X. Benedict Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 The Calgary flames drafted 3 calder award winners in three consecutive years from 83-85. Name them. Tough one......Joe Newendyk (sp), Brent Sutter, Al Mckinnis? Just guessing.

X. Benedict Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 Haven'tgotaclue (83), Hull (84), Nieuwendyk (85), Hull played for Calgary?...I never would have remembered that.
wjag Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 Hull played for Calgary?...I never would have remembered that. 6th round draft pick..
wjag Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 Haven'tgotaclue (83), Hull (84), Nieuwendyk (85), So it's not Hull. I cheated and looked... Suter, Nieuwendyk and M...
LGR4GM Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 Giguere going for Avalanche against his old team... wonder how that will go down.
shrader Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 The boys at hockeyfights.com were labeling this one an early fight of the year candidate. The first half of that fight it looked like Janssens was hanging on for dear life just trying not to get an orbital bone broke, then when McGrats started to punch out Janssens put on a counterpunching clinic. Near the end Janssens caught him flush and I think stunned the monster more than a little bit. Great fight. And fantastic job by the much smaller Janssens. :worthy: Nice post X Edit- ya gotta love the two of them jawing at each other and egging each other on in the middle of the fight. Great stuff to watch. There's always something strange about something being labeled anything of the year when the year is only 1/40th complete. If I were Korab, I'd give you (or hockeyfights)crap for getting way ahead of things. :D
wjag Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Kessel sucks.. He just got his 6th of the year...
spndnchz Posted October 18, 2011 Author Report Posted October 18, 2011 Kessel sucks.. He just got his 6th of the year... Just waiting for Connolly to ###### up his game. lol

BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Winnipeg is beating Pittsburgh 2-0... damn.
X. Benedict Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Winnipeg is beating Pittsburgh 2-0... damn. I'm having a hard time thinking of Winnipeg as an Eastern team.
X. Benedict Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 BTW.....Kevin Dineen (formerly of the Sabres' Pirates) has revamped the Florida system. Brian Campbell is getting tons of ice team, there is a forecheck. They are an interesting team to watch.....(I don't think I've said that this decade) But ...If ever a team needed to revamp the sweaters ....man those things are ugly.
Eleven Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 I'm having a hard time thinking of Winnipeg as an Eastern team. We all had a hard time thinking of Toronto as a Western team, too, but we all did it for a while, even if "Western" was disguised as "Campbell."
Calvin Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 in what weird parallel dimension are the avalanche and the Islanders better than us? Seriously? 1 loss and we dropped to 7th? laughable omfg the laughs are higher... :death: i'm not pro-rankings either, but it looks like they pretty much made it clear that the Super 16 is for form teams, not who the better teams are overall.. Welcome to the first installment of the Super 16, NHL.com's foray into ranking the League's top teams. This list isn't necessarily designed to rank the teams based on record, but it attempts to go deeper to see which teams are playing well in spite of their record or vice versa. Can a team with one win and two points really have a better ranking than a team with 5 points? In this case, absolutely.

Versteeg is having a good night, it would be great to see him carry it through the entire year. There is no reason why this kid shouldn't net you 25-30 goals a year for a long time. I wish the kid was in the blue & gold.
X. Benedict Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 good to see Panthers move away from that neutral zone bog down strategy maybe now we can get back to thrashing them properly They brought in a lot of guys that can forecheck....Versteeg, Bergenhiem, Fleishman, Upshall.... And the offense seems to be designed around Campbell. Who is having a four point night.

They have decent players, and good coaching. Just gotta put it all together. I am not thinking as highly of Toronto. They are gonna start to unravel at some point.

If Kessel can provide fairly consistent offense and Reimer gives them good consistent goaltending, there is no reason to believe they won't be right there fighting for a playoff spot. Like most teams in the league their success will hinge of staying healthy and catching a few breaks along the way.

To miss for that long in the NHL is atrocious.
Cereal Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Winnipeg is beating Pittsburgh 2-0... damn. 2-1 now. It'd be great to see Winnipeg get their first win, and Pittsburgh lose at the same time... I wonder how disappointed the WPG fans are that Crosby's not playing? They brought in a lot of guys that can forecheck....Versteeg, Bergenhiem, Fleishman, Upshall.... And the offense seems to be designed around Campbell. Who is having a four point night. For whatever reason, I've caught parts of 2 or 3 Panthers games recently. It seems Fleischmann has been playing very well. Versteeg's also been hot (as far as scoring, at least), apparently.

Like most teams in the league their success will hinge of staying healthy and catching a few breaks along the way. Right. I just don't think Kessel will stay hot. He has been streaky in the past. Also, Reimer hadn't faced the test of an entire season. I think they have a decent D, and a decent future, but not enough quality depth. I think they are a bubble team again this year, and won't make it.

After the first Jets W In many years I dont think the fans there cared one bit about Crosby.

You can't think of any? :D 50 pts would be a good year.
