You misread me. I am saying Briere was not physical, but a perfect center. Most centers aren't "physical".

True but we have not had a hard working center like briere since briere, I do think Roy has the potential but so far this year that has not happened (probably due to injury). I would like to see a more physical presence from the sabres centers: Drive to the net, dig pucks out from behind the net, overpower opponents def at times.

Actually you said the Sabres physical centers are Gaustad and Adam? Then you begin backtracking and I'm sure if I had the time, you would debate what you said all night long, but instead I'll go back to ignoring you.

Actually what I said, was that outside of Adam/Gaustad the sabres dont have a physical type of center. I am not backtracking. I am saying Adam has been more of a physical center than Leino or Roy so far this season and i think it has to do with his size (to some degree but not exclusively). Please continue to ignore my posts because if I said: Enroth has played well this season you would find a way to nitpick that.

I try...I really try to ignore your posts. Then you suck me back in with a post stating that Adam is physical. Seriously? He is about as soft as they come. Did you just look at his height and weight and declare him to be physical, or do you actually watch the games?

You fellas have me lost.

A soft center IMO would not get to the front of the net, would get pushed off the puck, and would lose most of his battles for pucks, or would refuse to go into tough areas. Adam is not a soft player by that standard.

If you for some reason mean soft to be not a fighter, not

giving open ice body checks . Well then he might be soft. (Even though I think that is on odd idea)

I don't see Adam as soft either. He definitely goes to the net and plays well along the boards. And he's not afraid to establish position, even if it means pushing the defender out of the space he wants. He's not much of a body checker. And he's obviously not looking for fights. But the kid isn't soft. I'll go as far as to say that out of the top 6, he might be 2nd only to Vanek in terms of willingness to establish position in tough areas.

On top of it, people are romanticizing Briere. Sure, he'd go into the corners once in a while, but his trademark play was coming from the "back door" to score. And he liked to spear a guy in the nuts once in a while. Anyone holding Briere up as an example of a physical center is delusional.

He might not drop the gloves every night, but that isn't his job.

What he does well is crash the net when his wingers are skating in from the boards. That's my definition of a physical center.

He may not throw his weight around in the defensive zone, but he certainly does around the net.

He is soft in term of physical play along the boards. I am not referring to him as soft because he is not a fighter.

Blue my respect for you runs long and deep, but I think upon further review Adam plays as physical as the position calls for.

Dale Hunter, Jeremy Roenick, and Jerome Iginla might disagree with you that centers aren't tough.

the key word in the post you were replying to is "most". There are exceptions of course.

And Iginla is a winger.

What started this discussion was a statement that Gaustad and Adam are the Sabres centers who are physical. I can't think of two more opposite players when you look up the definition of hockey players that are physical.

I'm not down on him as a prospect. I think he has potential to be a 20-25 goal/50-60 point player in the NHL.

PS Thanks for the compliment. :)

Thats it??? I think he will be a 70-80 point scorer and if he always has wingers like he does now I think he can produce at a PPG pace just like he has at every level he has been at.

A cheap shot bitch, the cryer, and hUh?

Anywho there are lots of tough centers but they don't play the boards or regularly go into corners was more the point.

I just wonder who you might consider a tough center? What are the things that that guy does?

I equate soft with being 'unwilling' to make physical contact for position.

I've heard mention that when ink goes to the urinal he talks about bringing out some "respect". So there's that.

Thornton, Richards, Getzlaf, Staal, etc... All skilled centers. All willing to throw a body check. Just my preference, I don't understand players who aren't willing to throw an occasional body check. I'm not saying they don't have a place on the team, but when your roster is filled with such players(which the Sabres is), they will struggle come playoff time against teams that forecheck hard and battle along the boards for loose pucks.

Adam is credited with 4 hits in 10 games. Your okay with it. I'm not. I don't want him off the team. I don't want to turn him into a 4th line grinder.

I'll move on.

Guys who can score at the 70-80 point level on a consistent basis don't fall off trees. Easier said than done. Last season there were 24 players who scored 70+ points, and out of those 24, only 9 hit the 80+ point mark.
