Grabovski signs a 5 year extension. Rumors have the salary at 5.5 mil per. A little steep if you ask me.

First the Hemsky deal and now this. What the hell is going on? Just picture what these guys will get on the open market. I'm fully expecting someone to mention the Leino contract, but I get the feeling that may be put to shame this year.

That was the first thing brought up when I told my co-workers I cannot believe he recieved that much cash. Alteast Tim Connolly only has another year left on his outrageous contract. However, I'm not sure how many moves the Leafs can now make this offseason.

They'll have some room to make moves. Their only main RFA is Kulemin who had a big year last year but has really fallen back. He probably hasn't earned much of a raise. Their real question, as always, will be in net. Gustavsson is a UFA and I doubt he sticks around. They're going to have to be players in the trade market and with all the constant rumors, this is probably the year Schenn gets moved.

The real intersting stuff happens after next season when nearly half of their roster will be UFAs (pretty much all the forwards).

Olli Jokinen?

Like he said, thin year for FA Centres

i don't know about that, Burke seems to really be high on him, he keeps saying how the only reason they are still in the hunt for the playoffs is because of him. They could move Reimer, but i can't see them not trying to be a big player in FA to get whoever the top Goaltender is thats available. Burke has already made one desperation move to save face in firing Wilson (didn't help himself too much by going back to hire another buddy of his though to replace him), he needs to do something big or the fans will be chanting "Fire Burke" soon (and that will be sad cause I really like him as the GM of the Leafs  ). I think Schenn will be used as a trade chip too in the offseason, although i don't know if he has as much value as the Leafs would like to believe he does.

The stuff I've heard on Gustavsson lately is that he looks absolutely nothing like what he did style-wise in Sweden. Allaire has changed him and it hasn't been for the better, as his numbers clearly show. It makes me think Gustavsson can't be too happy with that and will get out the first chance he gets.

As for Reimer, he's only 24 and still has two years left on his contract. I can't see them bailing on a guy that young with a relatively affordable long term deal.

Haha, after the Wilson firing a reported asked Burke if Allaire would keep his position. Response - Allaire is the best goaltending coach in North America and he will maintain his position.

You can't throw all the blame on one guy but if the Leafs had any goaltending at all his team would easily be sitting in a playoff spot right now. Niether goaltender has done anything this season despite both showing flashes earlier in their career (just last season in the case of Reimer). I couldn't believe Burke said that with a straight face.

The thing with Gustavsson is that Burke likes what he saw in him the last few months and has credited him as being the reason they are still clinging to a chance at the playoffs. it may be possible that Gustavsson would want to leave, but I don't think it will be because Burke wants to let him go.

problem is, to upgrade the goaltending, you will have to give up one of the 2, so it would come down to who Burke thinks has the better potential. It wouldn't surprise me if Reimer only becomes a servicable backup in the league, alot of goalies can start out their career hot and fizzle after the first year

That line could be used anytime you here Burke open his mouth..........

What is Burke really supposed to say though? He's not going to bury a guy who is currently on his team. When asked a question about his goaltending, he has to say something.

But the point is, he could say nothing, instead he goes above and beyond and talks about how Gustavsson basically saved the season and kept them alive in the playoff hunt.

Burke isn't the kind of guy who hides things or is afraid of what people might think of what he says. Just today, there is an article on TSN about him hanging up during a radio interview because he didn't like the question being asked. Basically the reporter asked him if he felt he was "close to the door" (i.e. could be let go) and he went off on the guy about how dare he ask him something like that and hung up on him.

Tinman just fought Marchand!!!! Very impressed. No punches but he stood up and slammed him to the ice!

That was a great move by Timmy, to bad he couldn't have turned it into a pile driver

Lucic should have scored two or three goals against the leafs tonight.

Damn 'Canes just let the Caps tie it with 3 left in the third. I hope it goes to an 18 round shootout just to tire them out a bit more.

GO SABRES!!!

Leafs lose in reg, Caps lose in OT, Lightning down by one with a half period to go....

Bolts lose. I guess 1 out of 6 ain't bad. We need tomorrow night.
