OK, done. With 12 forwards and 6 d-men, we're looking at cap space of 2.663 million. Gragnani ain't signed, and we need to have enough for call-ups or pray nobody gets hurt.

So I was wrong that we're "way over the cap". But is this roster not cutting it too close for comfort?

can you please name and put salary with those 12 forwards and 6def plus miller and enroth just so we can look at what you are doing? And I think either a defender other than morrison or a RW gets moved (other than kotalik) prior to the start of the season and Kotalik and Morrison are either traded or stashed in rochester.

Sorry, it was this post from Drunkard that I made my initial comment on and then was responding to korab about:

Vanek Leino Pominville

Ennis Roy Stafford

Gerbe Hecht Boyes

McCormick Gaustad Kaleta

Regehr Myers

Ehrhoff Weber

Leopold Sekera

Gragnani

Miller

Enroth

I used NHLnumbers and just subtracted Kotalik's 3 mil and Morrisonn's 2.075.

For what it's worth, using capgeek I get:

64 300 000 - (67 895 357 - 2 075 000 - 3 000 000 - 525 000) = 2 004 643

And to respond to Chimp's lineups, I think maybe they've learned their lesson about expecting Hecht to play center, and will try for Leino, Roy, Goose, McCormick as the centers?

The difference is that Cap Geek lists Gerbe's salaries as $1.25M, $1.25M, $1.85M, which averages to $1.45M, but then lists his contract as totaling $4.30M, which averages to $1.43M. I used the $1.45M, while CapGeek's total cap calc used the $1.43M. It seems that the $1.85M is incorrectly entered, but that somehow is not linked to the contract's total salary calculation and cap hit. So, $2.005M is correct for their cap space.

Here's my spreadsheet:

ok thanks. I would be ok with that roster going forward. The question is Leino for me.

Also, I was at the Irishman last friday and they have the countdown to St. Patrick's day clock, can we get a countdown to the start of the season clock? i feel like there has to be a way to do it.

Interesting that Capgeek has numbers that do not add up. Seems like there should be automatic checks for things like that.

So, after hopefully adding MAG, we should have $1M-$1.3M left. Too close for comfort? How do call-ups from Rochester get factored in?

Although everyone on here hates Eklund, sometimes they have good things to read. Here's one about Leino, coming from the viewpoint of a Flyers fan.

Yea that was an interesting read, I think that if he has the puck possession skills that they claim then he was a good pickup. I feel like a lot of times last season we didn't have puck possession or sustained offensive zone time. Leino is talked about highly by a lot of ppl so let us see how all that goes in 71 days!

look for a variation of this trade to resurface....

Buffalo News reports that a source revealed that the Sabres offered Derek Roy ($4mil) and top prospect Zack Kassian to Ottawa for Jason Spezza($7mil) at the trade deadline but were rejected.

-add in Boyes($4mil) to make the cap work.

NO!! Not Spezza!!

And if you throw in Boyes, who will be our 4 million $ fourth line winger?????
