Had the sit down with the girl, got some closure and am good to move on. Life advice, if all of your friends say you deserve better, listen to them

So now, I can meet this other girl through a friend, who seems much more my type. He wanted to bring her over tonight, but between ending one bridge last night and playing an incredibly intense drinking game, I convinced him that I would make a terrible first impression tonight. So I'll meet her hopefully soon, and just blackout and enjoy tonight

It's been a highly stressful few weeks, I'm just glad it's done and I have a night to let loose

Sounds like you're moving in the right direction, bravo!

I'm looking forward to some good food tonight, Plated delivery showed up yesterday so I'll be cooking at 5. We do a couple Plated (think Blue Apron but a slightly different meal selection model) meals every other week. Not cheap but you make some stuff that expands horizons.

Up this weekend: Quinoa Burrata Bowl and Bok Choy Fried Rice.

I took yesterday and today off for my b'day. Today, after we got the kid off to school I decided to go back to bed and not get for any reason other than" it's time."

11:01.

F'N Fantastic. It's probably going to be a long time before that happens again.

Got up at 4 today to take my best friend in for her tube tying surgery. Surgery was on time, successful, and the staff at Highland Hospital were absolutely wonderful as always. She's safely back home and recovering. It was her first time under general anesthesia, too. I'm so happy it all went so chill for her. And it feels good to be able to be there for someone.

Highland is awesome. Cody was born there. They take great care of you.

Ok, so this happened yesterday, but...

...my complaint about business travel?  Yeah, business travel sux.  And American oversold my flight home and couldn't get any volunteers to give up their seat for compensation.  So they wouldn't let me board, even though I had a boarding pass.

So why is this fantastic?

Well, I learned a couple of things yesterday.  First, when an airline oversells and won't let you board, they have to give you a check for 4x the fare.  Second, they also have to do everything in their power to get you to your destination THAT DAY.  None of this applies to weather delays or flight cancellations; only to overselling and refusal to let you board.

So I flew home first class on United (only seat available on ANY airline, so American had no choice) with a four-digit check in my pocket.  I lost about 2 hours, 30 minutes in the process.

First class is pretty nice, even on a 90 minute flight.  Free mid-shelf liquor, served in an actual glass made out of, you know, glass.
