JJFIVEOH Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 What about this hit on Briere by Vlasic? Not only was there no penalty, Vlasic's not even going to get a hearing!! http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2012/02/29/marc-edouard-vlasic-might-get-a-call-about-his-hit-on-danny-briere/

Not only was there no penalty, Vlasic's not even going to get a hearing!! http://prohockeytalk...n-danny-briere/ The follow through on the hit is what really bugs me there. You can make a good argument that it was impossible to avoid contact, but Pickles clearly follows through with a push.
Taro T Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 hopefully, we can put the locker room cancer thing to rest now. there was an interview years ago where someone was asked who was the biggest jokester in the locker room and the player said roy, that he is always making people laugh. can't remember who it was (gerbe? ennis?) so thats fine if you dont believe me, but it happened. And Tony McKegney ended up traded out of Buffalo because according to Scotty Bowman he was the ringleader when players were skipping curfew and the like. The teammates loved him, but management didn't view his 'leadership' to be a good thing to have around. I don't see Roy as the type of guy that is going to be a positive influence on the players around him. I don't see Roy as the type of player that is going to make those around him better. If he stays a Sabre, I hope that I'm wrong about that.

But Vlasic saw his head was down. There should be no question on this one!! Now if that were Kaleta...........

SwampD Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Got to watch this live tonight. Setoguchi failing miserably in the shootout http://t.co/UzR1hXYi At least he just blew a tire. I thought Heatly's attempt failed even worse.

If he stays a Sabre, I hope that I'm wrong about that. based on what? also, my parents went to a massive party this summer and derek was there with them and he didnt have a drink the whole time. his brother had a normal amount, but derek was fine. i love how dedicated sabres fans are....we are an awesome breed of fan....but who are we to judge these guys? we dont know what it is like to put forth that kind of INTENSE effort day in and day out. i love my job, but there is no way i give 100% all the time and my job is a breeze. even if i was being paid millions it would not change. if derek is a cancer, or a bad influence, then i am going to go ahead and trust that he is removed from duty in the near future by the staff. give the guy a break though....there seems to be nothing that he can do to please us. it is not his fault that he didnt grow into a 6'5" demon on skates. he is a good player and i think he does back check well, and he does show effort...and he is CHEAP! blah blah blah...sorry for the rant. go sabres....really looking forward to next year!
LabattBlue Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 Scheduling oddity...Beginning tomorrow, the Islanders play the Devils 3 straight times over the next 7 days.
nobody Posted March 3, 2012 Report Posted March 3, 2012 That last Isle goal in the NYI-Bos game. So if the play is going to be icing on Bos but the one Isle and 2 Bos players all miss the puck while it is near the end line and the puck roles out towards the blue line where an Isle picks it up. Wouldn't it be icing at that point? I guess the call is one of the Bruins touched it to waive off the icing even though there was no call on the play?

I wish the NHL would consider making it a part of the schedule. I also like the idea of the last month of the season being division games only.
LGR4GM Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 With Tampa and Toronto both winning but it looks like Florida is going to lose... another must win night to go along with the last 15 of them...
Bmwolf21 Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 I miss the weekend home and home games with division opponents. I wish the NHL would consider making it a part of the schedule. I also like the idea of the last month of the season being division games only. I'm noticing it more this year in the AHL, as well as teams coming in and playing back-to-backs in the same barn. Leads to some interesting games. Rochester and Lake Erie played a home-and-home a couple weeks ago and combined for 170+ PIMs over the two games. Just physical, tough hockey between teams that were getting sick or seeing each other, and tempers flared. I loved it. Tonight Lake Erie played Charlotte (in Cleveland) and they have them again at home tomorrow afternoon. With LE winning in a shootout and the game getting tough in the 3rd it could be an energetic game tomorrow afternoon (at least I am hoping).
biodork Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 Rask injured today against the Isles and left the arena on crutches: http://www.nhl.com/ice/blogpost.htm?id=7086 Boston has a busy schedule the next few weeks, so it'll be interesting to see how long Rask will be out and whether Thomas can carry the load.

I wish they would make all cross conference games happen within the first 50 games of the year. then have conference and division games there after
Punch Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 YMMV on how much you trust Bucky Gleason' sources, but in his Inside the NHL piece in today's Buffalo News he had this to say about the Kings' Dustin Brown: "* The Kings fielded several offers for winger Dustin Brown before deciding to keep him for the stretch run. Brown, on pace for his fifth straight 20-goal season, likely will be traded before next season. He has a $3.175 million cap hit and two full seasons remaining on his deal."

Perennially among the leaders in hits each season, Brown would be exactly what the Sabres need. A physical top line center. His contract is very cap friendly, better than Roy's.

When considering his contract and that it would take several pieces less to get him, he's as desirable an addition as Nash would be.

That's right, I don't know why I have it in my head that he was a center.

When considering his contract and that it would take several pieces less to get him, he's as desirable an addition as Nash would be. I believe he's just as comfortable and effective on either wing, and I've not heard of him at center. But I'm officially on Dustin Brown watch throughout the offseason. The Sabres were rumored to be strongly interested in him and the Kings were reportedly interested in Stafford. It almost makes too much sense.
Redemption City Posted March 4, 2012 Report Posted March 4, 2012 If Dean Lombardi trades Dustin Brown for Drew Stafford, i'll start making the effigy that Kings fans will be burning not long after.
CallawaySabres Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 And as Washington loses again, Buffalo can take the 8 spot as early as tomorrow night! Can't wait to welcome back the team on Wednesday...................
darksabre Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 And as Washington loses again, Buffalo can take the 8 spot as early as tomorrow night! Can't wait to welcome back the team on Wednesday................... This is weird. So weird.
bunomatic Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 Great game between the Bruins and Rags today. It would be scary to meet either of these teams as the #8 seed and expect to make it out alive. Especially if the series went 7 games. That game today was full of rough and tumble. Lucic managed to fight twice. The Rags have no shortage of players willing to fight him. I like how both of these teams play. Built for the playoffs.
RazielSabre Posted March 5, 2012 Report Posted March 5, 2012 This is weird. So weird. Oh come on, who didn't predict the Sabres would go on a run like this? It happens every year. Got to watch this live tonight. Setoguchi failing miserably in the shootout http://t.co/UzR1hXYi That really is one of the funniest clips of the season.
