Watching the Kings broadcast (Kings vs. Caps)... and they profile ice girls between periods! Maybe we can get rid of Kevin & Roby and replace them with ice girl calendar shoots? I think the Kings are on to something here. (first we need some ice girls)

No, no, no. I don't want fruit touching any part of pancakes, actually, I don't want fruit touching anything I am going to eat,.. I hate fruit.

..And how do you say "pancakes" anyway? Is it a tip of the tongue n as in "pan-cakes" or is it a back of the tongue n as in punkin?

There's only one way to say "pancakes," and the n is pronounced. Unless you're McDonald's; then it's "hotcakes," which just is weird.

Well that's because they aren't technically made in a pan. But a microwave does a good job of making them hot.

Wow, the Shannahan video nailed the Marchand situation. I missed it in the video, but that same exact scenario (Salo approaching Marchand) happened seconds early and Marchand threw this shoulder into him. It couldn't be any more obvious what his intent was there.

Don't forget Marchand did something similar in the SCF last year, after what looked like a clothesline on Erhoff, Daniel Sedin tried to hit Marchand and he flipped him too. Not quite as low as the Salo hit but still...

So he's defending both of those hits? What a fool. I still have no idea how anyone can call those hip checks. A hip check is not thrown with the upper body. Marchand is taking his shoulders low into players' legs. Both of those hits were initiated right around the rib area (upper body). And the fact that he's doing it while the player is skating towards the boards? That's a disaster waiting to happen.

Oh, and one comment in that link that I absolutely love:

PERFECTLY LEGAL MANOEVER GORILLA MONSOON.

What's a punkin anyway? Any grown ass person substituting punkin for pumpkin should never be allowed out of their home.

Oh, you should read his ESPN blog. Not only does he defend the hit, but he says that anyone who thinks it was illegal doesn't know what they are talking about:

OK, the play with Sami Salo. It technically wasn’t a clip. Clipping is when you hit someone at the knees and I did not hit him at the knees. Anyone that has seen the video will see that I hit him in the upper thigh under the buttocks. They can call it a clipping, but they obviously don’t know the rules of hockey. I felt like I was trying to protect myself and get low and he went over me.

and that Vignault is classless and he doesn't care what people think:

Their coach [Alain Vigneault] came out and said I play to hurt players. He obviously wanted to take a shot at me and stir the pot for the hearing [Monday]. It just shows the class he has or lack thereof. I really am not going to respond or bite into what he’s trying to feed me there. I hear Twitter was filled with comments about me today. For anyone that wants to call me someone who takes cheap shots, they can say what they want. It doesn’t affect me. I don’t care what people who don’t know me and I don’t know them and they have no meaning to me, I don’t care what they say. I don’t really care what my reputation is. I just want to play. I’m doing this as my job. I love this team. I’m just trying to be a player and I don’t care what my reputation is really. I’m not out there to hurt guys. When I’m out there, I play a hard-nosed game and play hard. If guys are soft and don’t like it, then that’s fine. I’m not out there to please anybody. I’m out there to do my job.

When I said "he" I meant the puck daddy guy. As for Marchand, he's a well documented tool.

I was surprised to see Wysh defend them as "hockey plays gone wrong". Marchand clearly has issues with being a dirty little dick and pushing the envelope all the time, so I don't see how anyone gives him the benefit of the doubt.

I truly cannot stand the guy, nor can I stand the majority of the rest of the team. (Although, I'm sure we'd all be in love with our team if we won games like that). But I really believe that he was dodging a hit and there was no intent to injure. If anything, Marchand should have gotten penalized for the punches to the head, but considering he was just punching Salo I think Marchand some him coming at the last second and was expecting some sort of retaliation. By the time Marchand saw Salo, I don't think there was enough time for him to decide to try and injure him. I think it was a bad call, both the game misconduct and the suspension. But, that's just my smiley_emoticons_my2cents.gif.

I can't buy that "he was just dodging the hit or protecting himself" nonsense that he and Julien were spewing. He's done it twice now, against the same team. He runs around like a little ###### and when someone lines him up for a hit, his reaction is to cut them low. Maybe not premeditated, but still a chickenshit move, IMO, and he's earned every minute and game of punishment, and every bit of scorn and contempt he's had thrown his way.

It's amazing to me that he gets so indignant about people saying he needs to be punished and taught a lesson when he's said the same thing about other players in the past.

1. Marchand is a cheap POS, who makes POS dirty plays, and the Salo incident is not an exception. He clipped him.

2. Burke made deals for Kessel, Lupul, and Phaneuf. Regeir made deals for Torres, Rivet, and Zubrus. Not much more to say.

So why didn't he dodge the same exact hit from Salo when it happened a few seconds earlier?

I can't help but notice when I watch these other games league wide ( non sabres games ) how much energy and passion and just all around ' git er done ' the teams display as they claw their way towards a playoff spot or higher in the standings. Don't really see any of that 'compete' when I watch our beloved Sabres. Whats up wit that? I have to say I'm just sick to my stomach with this teams lack of heart.

Larry the Cable Guy might actually be an improvement over some of our players/coach.

"I can't accept that we will display a losing attitude as we're doing this year. We prepare for our games like losers. We play like losers. So it's no wonder why we lose," Cammalleri said in response to questions about the repeated failures of the Canadiens.

"You've got to be sensitive to the fact that Canadiens fans live and die by their team," Cammalleri told reporters. "So if anything, you can identify with how they feel. They're unhappy, and they let you know it. So I wasn't disappointed; I think moreso I probably expected it."

We need someone to come out and say that, or that attitude at least. Not 'we just didnt capitalise on our chances', thats getting very boring now. Anyway thats not my point, I liked the article and especially that quote so I posted it :)

this is a slightly less varnished version of what regehr said a while back about how good teams go about their business.

Hmm I kinda like it too. Good find

Maybe when all the sand falls out of our teams' collective vaginas, a resemblance of a sack will drop and someone will man up.

Here's to hoping!!

speaking of things that come out of vaginas: i've been in the room when my wife delivered each of our kids and concluded from those experiences that she is way tougher than me (although that is damning with faint praise).

point being: women can be tough as nails, often are, and, on balance, are tougher than men.

i will even venture this: if we had a locker room full of vaginas, we might actually be better off. i realize that the idea of mangina is different.

whatever. i just think the skirt/lady/uterus thing is played out. and inaccurate.

Ladies and gentlemen: the 2011-12 Buffalo Sabres!!

I agree with this sentiment having been there and feeling pretty useless for the birth of both of my children. With that in mind I'll state my criticism of this team from a different angle. The team as presently constructed will NEVER grow a collective sack, and anyone still patiently waiting for this to happen is either a moron, insane or a glutton for punishment. It's sad to say, but I watch the Sabres now much like I've watched Bills games the past 12 years. I merely chuckle when the inevitable happens and surf around center ice looking for some interesting and exciting hockey to watch.
