North Buffalo Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Any word on weather Weber starts tonight?? It is his hometown... Did he somehow get in Linde's doghouse? Or does he have an undisclosed injury?
X. Benedict Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Weber is healthy. I'd like to see him in the line-up. Good time for a disciplined road game.
james duncan Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 As much as I'd like to see Weber play, particularly in his hometown, I am going to guess Lindy gives MAG another start to try to put last night's stinker behind him. Won't be upset either way. I am not sure what they were trying on the PP but sending the D in deep and having wingers cover the points was a miserable failure.
LastPommerFan Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 I think we'll see the same tactics, but the D-men will be a little more hesitant to jump in on every rush on the PP. That might end up being better from an offensive standpoint. I'd like to see more of MAG loading the Erhoff Cannon than Vanek covering the rim. Stafford and Myers played their best games so far last night, I'd like to see more minutes for Myers/Regehr, maybe even just use the 5-5 lines on the PP. Stafford Roy got it going last night, while Adam Vanek Pommers saw a bit of a drop off in performance, terrible PP, although 5-5 they were an OK unit. Leino Ennis Boyes, it's your turn to step up. EDIT: Just saw this stat - Adam was 4 for 12 on faceoffs, that will slow that line down every time. Pommer was actually better in relief (4 for 10). Leino was even worse. When your "top" two lines lose two-thirds of their faeoffs, you spend a lot of time chasing the puck, just begging to make a mistake.

It wasn't so much the D going deep, but 1. They stayed low too long and on the rushes up the ice Carolina stood people up, broke a guy in the opposite direction and Grags seemed at loss what to do as he approached the blue line. Either get the puck deep if you are going to go into the teeth of their D or do a cross ice pass earlier, but don't slow down. Sekera is better at going full speed after a chip and chase, but by slowing down, he left the forwards standing around waiting for him at the blueline unable to generate any speed to support him (Grags) so it made it easier for the Canes to counter attack.
SabresMojo Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Lets see how this team fares tonight after a tough loss last night. Going on the road to a Pittsburgh team who has proven early this season that they can win without the help of Cindy....err Sidney. Hopefully this new Sabres team doesn't let one loss get to them. I believe we'll bounce back tonight and get a few by Flower, as Miller posts a shutout. #LetsGoBuffalo
CallawaySabres Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 With the amount of Dmen Buffalo has, Weber needs to play and pick who you want to come out...Pitt is a perfect team to. play tonight to see how these guys can play against a Cup contender.

Yeah about halfway through the game Pommers was taking the primary draw. Hopefully Goose can school young Adam on how to not get raped in the faceoff circle
SabresFan526 Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 I think tonight's a good game to get Weber in. Put Sekera on the PP point to set-up Ehrhoff for the one-timers in for Gragnani. Play Sekera and Weber together as the bottom pair. I think the puck movement was good last night on the PP and can continue with that, they'll score a goal tonight on the PP. Need to play a little tighter and closer in on the box on the PK instead of being over aggressive and leaving someone wide open for a rebound shot or cross ice pass. I think all the mistakes from last night are easy to clean up and tonight's a good test against a really good team. Let's get the win tonight on what I expect to be an Enroth game.

I'll believe it when I see it, but I don't think so. What I want to see out of tonight is a win against one of my least favorite teams in hockey. It would be a great win to bounce back from a tough loss. I want to see Vanek bounce back and prove that he isn't his own worst enemy, I want to see the Leino line score, and I want to see Ehrhoff get a goal. If Cindy Sidney was playing tonight, one of my expectations would be 4 facepunches administered to him by Weber.
DumbPuck Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Ruff seems to be investing a lot and putting a lot of faith in MAG by including him in our primary PP team. This leads me to believe that MAG would NOT be the one to be scratched for Weber in a game in which we felt the defensive defenseman is necessary (like tonight's game). I could see him scratching Sekera before scratching MAG. It would be too much of a negative impact on our PP too not have MAG in the lineup in my opinion (After last night's PP that might not be sayin much hehe).

They didn't invest 40 million for erhoff to not be a ppqb, with Myers on the second team and this team being in need of some grit/big body checks I see MAG taking a night off. That's my opinion but i feel it has some merit.

I was basically saying that I could see Ruff scratching SEKERA over MAG if he ever felt he needed Weber suited up.
X. Benedict Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 I don't expect weber to play mostly because the special teams breakdowns are nothing Weber can really help much with. That - and I don't think now is the time to juggle new pairings. All I really got is that I want to see him out there. At some point this season I bet lindy wiLl dress 7 D.
cdexchange Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Hamilton just tweeted Enroth starting tonight. Wow.

LaLaLaFontaine Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 By the paddle of Enroth..... I like this move, it shows that he will be playing more often as backup than Lalime. Hope he will do well. Lets go Buffalo!
Eleven Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Hamilton just tweeted Enroth starting tonight. Wow. Good.
87168 Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Im glad that Enroth gets the nod for tonight. Miller was not solid last night, don't get me wrong. Im not placing the blame on him at all but he doesn't really seem to play well against Carolina.
dudacek Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 Last night’s game is sitting better with me this morning. We sucked in one obvious area, but overall the team looked pretty good. We created all kinds of offense. Each line had good stretches. We answered the bell physically. And we didn’t spend a lot of time in our own zone. Even with the breakdowns, we’re gonna win that one more times than we lose it. A few other observations: • Stafford looked like a man out there. If Carolina whiffs on the late power play, then all of the talk today might be about how he clutched up. • That Brad Boyes looked like he’s worth a second-round pick, but I question whether he can ever move high enough up the depth chart to be truly effective. It might take an injury to show his true worth. • The Leino line looked close, but I remain skeptical. Ville and Tyler are too similar. • Tyler Myers looked gawky at times. At others, that contract extension looks like a bargain. Can’t wait until this guy finds his groove. Can you say Larry Robinson? • Sekera played well in his minor role. I love Weber, but Andrej doesn’t deserve to be scratched. Pens were a team I thought looked better than us every time we played them last year — just more focus, more want-it. Our first back-to-back, coming off a tough loss, it will a real test. It’s a game I’d expect last year’s team to lose. And I like the Enroth decision. He should be playing every fourth game.
Andrew Amerk Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 • The Leino line looked close, but I remain skeptical. Ville and Tyler are too similar. I think that line works, they just need to shoot more. Ennis is great dipsy doodling around with the puck, and Leino is impossible to get off the puck. I think the idea is for them to do these things until Stafford or whoever gets open. Lets go Jhonas! P.S. - it's game 4 already. Why are numerous people still spelling Ehrhoff wrong?
LaLaLaFontaine Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 I think yesterday someone posted a video of a brawl wit Ray, Barnaby and May as hockey porn. No i won't post a video but i want to let you participate to a very happy moment of mine. I just managed to create an US account with the PS3 network and i was able to install the gamecenter app and the best is, it works. I can really watch HD hockey on my 40 inch TV. This is almost as good as the day i received my tickets for the Sabres game in Berlin. I am so excited about this. Tomorrow i will wake up and watch the game 5 hours later as live on my TV. Sorry if i bore you, but last year i saw nearly no game and this year i can see nearly every game in HD. This is the best hockey porn subscription available ( yeah only the live shows are better) LIFE IS GREAT!! Lets go Buffalo!
TheMatrix31 Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 3-2 either way tonight. They won't have Malkin. That's a good thing I suppose, lol.
