waldo Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 Hope the Sabres play a ton of 80s music during the home opener. It seemed to work well for the team in Europe.
wjag Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 Boston just got shut out by Colorado. :clapping:
Bullwinkle Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 So that's a big no. :( Hate to say it but Versus is a lot like Golisano... love the fact that they were there when the league needed help, and provided a place for hockey fans to watch games. But their coverage is still lacking. In my opinion it's kind of a joke, there should be at least two games on every day, one east and one west. And NHL Network should step in and show another game every night at 7. That way hockey fans have options. I can't imagine that Bull Riding and card games bring in more viewers than hockey games on Versus. Unfortunately we're looking at 10 years of two or three games a week on a Versus and sometimes NHL network shows HNIC... /mini rant With all of those games being shown, who needs NHL Center Ice? So to drive that need, which is an NHL money maker, they televise fewer games.

So to drive that need, which is an NHL money maker, they televise fewer games. They're only hurting themselves... Center Ice is hardly worth the cash. You'll get a selection of games but you can only watch one at once, so it still only amounts to two games per night tops (except on days with afternoon games). GameCenter I would consider since it's portable and one could hypothetically watch a game at work ( ) or school, or at a friends house, a hotel, wherever. I know you're right but it's just annoying. Even one game a night would be adequate, but it definitely needs to be more than there are now.
LabattBlue Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 I was flipping through the Center Ice channels during the free preview and none of the games were in HD. Is this the norm? If so, what a huge waste of money for those who pay for it.

Sabres Fan in NS Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 http://espn.go.com/nhl/powerrankings Buddy Pierre must be Canadian, eh!!
Matty Ice Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 Malkin is going to miss his second straight game. Do you think Pens fans are going to start getting nervous?

Samson's Flow Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 Buy low... So were getting Crosby?

Andrew Amerk Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 Malkin is going to miss his second straight game. Do you think Pens fans are going to start getting nervous? The Pens have seemed to do fine without him, although their Power Play struggled HEAVILY against Edmonton. I think they went 1 for 10 or something to that effect.
SabresMojo Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 Crosby is seeking advice from a doctor today to be cleared. If so, he could be playing within a few games.
SabresFan526 Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 Interesting situation for the Dallas Stars. Because Sean Avery cleared waivers for the New York Rangers, he is now reporting to Hartford. According to TSN Bob McKenzie, there is a weird quirk in the CBA such that even though New York claimed Avery from Dallas on re-entry waivers, Dallas is only on the hook for his cap hit only if he is playing at the NHL level. Since he cleared and is now an AHL player, the Rangers and Dallas both get cap relief because of it. Well, the problem for Dallas is that they are now under the salary cap floor. Perhaps the Sabres could work out a trade to give some more cap relief, perhaps Hecht? Maybe the Sabres could trade Morrisonn to Dallas and if he clears re-entry waivers in Dallas, the Stars will be back above the Cap Floor. However, the Sabres could not put Morrisonn on re-entry waivers and hope the Stars pick him up as I think in that situation, the Sabres would be over the Cap for half of Morrisonn's salary. Interesting quirk to the CBA.

IDK how accurate that is... he is seeking clearance for contact, but given that it's Sidney Crosby, I'm guessing they would wait at the very least a week, probably two though, after such a clearance to see if any symptoms return during contact in practice. That's just my own personal view on it... I could be wrong, maybe he'll be playing this week...
Samson's Flow Posted October 11, 2011 Report Posted October 11, 2011 Crosby is seeking advice from a doctor today to be cleared. If so, he could be playing within a few games. I would think that 'cleared' would be cleared for contact in practice. The penguins aren't going to put him on the ice until they are 100%+ sure he is healthy.

LGR4GM Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 ...pittsburg won, and the idiots on NHL Overtime on Versus can't stop gushing about how amazing the Pens are... I just looked at their schedule so far, other than the Canucks they have played a crappy oilers team, a crappy flames team, and a crappy panthers team... so spare me the Pens are awesome speech and they have a great defense and Fleury will win the vezina.

I'll say it. I think Fleury is overrated.
Andrew Amerk Posted October 12, 2011 Report Posted October 12, 2011 I'll say it. I think Fleury is overrated. I would agree. I think he is decent, but not one of the best. I do think the Pens D is pretty good though.
