Bob Gainey is also out in Montreal, Serge Savard is in as an advisor to help hire new GM.

Hopefully they will get things turned around. The NHL is just better when teams like Montreal are good. They are the Yankees of the NHL.

Gauthier fired as Canadiens GM. per nhl.com

Why fire the GM and Coach with five games left? That's retarded,, Are you telling me this decision could not wait until the end of the season?

Why wait till the end of the season like other teams will. It gives the Habs a head start on finding replacements.

They probably won't have a GM for the entry draft.

No response by the Bruins after a rough boarding by Jason Chimera. McQuaid went down in a heap and immediately grabbed his head with both hands. He did turn away toward the boards but Chimera probably shouldn't be skating that hard into the boards.

Officially, the call is a charging major and a game misconduct.

I'd suspend McQuaid for being an idiot.

He's was almost certainly concussed. That should take him out for a few games at least..

Boston's PP looks as bad as the Sabres' mid-season.

Sabres taught Washington how to PK.

Brian Duff! Boston doesn't look too hot, but Washington looks worse. Let's hope Nevy does as good a job against Boston as he did with the Sabres.

The Rangers, Bruins, and Devils look surprisingly vulnerable down the stretch.

islanders are 1-0 up against the pens. pittsburgh looked very average for the first 20. strange to see that lot going through a bit of a slump, particularly at such a critical time

Sid the Kid took a puck to the nose from close range, blood all over the ice. Pretty gross.

SIDNEY CROSBY TAKES PUCK TO FACE. AS PART OF THE NHL'S CONTINUOUS COVERAGE AT 5PM EASTERN WE WILL HAVE AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE PUCK.

Brian Duff rocks. They showed the clip of Chimera's hit on McQuaid, with Jack Edwards blabbing about how AWFUL of a hit it was, and when it ended Duff was just like, ".... Well I wonder what Jack Edwards would be saying if it was the other way around" (paraphrased). So true.

I don't see a suspension for Chimera. Maybe a 1-2 game because it was a bit of a "charge" but to me McQuaid put himself in that position at the last minute, and the actual collision wasn't even that bad.

That is three months away and i will assume they still have their scouting staff in place.

It is a little trickier for the Habs filling vacacies...they basically have to let everyone in the league know they are looking, because there is a more limited pool of bi-lingual candidates available.

I don't have NHL Network (grrrrrrrr) so I can't see the game. What happened to Vokoun? He just came back from an unjury.

No word yet, he just skated right off, slowly, following a stoppage.

I hear he's got issues with Hunter. Haven't heard any details about that. I think he's still pissed about what his agent did to him during the offseason.
