LastPommerFan Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 Winnipeg lost, Ottawa lost, Florida won. We need to catch Washington. Ottawa is coming back to earth after a month of stellar play. They could fall off the table, and I would love it. They have been winning this whole season with smoke and mirrors. We really need the rangers to hold on to the 1 seed, because Pitt will sweep us. Boston is beatable too if we could somehow get to the 7 seed. We're like Rocky in his second fight against Clubber Lang. You're not so bad! Better yet, lets catch Ottawa, have Florida catch Boston, and we'll start the playoffs in Miami. How about that match-up?

shrader Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 Better yet, lets catch Ottawa, have Florida catch Boston, and we'll start the playoffs in Miami. How about that match-up? I think that's exactly what is going to happen (the Florida catching Boston part). With the way things are playing out in both conferences this year, I think it's time to remove the rule where the division winners get the top seeds. Give them an automatic playoff berth, but not the top seed. The Northeast, Southeast, and Pacific divisions don't deserve the right to host a series this year. It's amazing to see just how dominant the Atlantic and Central have been this year.
bunomatic Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 Did TO just completely kick it and lay over for the Isles, or is it just my imagination? It looks to me like they've already quit on the new coach. What a scenario that would be for Burke to contend with. He could always bring back Wilson who is still under contract for 2 more seasons.lol Burkes a chump.

I was listening to some stuff on XM radio yesterday and they were saying that Burke will step up at the end of the year and take full blame for what has happened. All I could think after hearing that was "so does that mean he'll give Wilson his job back"? It should be interesting though. Does he change plans yet again and go back to the type of team he was originally trying to put together?

I don't care what he does - I just want him to remain GM of that team - they are going nowhere fast with him at the helm.

Can I get an 'amen' brother? amen! amen! i say it again: amen! we talk about sample sizes around here from time to time. back in december, when the leafs were atop the standings and connolly was a productive player, i had my doubts about the universal order of things. but, things have a way of evening out over an 82-game season. thankfully, in the case of the leafs. let's hope that our fate evens out within the top 8 this year (granted, that does not appear likely at this point -- but still ... possible).

Why are you picking on Timmay? He's averaging a half point per game and is a minus 10. :w00t:

He's averaging a half point per game and is a minus 10. :w00t: in a neat bit of irony, it looks like he will give the leafs just about (actually a little less than) what he gave us last year. 2010-11 68G 13/29 (42) -10 2011-2012 62G 11/20 (31) -10

Or do we have to wait 2 years until Lindy is fully out of his system?
Weave Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 Does that mean we can't blame Lindy for his play? Or do we have to wait 2 years until Lindy is fully out of his system? I think it depends on your exposure to Lindy. For someone who's been with Lindy as long as Connolly has, 2 years might be the half life of Lindytonium. Might be even longer.

All I could think after hearing that was "so does that mean he'll give Wilson his job back"? Coaching change worked for ONE team this year. Out of what, six? Seven? Gotta have the players. in a neat bit of irony, it looks like he will give the leafs just about (actually a little less than) what he gave us last year. 2010-11 68G 13/29 (42) -10 2011-2012 62G 11/20 (31) -10 That is the opposite of irony. Connolly is producing the expected result!
dEnnis the Menace Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 Evgeni Nabakov signs an extension with the Isles... :o
That Aud Smell Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 That is the opposite of irony. Connolly is producing the expected result! not unfair. i guess i had it in mind that there was some expectation that connolly would/could do more for the leafs than he did for the sabres. and there was a point in time where it appeared that he would do just that. maybe rather than "irony" i should have said "cosmic justice."
darksabre Posted March 21, 2012 Report Posted March 21, 2012 Evgeni Nabakov signs an extension with the Isles... :o :worthy:

Punch Posted March 22, 2012 Report Posted March 22, 2012 @DarrenDreger Unless progress is made this week in sale of Coyotes.NHL will begin Plan B investigation next wk. Seattle, Que City, Vegas and KC in mix.
korab rules Posted March 22, 2012 Report Posted March 22, 2012 Radulov back in Nashville. Everyone loves a winner.
FogBat Posted March 22, 2012 Report Posted March 22, 2012 I don't care what he does - I just want him to remain GM of that team - they are going nowhere fast with him at the helm. Unless I'm mistaken, Burke seems to be all talk and flash but can't generate real results. Radulov back in Nashville. Everyone loves a winner. Uh-oh. They could be dangerous now.
rickshaw Posted March 22, 2012 Report Posted March 22, 2012 Kassian was out every time Keith out there and was doing his best to get at him. Keith showed a whole lot of pansy tonight. Doan is a hockey player. He manned up to his bad hit. Bieksa made many attempts to get at Keith and he wouldn't go. But Kassian was just fine tonight and just missed scoring in the 3rd.
Punch Posted March 22, 2012 Report Posted March 22, 2012 Passion? I think the Vancouver front office was looking for more Sasquatch like behavior. I was trying to be generous.
iliketofrolic Posted March 22, 2012 Report Posted March 22, 2012 Kassian didn't take care if business on the spot? Lindy must still be in his head. Lindy is responsible for the terrible play of any player that has ever looked at him or been within 100 miles of him. He is also responsible for Sidney Crosby's concusssions.
