No sh#t. I'm sure as the day wore on today, a lot of people were thinking the same thing. Lindy has the D now, there are no excuses there.

They need to get the PP solid, and Lindy needs to "get through" to the guys who are supposed to be scoring. He has two and half months to get it right. :o

He still needs two centers. One scoring, one third-liner.

I know this ain't happening, but if they were to get Richards and Talbot in FA and traded Ennis, Sekera, a #1, and Enroth for Stastny and re-signed Cody and the other RFAs the lineup could look like this

Vanek Richards Stafford

Roy Stastny Boyes

Hecht Talbot Pominville

Gerbe Gaustad McCormack

Ehrhoff Myers

Regehr Leopold

Gragnani Weber

Miller

Lalime (I keed, I keed, UFA)

Not too shabby. Is it noon yet?

can we please trade roy instead of ennis?

It's not like they're strapped for cap space.

Your first sentence overrides your second sentence. Short bus status won't be determined until about All Star break time, maybe later than that. Just sayin'....

Ahhhh Weave, I was curious as to when you were going to embrace us with a post.

I'd much rather have Ennis in that lineup somewhere.

Maybe something like:

Vanek Richards Stafford

Ennis Stastny Boyes

Hecht Roy Pominville

Gerbe Gaustad McCormIck

...is more probable.

Think about this...if we're all giddy about the sudden switch in Sabre mentality, hopes, and dreams, exactly how elated do you think Pegula is right now? Imagine being him!!!

Just a hunch, but I think he was more elated when Royal Dutch Shell bought his company for $4.7 billion netting him a cool $3 billion. This is all pocket change for him now. He's just having fun and enjoying the ride, but none of this happens without Royal Dutch Shell. Thanks, Royal Dutch Shell!

I don't have any animosity towards the man. He's never done anything to me personally. I am witholding ALL judgement until I see what the team on the ice does. So far he's done what appear to be great things early with Rigas before the floor dropped out, seemed to catch a rules break, then *somebody* screwed the pooch player presonnel-wise. At this point my feeling is, "will the real Darcy Regier please stand up".

He might be a short bus rider buoyed by a Daddy Warbucks. He might very well be the best GM in hockey to never have a bigtime budget to work with. He's most likely somewhere in between. I'm not deciding which until we have a sizeable number of games to judge from, that's all.

C'mon Weave...suspending judgement?.......as a friend of mine put it "Darcy just turned Butler, Byron, Montador, and a 4th rounder into Regher, Ehrhoff, Kotalik, and 2nd and 7th rounders."

you have no opinion?...that's unlike you.

We have a long summer to suspend opinions.

Lol I've been in NO for the past 7 days. My SS visits have been short for the most part. In an airport gate as I type this.

I have an opinion, I just think it is silly to make a proclamation about the guy until we see the on ice product perform. Overall I like what I've heard but it all needs to gel before I'm willing to call any of it a great week in sabre nation

I've thought about it a bit more and while I haven't altered my opinion that a true grade won't be available until we see what DR does at the next FA frenzy, I have seen enough of his work over the past 14 or so years to state that he is not a short bus rider. I reserve that rating for the Milbury's and Waddell's of this world.

I don't know where he'll end up when it's time to put the pencils down, but I am quite certain he won't have a pretty picture where there should have been neatly filled out boxes. Nor will he have eaten his pencil (not so sure we could say that about Milbury).

Again, I am a little surprised that you aren't even willing to give DR that much credit. Maybe we have different definitions of 'short bus rider.'

Taro, I don't think he's retarded or anything. It is all hyperbole I assume.

Absolutely and I didn't mean to imply that you thought he was. Even Milbury manages to not drool on camera.

But, while I don't know how much better than Mike DR will show to be, I am willing to go 'out on a limb' and state unequivocably that DR is no Don Waddell.

I'm not too worried about that limb snapping.

It was 4 billion. ;)

Ugh. It's been almost a whole day since the Sabres added a new player. This is BORING. Why haven't we done anything?? This is taking FOREVER.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

But that is on the players and Lindy...

I don't believe so. I believe he had like a 60% share in the company. Per Wikipedia, it was $4.7 billion from Royal Dutch Shell. Forbes has him ranked with a Net Worth of $3 Billion.

Either way, who cares? He's ridiculously rich.

According to articles TBN was publishing this winter under multiple by-lines, it was $4.7B. ('Pegula drew violations as a gas driller,' James Heaney, January 30, 2011; 'Prospective Sabres buyer wows panel,' Bucky Gleason, January 30, 2011).

Terry Pegula is a ten-foot tall beast man who showers in vodka and feeds his baby shrimp scampi.

Did I ever tell you about the time Pegula went hunting? Well anyway, Pegula decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

Pegula's family crest is a picture of a barracuda, eating Neil Armstrong.

To Pegula!!!

Did I ever tell you about the time Pegula was in a production of The King and I? Well anyway, before the show, Pegula chloroforms the entire cast, and slowly eats them in front of the audience for two hours. The production got pretty good reviews.
