Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 Which takes us back to the "will you give Crosby a standing ovation when he returns?" debate. It looks like concussion symptoms and recovery may be just like any other autoimmune disorder with the nervous system. Some people are just predisposed to it, and if you do not recover in the traditional 3-6 week timeframe that the average person does, maybe it's in your best interests to hang them up. I'm starting to agree that concussions are an issue. I just think the Post Traumatic stuff has to be looked at more from a physiological/psychological standpoint, and not as much a flaw in the game of hockey itself. Why are fertility rates crashing among men? Why are certain cancer types exploding? Why is autisim expanding exponentially when 30 years ago the odds of you seeing it in a child were almost nill? Our bodies are short circuiting for one reason or another. Sure, a physical game is going to bring about the trigger, but it probably is not the cause.

I don't know the answer to this, but I'm pretty sure Travis Henry has something to do with it.

Not to sound like a tree-hugging lefty hippie ... which I am, but we are poisoning ourselves and the planet. That contact was initiated by Crosby. Not that it would matter considering the crest on Krejci's jersey. Why would that matter ... and it also doesn't matter the crest on Krejci's jersey.
2ForTripping Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 1st one was Steckel then a few days later Victor Hedman drilled him and it was downhill from there.
LGR4GM Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=382586 Los Angeles Kings have fired head coach Terry Murray on Monday and replaced him with John Stevens

In my mind not a good replacement for Lindy ... Regier?, well maybe.
X. Benedict Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 NHL.com also has it. In my mind not a good replacement for Lindy ... Regier?, well maybe. Two Murray's in the same conference?.........it would only be fun if he lisped as much as his brother.
X. Benedict Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 The wheels have really come off for Tampa.
Eleven Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 Why would that matter ... and it also doesn't matter the crest on Krejci's jersey. For disciplinary reasons. If Crosby initiated the contact leading to his recurrence of injury, Krejci shouldn't be disciplined. If Krejci is wearing a B with eight spokes coming out of it, he likely won't be disciplined, whether deserved or not.
Bmwolf21 Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 The wheels have really come off for Tampa. What is going on down there? I know they lost St Louis for a while and Roloson has struggled.
X. Benedict Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 What is going on down there? I know they lost St Louis for a while and Roloson has struggled. Rolly is just bad. 3 softies - got chased.
Bmwolf21 Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 Rolly is just bad. 3 softies - got chased. I know Rolly has been bad, but there's more going on when you lose 7 of 8. Offense is sputtering too - scored 2 or fewer in 18 of 30 games.
That Aud Smell Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 saw on twitter that giroux is out indefinitely with post-concussion symptoms. (video of the incident is below.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3AjW0Vc_AA&feature=related and then there's #87 shutting down again, for who knows how long. i know it's still playing out, but concussions are having, and are going to continue to have, a huge, huge impact on the league's competitive balance. a simple reality of life going forward, i reckon.
korab rules Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 The NHL was just notified by their team of doctors that concussions are not harmful as previously thought. Rather, they are beneficial and actually cause the brain to grow stronger so that it can resist further impacts in the future. The plaque on the brain that was previously identified as harmful has now been determined to be a beneficial callous. What were previously described as post-concussion symptoms are actually the new found cognitive abilities of people improved by concussions - the beneficiaries of these cognitive improvements just didn't know how to describe what was happening because they had never experienced such clear thoughts in the past. Cindy Crosby (the great labia of the north) and Claude Giroux and are cleared to play immediately so that marketing for the NHL and the Winter Classic may continue uninterrupted. And oh yeah, anyone else who may be out with a concussion can also come back whenever they feel up to it. Edit: someone pointed out a spelling error - it has been fixed.

Sidney Crosby is a hockey player.

LabattBlue Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 FAN590 reporting that Daryl Sutter will be named the next Kings coach.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted December 13, 2011 Report Posted December 13, 2011 FAN590 reporting that Daryl Sutter will be named the next Kings coach. I'd put him as Lindy's equal. Different philosophies on certain players, but same sort of....get you to the dance but not to the broomcloset at the dance type of guy. Maybe we can trade Roy to LA now.
dEnnis the Menace Posted December 14, 2011 Report Posted December 14, 2011 Michalek Concussed Not out for too long. Bobby Butler to step in for the time being. I remember watching him at UNH vs Cornell, as they lit Cornell up Big, and then watched his team get lit up by RIT the following night. Saw him in Binghamton a little last season. Not to bad a player when I saw him in the A. his NHL stats aren't super though.
