papazoid Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 just prior to the Tyler Myers press conference Ted Black made several announcements.....one of them was regarding improvements to the ice surface which will make ours the best in the league. #1- new ice chiller #2- three new dehumidifiers #3- new "lazer beam leveling" zamboni's
nfreeman Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 I think this, along with the locker rooms, is one of those non-cash items that will make a difference with some free agents (especially skilled forwards) and will generally improve the reputation of the organ-eye-zation around the league.

Maybe I should forget about tours of the arena for the fans, and instead have Ted Black give opposing teams tours of the arena. :D

If the opinion of the organization amongst the league's players hasn't changed substantially already, it soon will. Pegs is too good to be true. He's really going to do it.

I know what you meant, but these are multi-million dollar upgrades
nfreeman Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 I know what you meant, but these are multi-million dollar upgrades Absolutely. He's spending real money hand over fist. I just meant non-cash from a FA's perspective.
wjag Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 This is the most significant change to the arena in my opinion.
carpandean Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 #3- new "lazer beam leveling" zamboni's Are they ill-tempered?
X. Benedict Posted September 15, 2011 Report Posted September 15, 2011 Maybe I should forget about tours of the arena for the fans, and instead have Ted Black give opposing teams tours of the arena. :D Come F'NC the ice. Come F'NC the Zamboni. Come F'NC the locker. Come F'NC if you wanna play here!

Two or less Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 Maybe I should forget about tours of the arena for the fans, and instead have Ted Black give opposing teams tours of the arena. :D The visitors locker rooms are complete, and Paul Hamilton says they are the best he's seen, and pretty sure he's been in every visiting locker room in the league... lol
waldo Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 The visitors locker rooms are complete, and Paul Hamilton says they are the best he's seen, and pretty sure he's been in every visiting locker room in the league... lol Wait til ya see the Sabres locker room.. cannot begin to guess how much went in there.
shrader Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 I'm picky about these things. Did they specifically say "Zamboni"?
Eleven Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 Maybe I should forget about tours of the arena for the fans, and instead have Ted Black give opposing teams tours of the arena. :D You've gotta know that this is a BIG part of what they're doing. They are going to make every NHLer, except for those Frenchies with dreams of rouge, blanc, et bleu, wish he were a Sabre. Are they ill-tempered? Funny you mention it. Ted Black actually did make a Dr. Evil reference during the presser when he discussed the new Zs.
darksabre Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 I'm picky about these things. Did they specifically say "Zamboni"? They'll actually be Olympias.
BetweenThePipes00 Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 Black did say "Zambonis" but he may have been using it generically as most people do ... what he described sure sounds like what is in that video above.

X. Benedict Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 Sure beats hosing down the pond.
Eleven Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 Sure beats hosing down the pond. Random trivia because I'm not tired enough to go to bed: Rumor in my former curling league was that the term "hoser" came from kidding the losing team at a curling match, who was responsible for hosing down the rink at the end of a match.
BetweenThePipes00 Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 Actually, the video here http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/GARTH/PEGULA-LASERS-AND-FREAK-ON-A-LEASH/6/38127 was shot today after the press conference and clearly shows a Zamboni ....
shrader Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 Black did say "Zambonis" but he may have been using it generically as most people do ... what he described sure sounds like what is in that video above. I'd expect a smart businessman to not make that mistake.
Eleven Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 I'd expect a smart businessman to not make that mistake. Why would he care? Not his job to protect the brand. (I ask for a Kleenex all the time and use "band-aids" no matter the manufacturer, so maybe I'm not the best judge.)

You're also not running a multimillion dollar company that is constantly in the public eye (well, not that I know of anyway). I don't know, I guess you tend to know who your business partners are. But don't mind me, the zamboni/olympia thing is a minor obsession of mine.
elcrusho Posted September 16, 2011 Report Posted September 16, 2011 You don't call a Ferrari a Ford.....
