deluca67 Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Happy July 4th all! Wondering what people are cooking up this holiday. I am going with the All-American Burger with some grilled mushrooms & veggies (red peppers, eggplant and zucchini). What's on your grill today.
5th line wingnutt Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Butterflied and rosemary marinated leg of lamb. Also corn on the cob. French fries inside in the deep fryer, 'cause frys are very hard to get right on the grill.
Taro T Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 I didn't get a chance to dice up some chicken and soak it in speidie sauce for a few days, so I'll probably grill up some chicken in Chiavetta's and make a few Sahlen's for the kids. I'll have to pick up some cotc as well.

biodork Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 DeLuca's burger and wingnutt's lamb both sound awesome. Did my cookout Sat. night... I know this sounds yuppie, but Williams-Sonoma sells this amazing tequila lime marinade that is fantastic on chicken.
BetweenThePipes00 Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Burgers and the Sahlen's my wife ordered for me for Father's Day .... almost like being home ....
Two or less Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Just got done with my cook out which pretty much ends the holiday weekend. What a great time, starting with July 1st (Ehrhoff and Leino) and today grilling and talking hockey with friends for much of the day! As for what was on my grill.... -Polska Kielbasa -pineapple kabobs -asparagus Hope everyone had a great time today. ps. And of course Weber's mustard. Which is pretty cool, that he signed today. :-)

donteatyellowsnow Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 Chicken breasts in Chiavetta's, strip steaks and sliced pineapple. :)
FogBat Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 If you guys don't mind, I would like to share a rather unique 4th of July experience that I had back in 2001. Granted, it has nothing to do with what's grilling, but I thought that the events of that day were unique. I was with my unit in Kosovo as part of the KFOR peacekeeping force. On that day, I came across soldiers from different countries who were there, including the Russians. I faintly recall some of them from countries like Italy and Greece giving their greetings. I do know that a couple of Russians, whom I chatted with on occasion (nothing serious), came up to me and, in plain English, said, "Happy Independence Day". While I did appreciate their greeting (and yet have a kind of melancholy sadness that many people have forgotten what really started our break from the Brits), the full force of their simple greeting didn't really hit me until recently. Given everything that those Russians had been through in recent memory and throughout the entire history of their nation, it gave me pause to think that they know about our holidays better than we know theirs. Thus, I appreciate their thoughtfulness more than ever. Just a few simple words and their kind actions are things that will never leave my memory.

Weave Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 3 dozen little neck clams grilled and served with melted butter, lemon, and a dash of Tabasco. Grilled Thai shrimp lettuce wraps with a peanut sauce. And two grilled pizzas, pesto-ricotta and a middle eastern inspired hummus garlic and roasted veggie pizza. Finished off the meal with an oak aged double IPA and a Conneticut wrapper Perdomo torpedo. On to the whiskey. Life is good.

If not at the time, makes ya feel good for serving our great country. I have my own. During Operation Desert Shield in '91, a few of us were downtown Kuwait City and I had two females (in full Arab clothes) come up to me and shake my hand and say "thank you". They came up to just me and hurried off. I really did appreciate that and more so now, knowing that women in that country arent allowed to talk to strange men, let alone infidels from the west. Really made me realize that our country does do good things for the world, sometimes.
RuffMuff Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 Oh yea, had some steak, corn on the cob, dogs, bubba burgers. Local CT Robusto and some cold ones to finish the job.

I know that things like this don't normally make headlines in the news media, but it is actually refreshing to read accounts such as yours. :)

Wegmens just opned a superstore in the MD town where I live and they carry Sahlens! We are in hot dog heaven. No more importing from Bflo - hot dogs anyway. Cooked some up for ther 4th.
R_Dudley Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 Sorry didn't see this till now was too busy with the 4th festivities. Well since I live in the Pitt's with no outlet for some real Chiavetta's I did a poor mans version. A local good Dellallo italian dressing with some added spices and some big old Chicken breasts marinated overnight(yes I am a breast man although I do appreciate nice thighs, :bag: sorry i digress) and then slowly kingsford charcoal grilled with additional basting and many rotations ala volunteer fireman style with a little Guy Fiero'a bourbon barbecue sauce on the plate. Happy after holiday all.

X. Benedict Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 I had a Sahlen's with Webers mustard. Yum. My family is convinced that Webers recipe has become slighty spicer. Anyone notice that? I can't say I can tell.
