you're doing a great job. the only thing I'd change is the typeface of the Sabres Report headlines. It looks too thin to me. I'd like to see you use a fuller, bolder typeface like a Arial, like Google News uses...

Thanks.

That's is the fancy new font people are diggin'. IT is something different, so we will let it ride for awhile and see how it goes.

SDS I haven't read the entire thread so forgive me if this has been addressed. I like the new look but now when I log on and go to any topic it always takes me back to post #1 instead of the last post I read. This is maddening if you are trying to follow a conversation or topic and can't remember what page you were at at last reading. Other than that everythings just fine in my opinion. Thanks.

I'm actually uncertain what the default behavior should be.

A new reader shouldn't be taken to the last post, but a returning reader should. That may be too complicated to handle via an RSS feed. I know I did it before, but I'm not sure that was the best way to do it for everyone.

Well I thought if you were a new reader or it was a thread you had never been on before it always took you to the start of the thread. It used to jump you to the first post you had not read ... so it really only applied to "returning" readers ... "new" readers would not even notice the feature existed.

It's no big deal either way, but it was convenient.

so I need to find a way to append the get the new post tag.

I'll see what I can do.

As much as I like the new SabreSpace front, it does make me reconsider LastPommerFan's idea about the "more/less" option to show/hide the short descriptions under each article on the home page. (Thought it was in this thread, but I can't find the original suggestion.) With the new look I have to scroll a lot further down the page to see everything, and that makes me less likely to notice the items at the bottom of the page, which are actually pretty sweet. Yes, I know it's laziness, but I'd personally like to be able to see more at a glance than to have to scroll up and down as much.

I may try and tighten it up a bit over time. I can hopefully reposition/combine/eliminate the rating line, submission line, source line. Etc...

Design is always a tradeoff.

I like the concept, but find it hard to read. There is too much white. I think the article names should be bolder, and the snippets of text thereunder should be darker and either bigger or bolded.

Maybe its because I sit in front of a computer all day and my eyes are strained to begin with, but I find it very bright.

understood. I tweaked some stuff. maybe this will be more to you and dork's liking...

I have a separate forum for this:

http://forums.sabres...suggestion-box/

but it is completely empty. :(

What I want to know is how I can modify things here and on the front page to improve your experience? Is there some sort of social media integration, better like/dislike, bloggers, stats, schedule, profiles, or whatever that you use all the time elsewhere or would use here if it were available?

I'm probably in the minority, but I really dislike the newsfeed articles' headline font. Jazzing things up is cool, but it just seems like the headlines aren't as easy on (or appealing to) the eyes. I guess I'm gettin' to be an old codger, but if it wasn''t broke, why try and fix it?

Sometimes simpler is better...

wth, why did someone go through and negative rep a bunch of suggestions in this thread? All of them were constructive, and the button isn't for things you just disagree with. I'll echo several others in saying I dislike that feature. I've never used it, and I don't think it adds anything to the board.

Edit: FWIW, I just went through and +1 a bunch of them to cancel out the negative rep. Either someone doesn't understand how the feature is supposed to work, or they're just being a d-bag.

More likely they are using it as a protest to get rid of the feature...

Either way, it's not appreciated. Plenty of people are on the record saying they don't like it, so I doubt negative repping everyone's posts is going to make or break Scott's decision on that one. (KTN4GM's experience alone should have done it if that were the case!)

The space concern will likely become a bigger problem when we have 10 articles a day during the season.

Correction, the feature has no purpose. Those systems always turn into an online dick measuring contest.

I don't care about that plus/minus thing either. but if you are going to have it; I would like to see it where you see both numbers separated out. Having a +1 and a -1 has more significance than a 0.

I agree with this. And the ability to see who is "repping" your posts would be nice.

I just want to go back to the days where no one talked about this crap.

Another problem I have come across is the inability to change your "vote". I tried to +1 one of Shrader's posts but had bad aim (sorry Shrader but those buttons are really close together) and now it's a -1 that I can't revoke.

Also - posts can be edited but the plus/minus votes attached to them can't.

Neither issue is a problem in the big picture I suppose.

I'm not sure I'll be able to go on living after this one.

And on a completely random note, I miss your old Barney Rubble avatar.

It is better - looks like you dulled the background and brightened the fonts. There was a study done somewhere that determined which font was the easiest to read Not sure what it was - times new roman? Nope, verdana.link

Short of buying a bigger monitor, is there any way I can see what you put in that blank spot on the boards?

right-click: view background image.

just darkened the text and added the sabrespace logo on the ice.
