X. Benedict Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 It'll be interesting to see how he performs. One ex-sabre I might well keep an eye on. Good news on Doughty, even as an opponent I wouldn't like to see him sit out. Interesting, isn't it? Especially Feaster's hint that Butler is better than Regher. For their purposes, (they needed more mobility on their line) he probably is.

I don't know that Butler is a significant upgrade over Regehr when it comes to mobility - I watched Regehr a lot in the leafs game last Saturday, and I was impressed with how well he moved - I was expecting a bit more of a plodder. I think everyone is going to be VERY pleased with Regehr as the seasons starts and we get a chance to watch this guy play.

I watched Calgary/Phoenix last night...Butler looks comfortable and keeps the skates moving. He does everything pretty well, but he's not a flashy player. He'll be a steady addition with a regular pairing and ice time for them. Regehr can get up and down ice....but those skates really looked heavy in the back to back games last weekend. But it is his stay at home crease clearing nastiness that is going to benefit Buffalo. He's got a knapsack full of nasty that we'll see very soon. :)

I mostly tuned in to see if Byron would make that roster. I think it's probably 50/50. He skates well, nice vision, feisty, and pretty fast.
X. Benedict Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 Paul Byron sent to the A http://blogs.calgaryherald.com/2011/09/30/flames-dispatch-byron-and-bouma-to-abby/ I think he plays in the NHL this year though.

papazoid Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 The Los Angeles Kings agreed to terms with Drew Doughty on Thursday after the star defenseman skipped the first 13 days of training camp, the team announced via Twitter. They did not release terms of the deal, but a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun that the contract is for eight years, $56 million with an annual average of $7 million.
Eleven Posted September 30, 2011 Report Posted September 30, 2011 as i had speculated, the banana toss was never intended as a racist act and was a pure over reaction from the league http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/news;_ylt=AvApITo8k6VtopvkVyRbwIp7vLYF?slug=ap-bananathrowing RIght. Because... WhoTF eats bananas at a hockey game? BANNED. Unless he had an infant with him, which infant was going to eat mashed bananas as an in-between-period snack... F it... Let's not be so naive. The guy was intending a racist act the whole time. He seized his moment and went for it, because he's a jackass.

This guy would have made a great skit. They could show him throwing the banana and getting caught acting mortified. Cut to a scene where the guy is caught at a cross burning then acts mortified. Cutting to a Nazi party meeting where he gets caught and acts mortified. He could be a reoccurring character, The Accidental Racist.
bunomatic Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 One punch KO....... http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/105275 He led with his face.

inkman Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 But why would his lawyer lie to us? Isn't that what they do?
LastPommerFan Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 Isn't that what they do? I believe they refer to it as creative-truth-tellingTM

That is hilarious! I love how some people are so willing to take this guy's word for it. He couldn't possibly be trying to cover his ass now that he was caught, could he?
cdexchange Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 Love this part of the article too: "Lawyer Faisal Joseph says Chris Moorhouse was caught up in the drama of a tense game featuring his favorite hockey team and threw the banana at the Philadelphia Flyers’ Wayne Simmonds(notes) in hopes of preventing the winning goal." This guys does know that preseason games don't actually count, right?

LabattBlue Posted October 3, 2011 Report Posted October 3, 2011 As a former mod, I understand that there are members who if left unattended would start new threads like there was no tomorrow, but do we really need just one thread for all NHL talk that is not Sabre related?

Sometimes, as u know, it breaks into full fledged discussion. If you want just ask and I'll pull the topic out of Around the NHL into it's own thread. I'm here to please, that's why I make the big bucks. PS ya know, since u left mod-dom we now have ice cream socials on Wed. and bubble hockey on the weekend. j/k PSS "And thank you for your service".

The kicker is, I'm not even much of a beer drinker, and when I do, it is usually 1 or 2 Coors Light(Here come the beer connoisseurs after me). Maybe it's time to change my username.
