rickshaw Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Kassian just got his assss kicked by Staubitz. He took 2 real solid shots on the button. But he showed he can take a punch at least.

Staubitz is a legit NHL tough guy. Kassian did his job by challenging him after he had taken a couple of runs at the Sedins. Over time Kassian's game will come together. He has shown he has all the tools, it's a matter of consistency and maturity.

Smart move by Kass, as Canucks fans were probably starting to wonder what they had traded for. Funny reaction at 0:50 will help warm the crowd up to him.

Funny reaction at 0:50 will help warm the crowd up to him. I noticed that too. He certainly didn't seem to mind too much getting the worst of it, did he? Reminds me of a couple other tough guys who used to be Sabres property, Brad May and Jeff Cowan. Both of them seemed to relish getting hit. Granted, May generally did more giving than receiving.

shrader Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 So I was watching highlights on the NHL network last night and for some idiotic reason they compared Jagr coming back from Russia to Lemieux coming back from cancer.

Jsixspd Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 OMG - didn't realize he had the same number as Connolly - that's the kiss of death right there. I can clearly recall fans writing that "Connolly is (was) the cancer killing the Sabres. " Shows how beloved he was.
Redemption City Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Malkin just clobbered Johnny Boychuk. Somewhere Vanek is smiling.
TrueBlueGED Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 It's weird to think about, but Ottawa may actually overtake Boston for the division. I know Boston has 2 games in hand, but their lead is down to 2 points and they're just playing mediocre hockey. This would have seemed impossible back in December/January.
Weave Posted March 11, 2012 Report Posted March 11, 2012 Malkin just clobbered Johnny Boychuk. Somewhere Vanek is smiling. It would be more productive if Vanek tried to emulate Malkin there instead of just smiling.
Eleven Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 Boychuk or Lucic? Seriously, upon whom would you want revenge, if you could have it on one and only one? Me: Boychuk. Did it twice, to Vanek both times, and one was in the playoffs.

Did it twice, to Vanek both times, and one was in the playoffs. I agree, I seem to remember that at the time of that particular playoff play we had a 1 game to none lead, and a 2-0 game two lead. We still may have blown it, who knows, and that team wasn't going anywhere, but you still wonder what would've happened had vanek been healthy the whole series.

spndnchz Posted March 12, 2012 Author Report Posted March 12, 2012 Blackhawks give Carcillo a two year extension.
bunomatic Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 Carcillo has stretched little skill and a loose screw into a nice little career.

I beg to differ but ping-ponging the d-man into the goalie seems to be one of Kaleta's signature moves. He did it to Chara a few weeks back and the big goon came back to flatten him.
