JJFIVEOH Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 You're going to use offensive output to compare Butler vs Regehr? Really? A guy that averages barely over double digits per season? That's like comparing Leino vs Connolly in hits. This team has bigger problems than Regehr.

That's like comparing Leino vs Connolly in hits. This team has bigger problems than Regehr. Why not? Regehr's offensive numbers are certainly an indicator of his and his teammates performance. Naturally he's not expected to be an offensive phenom, but his numbers are typically far better than you're giving him credit for. And his stats this year speak for themselves. You can't tell me he's having a "good season" when you look at what he's done in the past. Has he been good for us this year? I would argue yes. But how sad is it that our expectations are so low that good for us is some of his worst.

But how sad is it that our expectations are so low that good for us is some of his worst. You mean like 4 other years in his career where he was in single digits? He's on pace to have more hits this year than he did the two previos years, for what he was brought here to do those are numbers I'm nore concerned about. To be quite honest, I'm a tad more concerned about the fact we have two guys who have scored between 32-42 goals in a season and they might not even break 10 this year.

Just wanted to point out the irony in your comment, as right below it, in your signature line you have a quote by Regehr I would say that Regehr has been far from being a problem on this roster, but he has not been the force that most expected him to be when they made the deal and does not seem to be performing like his past self. Most nights I forget he is even on the team, he just seems to be one of those guys who isn't making a mistake to cost you, but isn't doing anything spectacular to make a difference. He was not the worst move made this offseason.............
Eleven Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 I posted this in the NJD GDT but it warrants posting here too (IMO): This is how you handle a "superstar" who won't play hard and floats through the game: The burly winger has been a healthy scratch for the last two games and only received 11:25 minutes of ice time in his last appearance, so it seems like he’s floating out of the Los Angeles Kings’ picture again. Matt Reitz caught up with Darryl Sutter, who provided a very blunt assessment of Penner: Q: What’s the scenario for Penner right now? What’s the message or what do you need to see? Sutter: “Work your ass off. Then you get a chance to play again. If you don’t, you don’t. It’s pretty clear.” Q: Is he back to square one as far as that’s concerned? Sutter: “I think when you’re told to work your ass off, that IS square one.” http://prohockeytalk...ks-his-ass-off/ You know, Ruff has done this with numerous players over the years. But has he with Stafford? And if not, what does Stafford have on him?
Sabres Fan in NS Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 On the SabreSpace main page ... A link to an article by some hack at the Hamiltion Spectator about Roy and the Sabres' new owner Tom Golisano. What can I say ... stupid Canadians, bloody hell!

The point I'm trying to make is that this team needs work when your best stay home defenseman is having one of the worst seasons of his career.

Exactly, To the Sabres, he is having a good year compared to the other defencemen, but he is not the kind of player everyone expected the Sabres were getting when they made the deal and has hardly been a difference maker on this team

Eleven Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 You know SabreSpace is having a good year when you sign in for the second time in 29 hours, and for the second time in 29 hours, the place has about a billion new posts. WOW.

WOW. Yeah, I've been off the site for two days, and today it took me FOREVER to catch up on everything.

Two or less Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Beatin' topics to death is our business. And brother, business is a-boomin'. lol Back on track, hope you guys got to watch the NBC game tonight.... fantastic hockey between Bruins and Montreal. Bruins won in the shootout, but it was an excellent hockey game, from start to the end. Habs got called for 3 goalie interference penalties, all were borderline calls though i think. And Paille's goalie interference was BS too.

I haven't seen the highlights, so take this with a grain of salt, but...I would rather the refs err on the side of borderline calls and less on the "let them crash the net" end of the spectrum.

That play must be ratings gold because NBCS is stillbeating it to death.

This is very true. As long as they consistant.
Bmwolf21 Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Marchand goes low again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IF4mQ-AYY8&feature=player_embedded#! http://sports.yahoo...._medium=twitter
Lanny Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 The worst part of that is there is no time left in the period
TrueBlueGED Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Marchand is such a scumbag, he easily could have just delivered a clean check there.
billsrcursed Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Marchand goes low again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IF4mQ-AYY8&feature=player_embedded#! http://sports.yahoo...._medium=twitter I seriously hope I'm tuning in the day someone puts him through the glass face first. Unfortunately for me, I watch Sabres games...
JJFIVEOH Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 I supported Marchand when he got suspended (and still do) because I thought it was a bad call. But that right there is obviously blatant.
bunomatic Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 I supported Marchand when he got suspended (and still do) because I thought it was a bad call. But that right there is obviously blatant. The first suspension was the right call and this was just a sick attempt once again to hurt someone. Marchand is the new Cooke. IMO.
Bmwolf21 Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 The first suspension was the right call and this was just a sick attempt once again to hurt someone. Marchand is the new Cooke. IMO. This. Let's see if the league calls him out for not getting the message after the first suspension.
darksabre Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 This. Let's see if the league calls him out for not getting the message after the first suspension. You gotta figure at some point the NHL has to just look at him and say "Dude, just stop being a dick."
Weave Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Looked hip-to-hip to me. Marchand is a huge D-bag but this particular hit isn't why.
