dEnnis the Menace Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 Kaberle dealt to Canadiens for Spacek linkie 1) there's nothing connecting to your link  2) there is some discussion about this already in the Around the NHL thread. just sayin
LabattBlue Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 No doubt Carolina will be flipping Spacek(if he is healthy) for a pick at the deadline.
wonderbread Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 what you can make trades to improve your team?
spndnchz Posted December 9, 2011 Author Report Posted December 9, 2011 Eh, spach is cleared to play. He'll be a better player for Carolina than Kaberle. It's a good move. Markov is out until after the All Star break. They needed someone who can play more minutes.
shrader Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 I wonder if this will get a suspension Wow that was stupid. I love how his teammates quickly formed a wall around him with that "what the hell were you thinking" look on their faces. I think you'll see a nice fine as a way of saying "don't ever do that again". There were two major problems with that one: 1. He pointed directly at the goalie/net with that celebration. 2. It was a tap in. Why in the hell is he reacting like he just ripped off some filthy sniper shot?
apuszczalowski Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 It's going to calm down, don't worry. Over the next few weeks either the team will start to play better and people will calm down.....or they will stay the same or worse and the fans will turn on Team Kitten with force until either a change is made or apathy builds. I shut up for the first 20 games and had some hope. That Boston game was a once in a generation defining moment. For those of us that have wanted Regier and Ruff gone for 5 years, this is a time to educate fans on their historical failures and show a pattern of management. Shackles schmackles.....look what Tallon and Dineen have done so far this year with a team $12 million under the cap and spending $40 million less in cash than the Sabres. I guess they didn't need 40% of the season to start and gel. People are getting their panties in a bunch now because Team Stormcloud is holding up a mirror and the Sabres consistant failures are showing like a ripe zit on a 15 year girl old right now.......and you are forced to look at it. It isn't comfortable.....and all those self-doubts that have been burried in team Kitty's heads the past few years and chalked up to excuses are now being proven in concrete reality. You can only deny and hide for so long before you have to deal with it.....and usually the longer you ignore a festering problem, the more of a disaster it eventually becomes when you finally have to deal with it. Darcy Regier just signed Lieno, Ehrhoff, Sekera, Stafford and Myers to $132.5 million dollars worth of contracts. Let that number sink in for a moment. 126 games played, 13 goals , 36 assists, a -15........$132.5 million. Now we hear from the Team President, with righteous indignation to boot, that GM and Coach are not even an issue worth discussing. We are going to let the same man who just spent $132.5 million on Lieno, Sekera, Stafford, Ehrhoff and Myers....go into a trade market.....and give said player/players to a man who named Jason Pominville, Derek Roy and Drew Stafford team captains.....and people expect logical, educated, and loyal Sabres fans to sit back with a smile as this is shoved down our throats? Pegula has doubled down on Hockey Purgatory once again. First he fails to get a real hockey man to oversee operations, then he goes and gets Boyes in a feel-good push for 8th place instead of collecting picks for pending free agents that had plenty of value in a seller's market, then he hands out anchorous contracts to the same mold of soft players we have seen here for years, and now he is going to let the same people attempt to save the season by making another trade and possibly squeezing out the last bit of economic flexibility this team has. And from what I can tell....they haven't changed the quote in the locker room to "The sole reason for the Buffalo Sabres existence is to win the Stanley Cup.....or die trying." Yet that has been the quote Mr. Black has been using since sometime after the 5-1 start this year. Trust me......Team Stormcloud will be quiet soon. About as quiet as a random sampling of decible level at the arena on the night of a home game. If Black and Pegula are as dug in as they seem on status quo making decisions, there will be nothing left to complain about. Thy will is done.........and with that it either turns around, or the franchise is set back another year yet again. I have agrued it before that other teams don't always have to take a quarter of the season to "gel" because some new players come to town. Philly ships off its 2 captains this offseason and they are in 1st, with a new goalie and some injuries to their defence. The majority of this Sabres team have played together for years and came up through the system together. How much more geling do they need? I have agreed with some of your "negativity" with this team. I have been banging loudly on the "Fire Darcy" Drum for years, especially after losing Briere and Drury for nothing after handling that situation as incompetently as he did. I never believed in the "shackle" excuse as to why Darcy was never able to spend. He had no problem spending money for Conolly or giving it to his drafted guys. And its not like he is the only GM to have a budget or limits to how much can be spent, all teams do. Brad boyes was a waste of a pick so far, yet another great deadline addition for Darcy. This offseason was more of the same, but with more money being spent. Just because you can and do spend money, doesn't mean its good. They grossly overpaid for Ehrhoff and Leino (ask any Canucks fan about Ehrhoff and they will all say they would have loved him back for a couple million, but he is no where near worth what Buffalo payed), and while Regher has been good (I think he is a good player and not complaining about him being here), he isn't a "game changer" right now thats changing this team. I just don't agree with chasing Ruff out of town. I think he is a good coach doing the best with what he is given. I think alot of the blame from fans is put on him just because of the amount of time he has been here, and because many think that guys like Roy, Stafford, and others are just underachieving and are superstars in hiding, being held back. it always seems that a Sabres prospect always gets hyped up by the team and fans because of their supposed "potential", they come up, play for a small period of time looking good, then are inconsistent and struggle to reach expectations. Its time to get a GM in here who isn't tied so tightly to his picks and is willing to make moves to shake this teams core up. I am a fan of the Toronto Blue jays GM, Alex ANthopolous, he is always making under the radar deals for guys that he has been watching and knows have potential. He completly rebuilt their farm system into one of the better farm systems, and is willing to move prospects and underperforming players for guys that have potential to improve the club. Someone like that could really help the Sabres right now
apuszczalowski Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 I wonder if this will get a suspension Probably, didn't see a Bruins sweater in the video so I'm sure they will check it out....... I don't see what was so wrong with it, everyone always says that "its just a game", yet when guys start to have fun and celebrate, everyone gets their panties in a bunch because celebrating might be disrespectful, and hurt the feelings of the other team. I personally would have saved that celebration for one where I had more of a shot and put it past the goalie then just tipping in a puck at the net.......... If this was the NFL though, it would be a fine and penalty for "imitating gun play". Guess thats what happens when the league has problems with "Gungsta Thugs" running around with guns in their sweatpants at clubs.........
