Claude_Verret Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 Time for everyone to go on record before the first puck drop. 1.) Sabres points division/ conference finish / playoff finish (if applicable) 2.) Sabres leader in goals & points 3.) Stanley Cup finals prediction 4.) Any other NHL/Sabres prediction(s) you feel like making Sabres: 102 pts. 2nd NE divison / 4th in conference / lose in ECF Vanek: 39 goals Roy: 78 points SC: Capitals vs. Red Wings. Red Wings in 6. Enroth will play 30+ games.

I don't like the "Ryan Miller will be severely injured for 2 months" prediction. ;) Sabres: 51 wins, 110 pts, 1st in NE, 2nd in EC, I will predict as fas as they will play in the ECF Goals: Vanek 41 Points: Roy 82 SC: Someone from the East (see above) vs. San Jose finally gets their act together. Crosby plays fewer than 20 games.

Claude_Verret Posted October 5, 2011 Author Report Posted October 5, 2011 I don't like the "Ryan Miller will be severely injured for 2 months" prediction. ;) Well I figure if he maintains his level of play from last year that Lindy will play him in 20 games regardless, but I'm getting him to 30 with Miller sitting with some minor bumps and bruises because of the confidence Lindy will have in Enroth.

Ah! I thought you were leaning toward a Miller injury, turns out you were thinking Lindy would have a stroke. [insert appropriate emoticon]

bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 My Wish : we beat canes in a sweep for ECF and win the cup against Detroit My Prediction we lose ECF to Wash or Pitt ( assuming Crosby ever returns ). We win NE with 101 points finish 2nd in East. Vanek gets 40 and Enroth plays 24 games

We win NE with 101 points finish 2nd in East. Vanek gets 40 and Enroth plays 24 games While that would be beyond sweet, I don't think I could take another Canes / Sabres ECF with all the fans coming out of the woodwork down here. I'd have a stroke. My hope is the Canes don't ever make the playoffs again and the Sabres are able to contribute to dashing their final hopes like we did last year.
inkman Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 I still don't get the cane hate. It was one series.

Gerbe gets 2 fighting majors.
inkman Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 So far everyone is predicting 100+ points. If I were ever to make such a bold prediction and the Sabres failed, my level of self loathing would be unapproachable. I guess it's just numbers to everyone else.
Claude_Verret Posted October 5, 2011 Author Report Posted October 5, 2011 I still don't get the cane hate. It was one series. If you lived here you would. Or come down for one of the games this year, wear your Sabres gear, mind your own business and see how you're treated.
inkman Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 I understand if you are in enemy territory, although I wouldnt wear anything too overstated if I was there (maybe a cap), but I know there are plenty of WNY that have just as much hatred of this fledgling franchise.
chileanseabass Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 Sabres 108 Pts, 1st in NE, 2nd in Conf, lose in ECF Vanek 42 goals, 44 assists, 86 points Finals: SJ over Pit in 7
LastPommerFan Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 I still don't get the cane hate. It was one series. I think it's the fans, not the team. So far everyone is predicting 100+ points. If I were ever to make such a bold prediction and the Sabres failed, my level of self loathing would be unapproachable. I guess it's just numbers to everyone else. 100 pts ain't what it used to be. 8 teams last year, 11 the year before that (including 7 of the 8 playoff teams from the west) More than half the playoff teams had 100 pts or more since the lockout and the addition of the 3-point-game.

Any other NHL/Sabres prediction(s) you feel like making Sabres: 103 points, #1 in NE division, #3 in EC, advance to EC Finals Goals: Vanek with 40. Points: Roy with 74 SCF: Vancouver over Washington Other: Enroth will get less than 24 starts. Ennis will break 60 points. Stafford will score 33 or more goals. Boyes and Hecht will each have pretty good contract years. Leafs will miss playoffs again and Brian Burke will retire after the season.
carpandean Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 1. 98 points, 2nd in NE, 5th in EC 2. Vanek 38g, Ehrhoff 74pts 3. San Jose vs. Washington, so one playoff choker will lose it rep 4. Pominville will be spelled Pomminstein 50 times on this board.
eball Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 I still don't get the cane hate. It was one series. You needed to be a Sabres fan living in NC. Then you'd get it.
Derrico Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 1. Sabres 108 points / 1st in division/ 2nd in conference/ I've got to say this is finally the year of the Buffalo and we win it all! 2. Vanek 41 goals/ Roy 80 points 3. Buffalo over Vancouver 4. Myers scores 20 goals
Assquatch Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 So far everyone is predicting 100+ points. If I were ever to make such a bold prediction and the Sabres failed, my level of self loathing would be unapproachable. I guess it's just numbers to everyone else. My hotel in Vegas had the Sabres over/under for points at 97.5. I feel like the over is a lock but do I really want to tie up $110 until April to potentially win $100? Nope.
wonderbread Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 Points 101 Sabres gonna bring that cup home. Sabre fans riot in celebration bringing the city to its proverbial knees for weeks. Buffalo over Detroit in 6 Vanek pots 41, Stafford get 26 and ennis ends up with 72 points total.
spndnchz Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 Am I the only one that believes in bad juju? An entertaining season, make the playoffs, home ice advantage, with a full unhurt roster is all I want.
thesportsbuff Posted October 5, 2011 Report Posted October 5, 2011 I understand if you are in enemy territory, although I wouldnt wear anything too overstated if I was there (maybe a cap), but I know there are plenty of WNY that have just as much hatred of this fledgling franchise. I hate the Canes. I don't consider them a "rival" team or what have you, but yeah, I hate them. They beat us fairly, sure, but that doesn't mean the better team won. I know it's just excuses but seriously 4, 5 of our starting defensemen out? Any time Rory Fitzpatrick, Doug Janik, Jeff Jilson and Nathan Paetsch are on the same d-core, your team should start with a three goal handicap. And to be up 2-1 going into the third period.... then a fluke deflection goal and it all fell apart. It hurt. It hurt bad. For me, it hurt worse than '99, because I was only 9 years at the time and though I watched Sabres games all the time, I wasn't as emotionally attached back then. 05-06 was their first shot at glory that I was old enough to appreciate and I am still bitter of the way it ended. Give me Jay McKee or Tim Connolly in Game 7 and Buffalo wins the cup that year. The loss to Carolina stings way more than the loss to Ottawa the following year to me... don't know what it was, but in 05-06 beating Ottawa in that playoff series sealed it for me. We had gone back and forth with them all season until Vanek scored that around the world shot on Hasek to win their last meeting of the regular season in a shootout. In 06-07 I pretty much knew we didn't stand a chance vs Ottawa. We got manhandled all season and we got manhandled even worse in the playoffs. /tangent
