG and the center ice package?
Realist Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 I haven't been home for most of the games so far this year, but I haven't had the Buffalo feed for the couple that I have seen.

Cable?
IKnowPhysics Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 I have DirecTV and Center Ice, and I have been able to get the home broadcasts on MSG in SD (638) and HD (638-1).
MattPie Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 Cable can be highly variable between operators (Comcast for me). The first year I had Center Ice (2006 or 2007), it seemed like I NEVER got the Sabres feed. The next year, it seemed like the Sabres feed was on more often than not.
Ohiofan Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 You must have cable, yes? I have Direct TV, and live out of market. I always get both the Sabres and the opponents broadcasts. Seems to me that for optimum Center Ice viewing, you gotta go with Direct TV.
Ranger Posted October 19, 2011 Author Report Posted October 19, 2011 I have Time Warner cable in Maine.
LastPommerFan Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 I have Time Warner cable in Maine. I also have TWC here in Cincinnati. It's a bandwidth issue. While direct TV can pretty much push as much as they want through the satellite signal, the cable operators must make choices as there is limited bandwidth available and it is shared with ever increasing internet traffic. You may notice that if you leave your box on an HD channel for a while it will automatically change to another SD channel. This is a result of what they call signal switching. The HD signals take up a lot more bandwidth, and by changing the channel on you they can free up bandwidth. This bandwidth scarcity also means they must choose which signal to carry as they don't have room for both broadcasts in SD and HD. Long story slightly longer, get DVR and sinc your opponents broadcast with the WGR internet radio broadcast of Rick and Harry's call and it should be slightly more enjoyable.
Calvin Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 Comcast Center Ice here, not a single Sabres feed as yet.. grrr %$#%$#@
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 I have Time Warner cable in Maine. thats the problem get on Directv and problem solved
buftex Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 As a result the excitement with the sabres this year, I signed up for the Center Ice package. So far this year I have not gotten the sabres feed once yet. I have only gotten the opponents broadcast. So is there some disagreement between MSG and the center ice package? I have Time Warner in Austin. I have been getting Center Ice for years, and, I can tell you, while you will get some of the Sabres broadcasts, more often than not, it is the opposing teams feed.
billsrcursed Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 This could be wrong, but I believe during the free trial period, Cable companies that offer CI opt to use larger stations to simulcast, like FSN, TSN, etc... If I'm not mistaken, MSG's feed seems more usual after the free trial, or so it's seemed in the past. Even the games that offer home/away feeds seem to only be between teams showing on such channels. Pure speculation based on absolutely nothing, but I've noticed it nonetheless.
billsrcursed Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 ... And just like that, there's a home and away feed for the game tonight.
5th line wingnutt Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 I have directv in NC. On Tuesday night the Sabres HD feed was available on 638-1 MSG. It was also available on the Center Ice channel. First time this year the Sabres HD feed was available on any channel. Let's see what happens tonight.
Ohiofan Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 I don't think that there is any rhyme or reason to any of it. We all have different situations, and while there are variables such as location and provider, a lot of us have the same variables and yet our individual situation can still be different. I give up trying to figure it all out.

Pens and Habs were both on MSG HD 638-1 on DTV
repster Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 Centre Ice up here in Canada almost always uses the home team's feed for SD, so I do get a really good amount of Sabres games (when it's not on TSN or VS whcih gets simulcast on TSN2 most of the time, but never the MSG HD feed. Ever. Really sucks when I have to choose between RJ and HD, but...at least it's better than not being able to see it at all (especially when you're half an hour from the arena and the Leafs are your home TV region).
sabres1970 Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 This will be my first game watching with the Sabres feed. (Fios, NJ). Very happy, but it better remain this way.
sabres1970 Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 Never mind, no Buffalo feed for me. This blows.
themaze2332 Posted October 20, 2011 Report Posted October 20, 2011 ... And just like that, there's a home and away feed for the game tonight. Scheduled to have both games, but no game on Buffalo channel here in MD. Annoyed. Haven't heard RJ yet :(
billsrcursed Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 Hope you guys were able to find the Sabres feed last night. It ended up being on a different channel than what it was scheduled to be on.
