Insomniac Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 Does anyone know when it opens? First preseason game is just three weeks away. Also, does anyone know if practices will be open to the public? The Buffalo Sabres today announced they will open Training Camp for the 2010-11 NHL season on Friday, September 17 when veterans report to HSBC Arena for physicals and on-ice testing. The full camp gets underway on Saturday, September 18 as part of the “Puckdrop 2010” festivities. A total of 58 players are currently scheduled to attend this year’s camp -- 33 forwards, 20 defensemen and 5 goaltenders. (Camp roster attached.) Friday’s on-ice testing is closed to the public. HSBC Arena will be open to the public only for the 1 p.m. rookie camp scrimmage. All HSBC Arena practices are free and open to the public, and select concession stands will be open. Insomniac Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 .... I remember hearing about it and that looked like the obvious link to the story..my bad lol. edit: I guess it didnt say the exact day, it just said Aug25 "The 32-year-old believes he belongs in the NHL. He’s intent on proving that to the Buffalo Sabres when training camp starts in three weeks." Ales Kotalik is happy to be back with Sabres
spndnchz Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 No Puckdrop this year. No Adult Street Hockeyfest. There will be an open night practice during training camp. Date not public yet.
Derrico Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 SABRES OPEN TRAINING CAMP ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 Wow, I didn't realize this was dated until I took a look at the camp invites and saw the Tin Man. I'm now cleaning my screen from the coffee that flew out of my mouth in shock. Thank goodness this is last years invites....it's like awaking from a nightmare and breathing a sigh of relief that it was only a dream.
Insomniac Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 Garth is saying: Camp doors are expected to swing open on September 16. The team will assemble, do their physicals, then immediately hit the ice. They will have three days to prepare for their first exhibition game.
Andrew Amerk Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 I hope in the future that they go back to having a preseason exhibition game in Rochester each year.
Insomniac Posted August 29, 2011 Report Posted August 29, 2011 I hope in the future that they go back to having a preseason exhibition game in Rochester each year. I'm sure that will be the case. Ted Black and Terry Pegula want to rebuild that connection was there. They all mentioned that it didnt happen this year, because they had to schedule the preseason games in jan-feb so it wasn't possible.
spndnchz Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Confirmed by Derek Roy: Camp opens Sept 16th.
Andrew Amerk Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Confirmed by Derek Roy: Camp opens Sept 16th. Wow. So they really only get 2-3 days of camp before the first preseason game?
Taro T Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Wow. So they really only get 2-3 days of camp before the first preseason game? That's pretty much par for the course. And remember, only about 1/2 the guys in camp will be dressing for that game, and the other 1/2 will dress for the next one.
Warriorspikes51 Posted August 31, 2011 Report Posted August 31, 2011 Confirmed by Derek Roy: Camp opens Sept 16th. nice to see Roy already locked up that beautiful cottage of his until next summer. He's ready for hockey. I hope he stays healthy. 90 points isn't out of reach for him. I also think he's a darkhorse to get the "C"
Supersabre Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 SABRES OPEN TRAINING CAMP ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 I guess that I best mark that date on the calender at the old Homestead....
Supersabre Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 Confirmed by Derek Roy: Camp opens Sept 16th. Even better!!!!
Andrew Amerk Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 I guess that I best mark that date on the calender at the old Homestead.... Does your calendar have a Saturday Sept. 18th this year?
RazielSabre Posted September 1, 2011 Report Posted September 1, 2011 nice to see Roy already locked up that beautiful cottage of his until next summer. He's ready for hockey. I hope he stays healthy. 90 points isn't out of reach for him. I also think he's a darkhorse to get the "C" I agree all bar 'darkhorse'. His one of the more obvious candidates for me. Don't get me wrong, I think Vanek should be captain with Roy and Myers with the A's but his credentials are pretty good, didnt he captain Kitchener to the Memorial cup?
frisky Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 I think that link is for training camp last season, ie 2010-2011 season. I would go with Derek's date.
