Would you retire if you had a contract that pays you 4.5mil a year until 2021? ;)

They're supposed to get every penny if they retire due to injury, but I wonder how that would work when you still have 85 years left on your contract.

He will have to use alot of that money he is owed to find a doctor to say that he can no longer playout the contract because of an injury he sustained while playing. His problem is that he gets healthy, and then gets injured again right away. If you look up injury prone in the dictionary, I think you would find either his picture or Connollys, depending on the publisher of the dictionary

No, DiPietro's picture only shows up in the dictionary when you go to the entry for herpes.

Varata took a run at Theodore in goal and Gilmour took a run in Varata.

Theodore got concussed. Gilmour blamed Ruff for cheap tactics.

I do recall the some of the LW flap after Gilmour left.

But really by then, Gilmour just couldn't cover the middle much. Chicago had moved

him to LW before he came to Buffalo. Ruff would move him around.

Mostly I believe it was Darcy not moving him to Ottawa that burned him the most though.

I'm not sure but I think Gilmour got thrown out for a knee on knee on Varata. I could be mixing up more than one game though.

Was at the Gilmour - Varada game, Gilmour didn't just 'take a run at him;' he literally went from the penalty box boards to the bench side boards full tilt to get a piece of Vaclav. And he clearly was hoping to INJURE him, not just hurt him.

Always liked Dougie as a player and was very happy to find out the Sabres had traded for him (probably the 4th favorite trade at the time for me behind Lafontaine, Hasek, and Hawerchuck); but the way he tanked in Game 7 against the Pens still sticks out for me. Running Varada was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Gilmour's sweater is the only non-pro weight one I own and I haven't worn it in at least 8 years (probably 9).

Go figure....one of the most instinctive players in the game who had an edginess and was a natural leader.....didn't work well with Ruff?

yeah, go figure. wonder if Ruff will ever get enshrined in the NHL HOF. Maybe for the most mediocre coach with the most longevity with one team.

Stuff like that tends to happen when you have 4 consecutive years of high 1st round draft picks. Hmnnnnnnn......????

And people were doubting that he would cut it because of his weight.

I was hinting more along the lines of Briere, Hall, Eberle and the Nuge instead of Vanek......once upon a time.

I can only imagine what that young line in Edmonton will be like when they all reach their peak. Scary good.

The operative word you used being "when" and the other operative word you did not use being if. When they go by 70 goals and 150pts as a line they are on their way to good.Scary good is beyond that. :D
