26CornerBlitz Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 Looks like Simon Gagne is headed to the Kings. https://twitter.com/#!/EJHradek_NHL
Derrico Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 Ouch. 4.75 for timmy? Maybe the change of scenary will be good for him. HAHAHAHHAHAHA, are we still overly upset with the Leino deal? $4.75 mil for an injury prone, soft, underachiever shoulds like alot. Good PK guy but you're not paying your PK guys that kind of coin. Should be interesting playing him 6 times next year.

A great contract for the Kings. The risk of injury will always be there. Still, a good short term risk.
TheMadCap Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 Looks like Simon Gagne is headed to the Kings. https://twitter.com/...#!/EJHradek_NHL Holy crap , the Kings are stacking it up. They have improved in a BIG way this offseason. Look for them to make a serious run to come out of the West this year....
SabresFan526 Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 Vokun to the Caps, 1 year 1.5 million... This is an unbelievable signing. The Caps have been fantastic this offseason with the larceny from Colorado in the Varlamov deal and getting Vokoun at such a cheap price. I think the Caps will go further than ever in the playoffs with Vokoun in goal. He's the best goalie they've had in the last 5 years.
Eleven Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 Ouch. 4.75 for timmy? Maybe the change of scenary will be good for him. IIRC the bars in Toronto close earlier than the bars in Buffalo, so maybe you're right.
FogBat Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 IIRC the bars in Toronto close earlier than the bars in Buffalo, so maybe you're right. Maybe we need to send a few bulls into Toronto's china shop.
Buffalo Sports Man Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 Paperwork being worked on between the Leafs and Tim Connolly. 2 year agreement @ $4.75 aav. - Dregger Done deal. Toronto is gonna love Connolly. Can't wait to get burned by him and Kessel every time we play. That just makes him a former Sabre who is still in the league. . VEVO/You Tube Fail - Advertisements and the larger files for VEVO accounts make for failed reports on Brandon Dubinsky's offer sheet.
cdexchange Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 IIRC the bars in Toronto close earlier than the bars in Buffalo, so maybe you're right. Haha, very nice.
North Buffalo Posted July 3, 2011 Report Posted July 3, 2011 ? If the Sabres are still looking for another Center, they should consider Vinnie Prospal. He is a high skill guy, little older so he could be had cheaply, was injured for a little while last year, only played 29 games, but managed 9 goals and 14 assists. Saw him play a lot down in SE NY and he can still score, is a great passer and still hustles. Could help teach the younger guys something about work ethic. Not as phyiscal as Jocken, but a better passer and scorer and better mucker in the corners.

Prospal is known for being a "swinger", and by that I mean, he has one good year...then one bad year...one good...one bad... he's been doing it for his entire career. Too inconsistent to be a first line center.

spndnchz Posted July 4, 2011 Author Report Posted July 4, 2011 Everyone on twitter confirming Talbot to the Flyers. Talbot and Jagr substituting for Carter and Richards? I'm not sure what Holmgren was thinking. 5 years, $9 million. Circumvention.
Warriorspikes51 Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 how about Cogliano or Brule out of EDM? I've always thought Brule had a ton of potential. Who knows..... either of those guys could be our 3rd line center.

Weave Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 We don't need a third line center. Unless you like the way Hecht performs at center then, yeah we do.
Taro T Posted July 4, 2011 Report Posted July 4, 2011 We don't need a third line center. The Sabres need a 3rd line center. If Leino pans out, I'd consider them having 2 - #2 centers, so I'd still maintain that they need a 1st line one as well. Either way, they still need at least 1 more center.
Bullwinkle Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 Unless you like the way Hecht performs at center then, yeah we do. Hecht usually doesn't play center. We have McCormick and Gaustad as 3rd/4th. Both are fine with me in that role. Sure, Talbot would have been an upgrade there, but I'm OK with both of them in those positions. Roy and Leino can fight for 1st & 2nd, but like someone once said, it's 2A and 2B fighting each other. Once we get an true nr. 1 (if ever), then we can realign the centers. But until then, we should be looking for a nr. 1, not a nr. 3.
Warriorspikes51 Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 We don't need a third line center. actually we do because Hecht shouldn't be playing center and Goose should be kept on the 4th line.

Hecht has played center more often than not since Drury/Briere left. And Goose and McCormick both belong on the 4th line. As the roster stands now your #3 center is Hecht. We need another center, #1 or #3.

As the roster stands now your #3 center is Hecht. We need another center, #1 or #3. Yep. If Goose and Cody are on the 4th line, you've got a very solid one. If they're making up the core of your 3rd line, let's hope the goalie's on his game because the other team's top line is lickin' it's chops. If 1 of them is on the 3rd line, I definitely want his wingers to be Hecht and Pomminstein. And I would prefer to have a true #3 center (or even another #2) rather than put Goose or Cody out there on a regular basis.
Lanny Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 And McCormick should be kept on the 3rd line. Did McCormick play much center last season?

My thought is that Lindy will probably have Gerbe playing with Hecht and Pominville for the first two periods and 10 minutes of the third period. Then, when he needs to go into lockdown mode, he'll put Gaustad with Hecht and Pominville to ice the game, take key faceoffs, and play against the other team's top scoring lines during the last few minutes of the game and then shorten the bench to three lines. Assuming there is no major shakeup in lineups and this is the team we have in October, I bet that's likely how it's going to play out. Just a hunch.
