DumbPuck Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Boyes is having a hearing with the NHL today for his head hit last night. BOYES or BOYCE? I think you meant Boyce.
Eleven Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 BOYES or BOYCE? I think you meant Boyce. http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?p=37069489 She means Boyes.
LGR4GM Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 BOYES or BOYCE? I think you meant Boyce. chz doesn't make mistakes shes like female jesus
spndnchz Posted September 25, 2011 Author Report Posted September 25, 2011 MBossy's got it up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJOQNXifbHE I'd question whether the head is the principal point of contact. It's obvious he gets hit in the head but was he targeting it? Or did Colborne turn into it?
nobody Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 It looks to me that the elbow hits the lowered shoulder and that was the main impact. Then you do get some shoulder bumping the head - but that is secondary to the initial contact.
Eleven Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Looked to me like Boyes was trying to avoid him altogether.
DumbPuck Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 I find it odd that they are reviewing this hit but not the hit from behind on Gaustad early in the first.
Weave Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 I'm betting he gets suspended. If the roles were reversed I know I'd want Colborne in a chat with Shanny.
X. Benedict Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 I thought Boyes played a very strong game. Perhaps he can't be expected to do that playing with Hecht and McCormick (which looks like the 4th line by process of elimination), but with Vanek he and Adam looked great. And beyond that, Boyes just looked much more aggressive ... Perhaps the combo of a new system and playing center had him tentative last season. And who knows, maybe someone was scouting the game and liked what they saw and decides to make a deal. Boyes had a very strong game. He's got great hands and vision, now if he plays as strong on the puck good things will happen.
Tom Backyard Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Brad Boyes suspended for two preseason games: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=589804
nobody Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Brad Boyes suspended for two preseason games: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=589804 Now we wait to see what the video says.
carpandean Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Brad Boyes suspended for two preseason games: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=589804 I knew it was a bad idea to trade for that thug ... ;)
SabresFan526 Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Well, the elbow to Colborne's head last night was enough for Shanny to suspend Boyes for 2 Preseason games. At least it's only the preseason. He's looked pretty good thus far and the pass on Adam's goal was really nice. Link Here
thesportsbuff Posted September 25, 2011 Report Posted September 25, 2011 Fair suspension, but Colby Armstrong's hit on Paul Gaustad in the same game was much worse in my opinion. Any word of a suspension or anything for him?
shrader Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 I hope they carry this heavy enforcement over into the regular season. It's actually starting to look like they really do care. Of course, the next step will be what happens when an Ovechkin or Crosby makes this hit.
X. Benedict Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Flashback......Boyes is a league badass. ;) vs. Tony Lydman
X. Benedict Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Shannytube is up. http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=35&id=124715
X. Benedict Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Shannytube is up. http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=35&id=124715 "Going forward Boyes will be considered a repeat offender."
Weave Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 If this holds into the regular season I could see quite a few players suddenly defanged. Anyone fear Chris Neil anymore if he isn't willing to headhunt?
RazielSabre Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Good call, good to see Shanny is being a tough, even if it does mean no Boyes for 2 games.
spndnchz Posted September 26, 2011 Author Report Posted September 26, 2011 I guess Cooke won't be playing much this year.
That Aud Smell Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 If this holds into the regular season I could see quite a few players suddenly defanged. Anyone fear Chris Neil anymore if he isn't willing to headhunt? :clapping:
korab rules Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 Boyes will now be a repeat offender? What a joke. The first time he hits someone in blue and gold and he gets two games for it. Won't have to worry about that happening again. And still no word on why the hit from behind on Gaustad isn't being looked at... Let me guess - Chara and Ovechkin are still virgins in the league's eyes.
Eleven Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 If this holds into the regular season I could see quite a few players suddenly defanged. Anyone fear Chris Neil anymore if he isn't willing to headhunt? Has Neil ever been held accountable for anything? Will he ever be? Or will he always be the player who gets away with it?
