Sterling Archer Posted June 28, 2011 Report Posted June 28, 2011 When did they start doing a "Best of" show? That's like a Simpsons clip show. And the guy that's doing it, went to high school with him, not exactly a sports guy. Seems a bit manufactured and lazy.

I haven't lived in Buffalo in quite some time, however IIRC, they would switch to this format in the evening from time to time.
Sterling Archer Posted June 29, 2011 Author Report Posted June 29, 2011 Explains why I switched to WECK but the Yankees game is on and I wanted to hear someone else's opinion.
deluca67 Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 The "Best of" is great for those of us who don't have a chance to listen all day. I just wish they would have put WGR on FM instead of WBEN.

Although, I liked the Beddlington Terriers bit.

deluca67 Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 I want it, now! If they want to sign me up I will do the 7pm-11pm shift.

PromoTheRobot Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 WGR is like fast food to me. Tuning in seems like a good idea, then I regret it after. Buffalo desperately needs a decent sports station. PTR

Taro T Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 Would love a comeback of Empire Sports Network When Sabres deal w/ MSG is done, (whether through expiring naturally or buy-out) I could see TP getting something started back up. I'd expect it to be more of a Fox Sports Buffalo than an ESN as there is a lot of capital involved in starting up a full standalone network. (But once the capital has been amortized, it isn't that expensive to keep it going. :censored: :censored: :censored: the :censored: at Adelphia that had a legit offer on the table for Empire but killed it anyway.)

I'm sensing a little hostility there ^ I wouldn't mind seeing a Fox Sports Buffalo/WNY that played the Sabres and Amerks, and maybe some Bison games or other Rochester sports...as long as the channel is on dish network...
spndnchz Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 Would love a comeback of Empire Sports Network Black said at one of his meetings (I think the blogger conf) that the problem is piping in enough sports. Wouldn't be cost effective because of lack of this and advertisers.

I have dish. I watched games last season by going to my sister's boyfriends house. I'd watch the games with him and his dad. not awful...but I would much rather watch at my own house. Plus living out in Dryden, NY (just outside of Ithaca), there aren't many places to go out to watch with friends (it's a hassle to get some of the local bars to change the channel, and in Applebees, they always change the channel on me after th4ey change it for me :censored: )

Assquatch Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 They're teabagging in stereo now? What's the point of teabagging on one side only?

Well even if games were on VS nationally, MSG picked them up locally, so I'd get shafted on almost every game. Sucked. Basketball what? What's the point of teabagging on one side only? You could teabag in Mono...it's just left an right combined...

Same here. Terry was around for the old WNSA I think. Imagine if TP put the same winning mentality into a regional sports channel/radio station? (Instead of the endless woe-is-us crap we get now?) Of course that would leave Jerry Sullivan out. PTR