thesportsbuff Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 sorry but if that's a suspension then the NHL is not worth watching anymore. last i knew celebrations weren't against the rules -- remember Ovie's stupid "hot stick" one? not even worthy of a fine if you ask me. probably a stupid thing to do, but whatever. he learned his lesson.
TheMadCap Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 I have one beef with his anthem.....yes he showtunes it up a little on the ending, but I can live with that. My problem is "The bombs bursting in air". He used to sing it correctly with "the bombs" being 2 eighth notes. Now he pa-pows it with "the" being a sixteenth note and "bombs" being an eighth tied to a sixteenth. It is very unnatural and a tad disrespectful when combined with his ending given he sings the rest of the song straight as an arrow. And the popcorn at the stand in 117 needs more salt.............. I like Heisenberg singing the anthem...
Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 That's because they are trading for stamkos. I heard Boyes, Ellis and a fifth of absolut. The clincher!! :w00t:
Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 What's up with all the Connolly avitars?????
Andrew Amerk Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 It is definitely a good move for Carolina. Will Kaberle do any better for Montreal? Did he just quit on the 'Canes because they were doing so terrible? He had 2 assists for MTL today. Good start for him...
wjag Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Chew on this: No Goals Allowed, but a Loss Carolina goalie Mike Murphy made his N.H.L. debut Tuesday night and pulled off what seemed to be a logical impossibility: he received a regulation loss without surrendering a goal. Murphy replaced Cam Ward with about nine minutes left and the Hurricanes trailing Calgary, 6-3. He faced only two shots, stopping both, and was removed for an extra attacker with under two minutes left and his team down, 6-4. Sitting on the bench, Murphy watched the Flames get an empty-net goal, then returned to the crease. But Carolina scored twice in the game’s final half-minute, making the final score 7-6. Hockey’s rules consider the winning goal the one that provides the margin of victory, in this case Calgary’s seventh goal. Murphy was the Hurricanes’ goalie of record when that goal was scored — but because he was removed for the extra skater at the time, it does not count as a goal against on his personal statistics. So Murphy, who has a 0.00 goals against average and a 1.000 save percentage, also has a 0-1 won-lost record. Elias Sports Bureau could find no other time in N.H.L. history when that had occurred. “Cam Ward is such a great goalie and great person, I’ll take a loss for him any day,” Murphy said.
Eleven Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 ESPN reporting that Crosby is out indefinitely again.
korab rules Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 ESPN reporting that Crosby is out indefinitely again. Really?!? That can't be good - are they admitting a recurrence of concussion symptoms?
Eleven Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 Really?!? That can't be good - are they admitting a recurrence of concussion symptoms? Not quite. Just concussion-like symptoms. I don't presume to know the difference. One would think that the symptoms are what they are, and that said symptoms may indicate a concussion or may indicate something else. But I'm not a professional sportswriter. http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/7345193/sidney-crosby-pittsburgh-penguins-indefinitely-concussion-symptoms
Sabres Fan in NS Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 ESPN reporting that Crosby is out indefinitely again. I think he should and will retire. The risks are just too high. Who ever hit him (Cooke?????) to cause this should be banned for life.
wonderbread Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 Tim Kennedy released by FLA. I think he should and will retire. The risks are just too high. Who ever hit him (Cooke?????) to cause this should be banned for life. Cooke is on his team. I think it was Steckel.

Eleven Posted December 12, 2011 Report Posted December 12, 2011 Now he says it may have been Krejci; before, it was his teammate, Chris Kunitz. I don't stand up for Bruins, or Krejci, too often, but it doesn't seem like there was a lot Krejci could do to avoid that contact. Krejci had just played the puck and even turned his back to Crosby. The vid is kind of blurry, though.
