Buzz Killington Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 And the peasants rejoice... Actually pretty happy, Gerbs is becoming my favorite Sabre
Oakstream Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 And the peasants rejoice... Actually pretty happy, Gerbs is becoming my favorite Sabre Same here! I'm exited to have him in the line up. Don't pat the Gerbe!
Robviously Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 Joy in the Shire!!! Still don't know the terms of the deal but it looks like Gerbe is already enjoying his new wealth. He was out this morning picking up chicks: Picture

tom webster Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 I admit that I was one who had little use for him and thought he wouldnt be able to overcome his size. However, I'm kind of excited to see how he develops. If he plays like he did after that Islander game in early February, he could be a legitimate 25/30 goal scorer with an edge to him.

Calvin Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 Good signing.. hope his hardworking spirit and determination catch on around the lockerroom
shrader Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 Good signing.. hope his hardworking spirit and determination catch on around the lockerroom I think we should actually see the terms before we call it a good signing.

I'd be happy with 20. My favorite Gerbe move is riding players into the boards by taking a shoulders to their hips - like he did with Chara.
spndnchz Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 3 years cap hit of 1.433 million. Nice. I assume it's a one-way deal well maybe I shouldn't. Two way at that price would be even better.

spndnchz Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 Is he RFA or UFA at the end of this contract? Still an RFA. Looks like a one way deal.

Robviously Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 Still an RFA. Looks like a one way deal. RFA. Neato. So either he becomes the 25 goal/year scorer we all want him to be and we can re-sign him again in 2014, or the last 40 games of last season were a fluke and he's just a small player who isn't costing us all that much for the next three years.
dEnnis the Menace Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 I like this signing. Fair deal, and not breaking the bank. I think he'll keep trending up.

carpandean Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 I had him penciled in at $1.5M in my cap spreadsheet, so $1.43 works.

Tom, those were my thoughts as well. I believed that his little body couldn't handle the size of players today. Back when Dionne played the guys weren't so big and so players like him not only survived, but thrived (I still believe he was one of the most underrated players of his time). But I'm happy to say that Gerbe has proven me wrong - so far.
Marvelo Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 I liked Gerbe all along. He's a character! That boy's got a motor! Hopefully they don't trade him now that they signed him.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 I had him penciled in at $1.5M in my cap spreadsheet, so $1.43 works. As I read this, I am watching Obama matter-of-factly discussing different US Default options. What interest rates do you have penciled in for 2014?
