Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 Senators and Canadiens lose after being up 3-0. Huh. But they both "gained a big point on the conference leader"......as Mr. Ted Black said so convincingly today.
korab rules Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 Not that it probably matters much, but the Sabres have a scout at the Rags-Bolts game tonight. That's because they are trading for stamkos. I heard Boyes, Ellis and a fifth of absolut.
korab rules Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 But they both "gained a big point on the conference leader"......as Mr. Ted Black said so convincingly today. Are you spewing your crap in every thread on this board now? I thought you were locked in "Lindy on the hot seat"?
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 Are you spewing your crap in every thread on this board now? I thought you were locked in "Lindy on the hot seat"? Um...if you listen to the GR interview today...that was his direct quote about the game last night.
bunomatic Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 Um...if you listen to the GR interview today...that was his direct quote about the game last night. And we're supposed to be satisfied with that. Thank you Mr. Black but despite what you've been led to believe sabres fans demand more.
SwampD Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 And we're supposed to be satisfied with that. Thank you Mr. Black but despite what you've been led to believe sabres fans demand more. Why aren't you satisfied with that? I know that how it played out kinda sucks, but we did come away with a point from the team that is in first place in the conference. Not to use the injury excuse, but we're holding steady with half an AHL squad. I might actually ask for a trade off of Team Stormcloud. I know I'm just a callup anyway, but this is getting tiresome, and I actually have a little hope for the rest of this season. We had a big shakeup on D in the offseaon. That always takes time to gel. And we will get injured players back that will make a difference no matter what you think of the kids playing now. Sunshine and Kitten Crew, call my agent.

Half full vs half empty fan base with the half empties leading right now. The problem with the Sabres at home is the National Anthem and the people they let sing it. How can you expect your team to play well after hearing that.

Over the next few weeks either the team will start to play better and people will calm down.....or they will stay the same or worse and the fans will turn on Team Kitten with force until either a change is made or apathy builds. I shut up for the first 20 games and had some hope. That Boston game was a once in a generation defining moment. For those of us that have wanted Regier and Ruff gone for 5 years, this is a time to educate fans on their historical failures and show a pattern of management. Shackles schmackles.....look what Tallon and Dineen have done so far this year with a team $12 million under the cap and spending $40 million less in cash than the Sabres. I guess they didn't need 40% of the season to start and gel. People are getting their panties in a bunch now because Team Stormcloud is holding up a mirror and the Sabres consistant failures are showing like a ripe zit on a 15 year girl old right now.......and you are forced to look at it. It isn't comfortable.....and all those self-doubts that have been burried in team Kitty's heads the past few years and chalked up to excuses are now being proven in concrete reality. You can only deny and hide for so long before you have to deal with it.....and usually the longer you ignore a festering problem, the more of a disaster it eventually becomes when you finally have to deal with it. Darcy Regier just signed Lieno, Ehrhoff, Sekera, Stafford and Myers to $132.5 million dollars worth of contracts. Let that number sink in for a moment. 126 games played, 13 goals , 36 assists, a -15........$132.5 million. Now we hear from the Team President, with righteous indignation to boot, that GM and Coach are not even an issue worth discussing. We are going to let the same man who just spent $132.5 million on Lieno, Sekera, Stafford, Ehrhoff and Myers....go into a trade market.....and give said player/players to a man who named Jason Pominville, Derek Roy and Drew Stafford team captains.....and people expect logical, educated, and loyal Sabres fans to sit back with a smile as this is shoved down our throats? Pegula has doubled down on Hockey Purgatory once again. First he fails to get a real hockey man to oversee operations, then he goes and gets Boyes in a feel-good push for 8th place instead of collecting picks for pending free agents that had plenty of value in a seller's market, then he hands out anchorous contracts to the same mold of soft players we have seen here for years, and now he is going to let the same people attempt to save the season by making another trade and possibly squeezing out the last bit of economic flexibility this team has. And from what I can tell....they haven't changed the quote in the locker room to "The sole reason for the Buffalo Sabres existence is to win the Stanley Cup.....or die trying." Yet that has been the quote Mr. Black has been using since sometime after the 5-1 start this year. Trust me......Team Stormcloud will be quiet soon. About as quiet as a random sampling of decible level at the arena on the night of a home game. If Black and Pegula are as dug in as they seem on status quo making decisions, there will be nothing left to complain about. Thy will is done.........and with that it either turns around, or the franchise is set back another year yet again.
waldo Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 Tell me you ain't dissin' my boy Dougie. Dougie should concentrate on keeping his day job in the coal mine. The sound of nails being draged across a chalk board are easier to listen to than his rendition of the national anthem, which in some States would result in him being charged with a violent felony..

But when we have to hear all that every day in every thread, or even worse, on some random Tuesday in December, in a GDT, perhaps after a game in which we may even have won,.. it gets tiresome. I want the Sabres to win the Stanley Cup as much as anyone, but some days, I just want to watch hockey and enjoy a win. I don't need to be told where that win fits in a historical perspective.

I refuse to make excuses and the Florida example is very apt. One needs to only look at the big signings ( all of which are still playing ) and the impressive return we've reaped to realize Mr. Black ,Regier,Ruff, have made some poor decisions. Pegula may have bought a shiny new car but at this point it appears to be a lemon. I still hold out hope it'll turn around but until then as a fan who has years invested in this franchise I'll continue to hold their feet to the fire. GO SABRES!

Florida is $6.8MM under the cap, not $12MM. Tallon and Dineen have certainly done a good job, but (i) we are 28 games into the season and (ii) that franchise had nowhere to go but up. And if you're still looking for a double-or-nothing on our bet, I'd be willing to wager that the Sabres end up having a better season this year than Florida has. I fixed the "panties in a bunch" paragraph. And when you're debating the logic of an opinion, you don't get to call yourself "logical" in order to support your opinion. As for those contracts -- they range from 4 to 10 years. 28 games is awfully early to decide whether or not they were good moves, innit? And given their structure and cap hit, it's hard to call any of them "anchorous." I agree on the last paragraph.

The problem at recent home games, is that it is all downhill after Dougie walks off the ice. I have one beef with his anthem.....yes he showtunes it up a little on the ending, but I can live with that. My problem is "The bombs bursting in air". He used to sing it correctly with "the bombs" being 2 eighth notes. Now he pa-pows it with "the" being a sixteenth note and "bombs" being an eighth tied to a sixteenth. It is very unnatural and a tad disrespectful when combined with his ending given he sings the rest of the song straight as an arrow. And the popcorn at the stand in 117 needs more salt..............

Did he just quit on the 'Canes because they were doing so terrible?
