dEnnis the Menace Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 How many do you need? I guess not behind the bench guys but more niche coaches maybe? possibly on-ice guys for practices?
inkman Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 Hope this kid can do something with the PP. I think Leino and Erhoff will have more to do with this than any coach.
inkman Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 Not going to whine about it but I wish they had brought in a strong pp guy. See above. ^^^
biodork Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 How many do you need? I guess not behind the bench guys but more niche coaches maybe? I don't know; sounded like he didn't really want to do that, but maybe just when referring to special teams? Rather than divide the workload among his coaching staff, Ruff believes that Buffalo’s special teams success will derive from working as a collective unit. “Kevyn is going to work with the forwards, and be involved in the special teams, and continue the development work with the players. I’ve got some different thoughts on our special teams, and I’d like to utilize all three coaches. I think that’s how you develop,” Ruff explains. “Kevyn may be a voice in one or the other, and I’ve talked to him about it. I don’t think solely do I want either coach just to run either (the power play or penalty kill).
RazielSabre Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 All good news to me. I think partly it's indulging themselves now they have cash to flash.
Eleven Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 Better title, better money. And that's about it. (I realize the distinction is meaningless now that it's been clarified that Adams will be an assistant.) Some might remember Roger Neilson, who was an associate coach with the Sabres back in the olden days (I think he wore an onion on his belt); he was behind the bench during games.

I was going to say that I remember seeing Don Lever behind the bench, but apparently he randomly flopped back and forth between the associate and assistant position.
ROC Sabres Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 Edjumicate me. What is the difference between an associate coach and an assistant coach? Don't they both fetch coffee? Assistant Regional Manager vs Assistant to the Regional Manager

He's why Canuck fans wave white towels today.
nobody Posted August 5, 2011 Report Posted August 5, 2011 He's why Canuck fans wave white towels today. That brought a tear to my eyes.
