inkman Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 As far as Asham's antics, meh...it was classless but consider the source. I get the feeling he'll get his on the ice.
wjag Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 There will be a lot of talk about this one tomorrow. You stay classy, Arron. Very Ray-esque
Eleven Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 I wonder if Lemieux will suspend Asham. You know, to clean up the game.
Weave Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Meh. May and Ray used to pull stuff like that all the time. Ray moreso than May. I bet if Barnaby ever actually won a fight he'd do the same. Asham has the stuff to back it up too so I don't think he's worried about getting his due.
Marvelo Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 meanwhile, Ottawa stinks. http://www.ottawasun.com/2011/10/13/sens-stink-in-loss-to-avs

He apologized for his actions after the game. Even called himself classless. Beagle took the fight. He knew what was coming.
LastPommerFan Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 He apologized for his actions after the game. Even called himself classless. Beagle took the fight. He knew what was coming. I read the article this morning that quoted the apology. I like that he put the blame on himself, it's never right to mock an injured player, but Beagle is an idiot. Basic survival instincts are important to continued survival.

I didn't see the game but when you have that frothing Ottawa media on their own team like that, I almost feel bad for Murray and Co. Maybe they give up Alfredson if they're out of it early?
X. Benedict Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 Very Ray-esque A good point, of course. However, Jay "Shpittin' Chicklett's" Beagle ain't Tie Domi. :D

I saw Ashams apology interview after the game. It seemed genuine. He was hyped up, it happened. Beagle shouldn't have dropped the gloves if he didn't want knuckles to his face.
bunomatic Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 He apologized for his actions after the game. Even called himself classless. Beagle took the fight. He knew what was coming. And as the man says Beagle was wearing a visor. Not sure but maybe he should have shed the visor before he steps in the ring. Most guys do. As far as being classless Asham just lumped himself in with guys like Domi,Ray,Carcillo etc that have all showboated after decisive wins. Like you say,at least he was man enough to apologise afterwards.

Just imagine the additional damage that could be caused by a KO'd helmetless player falling to the ice.

darksabre Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 I would have celebrated that KO too. That was pretty. At least Asham didn't just let him drop. He knows how to set a guy down.
Andrew Amerk Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 At least it was only Asham handling Beagle, instead of Michael Vick.

If someone sucker punched somebody and then did the ole hand wiping gesture it would be different. Especially in front of your home crowd. And as for Kaleta celebrating after Dorsett, meh. They were going after Kaleta all game. Dorsett came over and pushed your star player, Vanek. How many times do some on this board say the team has no balls? Not sticking up for their teammates? Dorsett thinks he's gonna just push Vanek around and not have any retaliation? Kaleta kicked his ass. In front of the home crowd. Dorsett's not laying dead on the ice. A few hand slappers are justified.

A few hand slappers are justified. I agree with this completely. Beagle stepped up to the plate, willingly dropped the gloves, and lost a fair and square fight against an experienced but far from heavyweight opponent. It was a decisive loss - too bad for beagle, but good for him for stepping up. Guys have been doing the handwash for decades at least. BFD. He didn't know Beagle was hurt, if indeed anything is hurt other than his pride. Asham's "apology" was unnecessary. He is simply pandering to the mamby pamby neutered attitude that is slowly taking over this game. The moral of the story is "If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch, Mr. Beagle".

You know, I'm not so sure that he didn't know Beagle was hurt. Like you said, the hand wash gesture is pretty standard, but that additional sleeping gesture isn't. That was the stupid part. But hey, he quickly realized it after the game and made the appropriate comments. I've never been a fan, but I like the way he handled it afterwards.
Weave Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 DiPietro concussed. Tim Connolly with a blocker mitt and pads
dEnnis the Menace Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 DiPietro concussed. that man is almost as injury prone as Timmy...
Andrew Amerk Posted October 14, 2011 Report Posted October 14, 2011 And somewhere in the world, Eric Lindros is confused.
