Wife is watching the Biggest Loser so I'm getting some bonus points 'watching' it with her. Everyone's updates on here are absolutely saving me. How's the two D men looked thus far? I've only seen maybe one or two comments on Regher.

They've both been solid. Ehrhoff has looked like the sniper he is supposed to be (1 goal one assist tonight).

MAG, not so much. He's made a couple turnovers tonight ... paired with some mixed play last night... I dunno maybe he's in a rut.

Kassian, Foligno, Luke Adams: I still want them in the AHL.

I was bitching last night about not liking Kaleta on Gerbe's line. I want to see Gerbe - Gaustad - Boyes line.

Interesting game; there was lots to "see".

Not a lot of huge, glaring errors like we've seen in seasons past at this time.

I think probably all of the kids could use some seasoning in Rochester. They (the kids) looked like they were out of gas by the latter half of the third.

At this point, the Stafford-Leino-Ennis line is a lot of flash, but no finish. I hope they can make something out of that line, but right now I would be inclined to split it up.

Both the PP and PK need some work. The PP seems to be right where it was when last season ended. The PK seems to have dropped off.

T'was fun to watch a game on the big TV with RJ's call. How long has it been? 5 months? :clapping:

It's really tough to take a whole lot away from exhibition games because these are mishmash lineups and you can't really see how these guys are doing against real competition. For example, tonight, it seemed like Montreal only had a few players from the regular roster, and neither one of their goalies. So, it's tough to really take much.

But, I thought Ehrhoff was really good tonight. Great shot on his goal. One thing I like about him is not only does he have a hard shot, but he gets shots to the net. Even if they don't go in, he gets the shots on net creating rebound opportunities and the dirty Vanek goals. I also find his d-zone play underrated, and I think he's an improvement compared to say a Montador or Butler in the d-zone as well.

Again, the three goals tonight came from the NHL lines, so it's tough to really say how the young kids played. I still think Gerbe's hard work and motor are really going to give him a really good year. I am still underwhelmed by Adam even playing with Boyes and Gerbe tonight. And, I think the Foligno, Kassian, Adam line could use some time in the AHL and just destroy the league. But, overall, I liked the way the D played tonight.

PK is going to be fine.....they were trying everyone on top for practice

Ehrhoff doesn't have just a hard shot....he's got a cannon/howitzer/air to air missile.

He can crack 100 mph. But he's got a nice quick release.

Ought to be an entertaining third. My feed was practically in sync with WGR until it stuttered a couple of times.

So far, the things that have stood out to me are: Gerbe looks fast, actually, the entire team seems a little faster. I love watching Enroth play. The PK looks rusty. Pominville looks pretty good considering his injury.

Patty Lalime is doing commentary?

I timed Pommers and Catenacci on the "cone" drill. You would think Catnasty would be much quicker. They both had the same time.

Pominville has tremendous balance.

Catnasty's feet were going 100mph. He was quick but wasting energy. I think the NHL guys learn how to conserve their energy for a full game.

Max Pacioretty: "The Sabres were pretty stacked. They're making a playoff push in pre-season."

Habs upset with the lineup Buffalo used.

Don't know how to tell Pacioretty this but this team is preparing for a very good season and a long playoff so we are going to use our best and mold our new identity as early as possible. Also a good number of non NHL players were out there. We didnt even put our top 6 defenders on the ice.

Wah max wah. My thinking on this is you want to be firing on all cylinders come first game of the season and get on a bit of a roll for the first 10 games. Management and coaches probably have 90-95 percent of the line-up for the regular season chosen anyways. There may be 1 or 2 guys that could surprise but I'd give the time to the guys that are going to carry the mail in the regular season and let the others work their way onto the team by playing their a$$es off in the A.H.L.

Interesting coming from a guy that was out there close to 22 minutes or so.

Maybe if he played 15 I'd listen.

Seriously though...with three D pairings that never played with each other, how else do you do it?

Sounds like he might have some cobwebs still in his head. Maybe he just lacks a competitive edge.

Agreed with you guys, very bitter and baseless comment by Max. Like someone already said, none of the dmen have played together yet so how are they going to get the time to gel if not in game situations. Sabres are playing a pretty compact schedule because they fly out to Germany, so i really don't see a problem. Regier and Ruff have build this team for a long run, they can do what they want if they believe it will result in success. Obviously gelling is one of them.

Did anyone actually hear him say that and not just read it? I'm just wondering if he may actually have been complimenting the Sabres.

Either way, I'd rather they make a playoff push at the beginning of the season than wait until the second to last game to clinch a spot.

My guess is the line is taken out of context...
