Campy Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Either way he doesn't fill our postional need down the middle, and signing him adds salary which makes everything more difficult. You seem to be operating on the assumption they're done making moves...
Iron Crotch Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Wow, bashing the newest signing already? I like the guy's game. He's young, he can score, he is a playoff performer. And, if we have/had credible reason to believe that we were never going to land Richards, they why not spend some available cash on a very good winger?

Charlemagne Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Most players don't have their rookie season at the age of 27. touche
james duncan Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 The Red Wings traded him away. He also only had 5 goals and 11 points on the power play. Wings fans I talked to were not happy at all about that trade. We'll see what happens.
Campy Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Most players don't have their rookie season at the age of 27. Good catch, I thought he was 5 years younger. My bad.
BRH Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 The Red Wings traded him away. He also only had 5 goals and 11 points on the power play. Relax. To those who say he had one good season, he's had two very good post-seasons. One is nice. Two tells you what kind of player he is in the clutch. Rather than say "so no Richards," I would say "so no Drury." Sounds like a lot of you would be happy with that. And I highly doubt we are done.
nucci Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 The Red Wings traded him away. He also only had 5 goals and 11 points on the power play. I believe you would find something negative to say if the Sabres win the cup. I understand skepticism but you take it to another level.
SabresCup2k12 Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Just heard on TSN that Sabres apparently are very close or have re-inked Tim Connelly for a reported 2 year deal worth 1.4 million a year.
LaLaLaFontaine Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 There must be something big ongoing. Maybe they trade Vanek for a center like Malkin? I believe the trade was fixed a few days ago. Mabe i am totally wrong. What is coming next?
TheMillerWall Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 It's funny, the only people that don't like the move are the group that are down on it here. I hated him in the playoffs last season, so I'm glad he's on my team now.
Robviously Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Just heard on TSN that Sabres apparently are very close or have re-inked Tim Connelly for a reported 2 year deal worth 1.4 million a year. Mother of God.....
james duncan Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Just heard on TSN that Sabres apparently are very close or have re-inked Tim Connelly for a reported 2 year deal worth 1.4 million a year. Watching---have not heard anything about this....
sabres1970 Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 No Connolly please! He cannot be our answer to center problem because he's been the problem since '06.
MattPie Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Somewhere, there's a SenLuca91 saying: Philly has gotten better. Montreal is getting better. Buffalo just got a whole lot better. And what has Ottawa done? Big, Bald, Alex Auld. Feels kinda nice, huh?
BRH Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Just heard on TSN that Sabres apparently are very close or have re-inked Tim Connelly for a reported 2 year deal worth 1.4 million a year. This post is missing the Peter Pan link. Please edit accordingly.
stevecana Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Just heard on TSN that Sabres apparently are very close or have re-inked Tim Connelly for a reported 2 year deal worth 1.4 million a year. The Leino signing is okay, but if a 2 year extension for Connolly is in the works, then  That would take some wind out of my sails, unless of course its a sign and trade type deal.
LaLaLaFontaine Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Just heard on TSN that Sabres apparently are very close or have re-inked Tim Connelly for a reported 2 year deal worth 1.4 million a year. 1.4 Million seems to be fair, don't like it much anyway.
Braedon Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 The Red Wings traded him away. He also only had 5 goals and 11 points on the power play. Look what he did once leaving Detroit. To use GODDs logic, maybe they have Babcock pegged with forwards not producing.
james duncan Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 1.4 Million seems to be fair, don't like it much anyway. Stop. Look at the money being spent. Connolly is going to end up making much more than this in a city other than Buffalo. I'm not buying this.
Iron Crotch Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 The twitter rumors have Connolly close to signing with the Leafs... of course, 99% of all NHL rumors have <insert player's name here> signing with the Leafs...
In The Buff Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 I like the pickup of Leino. He's a tough kid, has good hands, plays Lindy's 2 way style pretty well & he should fit in good here. I'm glad we didnt put all our eggs in the Brad Richards basket. I'm not saying that we're out of the running for him, but if we wouldve waited around, hoping to sign him & then we didnt get him, some of these other FA's couldve been gone & signed by other teams by then, leaving us with Chris Drury or Timmy C. It never hurts to add talent & better players to your roster & thats what we've been doing the past few weeks. With the exception of the 2nd coming of Kotalik lol I do hope Kotalik returns to his old form but i can see him in the minors too
SabresCup2k12 Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 I'd take playmaking connelly for less then 2 million. Right now a trade is the only option for a top tier center but it's going to cost u to get it. We're talking Vanek or Pominville or Miller or Myers type cost u here.
james duncan Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Dreger just added Calgary and Philly to the chase for Richards. T Peg wants to talk to him tomorrow.
TheMatrix31 Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 He was super bitchmade in the playoffs so I'm not crazy about having him on this team for now. Maybe he's part of a trade later.
