Yeah. If you want a guy to not hit his games played bonus, bench him once.

No one said what kind of bonus he has - maybe it is a TOI? Maybe it is G,A,P?

Gagne with another at 19:59 of the first. This kid to be buying Lotto tickets and heading to the Casino he is so hot.

If he keeps it up--and that's an if--he might become 2012's version of 2011 Stafford. I want the Sabs to stay away from him.

According to the Sabres twitter, Kassian has been sent back to Rochester. They used to the term "loaned to Rochester." This might be a stupid question, but there isn't a difference between being sent down and being, ahem, "loaned" .. is there?

He has a contract with Buffalo, not Rochester. The Sabres (and other NHL teams) loan their players to their AHL affiliate, who can also have some players of their own under contract. When he is "called up", he's actually recalled to Buffalo (see here for examples.)

I see. That's what I figured, but I've never heard the term "loaned" used before.

I've heard it a few times, but I thought it meant something different. Must be a part of all the guidelines they need to follow. I guess it means he doesn't have a two way contract, but he hasn't played enough in the NHL to have to clear waivers to go down?

It's loose language, so you're not at all at fault for thinking it was different. In other countries (most notably, countries that have strong soccer leagues), a "loan" means just that. A team loans a guy who isn't starting down to another team in another league (or even to a non-contender in the same league), but there aren't farm teams in those leagues like in hockey and baseball here.

He does have a two-way deal. All entry level contracts are two-way. He will not be eligible for waivers until either that deal is completed or he has played in 160 NHL games.

I usually think that the Internet is full of crap, but every now and then ones Googling lands on a real gem ... :w00t: .

I wish I could take credit for finding it through Google, but that was actually posted on Facebook by EA Sports/NHL's account.
