shrader Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Drury and the Sabres need to mend the rift, even to just retire a Sabre. One-year deal, small money would be great. He's still a good influence. PTR Why would he want to retire as a Sabre? He was only here 3 years and Calgary was the only team he spent less time with. He had essentially the same offensive production while he was with Colorado and also landed his ring while there.
apuszczalowski Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Let him retire with his Boyhood Dream team the Rangers. Time to let go of the past and move on, Drury wanted to leave and he did. Pegula may have money to burn, but the Sabres aren't a charity, and signing Drury back at his age/condition, it would be better to donate that money to Charity as it would help the team just as much.
LGR4GM Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Btw, why are we worrying about centers, we have four in Roy, Leino (played LW for Philly), Gaustad and McCormick. You really want your centers to be Roy, Leino, Goose, McCormick? I can trump that with a dozen teams with much better centers and some cetner depth. You will need more than some OK centers to win in the playoffs especially without any depth. If Adam is your 5th center you should be worried and no offense to Hecht or Boyes but they are not good centers and play much much better on the wing... we have a serious issue with a lack of centers on this team and therefore most of us will remained worried. Also: Chris Drury is not good anymore. He is not the savior of buffalo. Bringing back a former captain who may think he has some hold still on the locker room would retard the development of the "core" of this team further and probably annoy some other guys who have been emerging as leaders over the past season. Not to mention what happens during game 15 when he takes a hit on the PK and hes now gone for the remainder of the year? No, Drury left for good on July 1, 2007. end scene. edit: thxs

Also he won the cup and made his name with the Avs, if he has any loyalty (unlikely imho) it's logically with them.
