deluca67 Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 And it is proof that Darcy is in fact trying to do things. Not only was he kicking the tires on a significant player, he also reached an agreement on that player. If this one has in fact fallen through, I highly doubt that he's just going to give up and not pursue anything else. There is more to come. Area Tim Horton's should refuse to serve Regier until he actually gets something done because "Coffee is for closers."
beerme1 Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 3.5 million for four more years (ugh). Fire the GM. Stajan was garbage long before he signed his last deal and is NOT welcome here under any circumstance. Even if it were with a million dollar cap hit.
North Buffalo Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 Area Tim Horton's should refuse to serve Regier until he actually gets something done because "Coffee is for closers." Agreed, but d4rksabr doesn't seem to get that.
spndnchz Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 “We need to explore all our options. It sounds like Buffalo is great ... but until we see what’s all out there, we can’t make a real good informed decision that we’re comfortable with.” Sigh
spndnchz Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 Fire the GM. Stajan was garbage long before he signed his last deal and is NOT welcome here under any circumstance. Even if it were with a million dollar cap hit. But you'd like Montador, Morrison and Butler to stay?
spndnchz Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 Area Tim Horton's should refuse to serve Regier until he actually gets something done because "Coffee is for closers." Wrong Regier in the way as I see it.
BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 Area Tim Horton's should refuse to serve Regier until he actually gets something done because "Coffee is for closers." I really don't understand how this is on darcy. He had the deal completed, Regher didn't want to make a decision at this time.
Finner Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 From a Calgary Newspaper: "It’s a no to Buffalo — for now. But really, Robyn Regehr’s decision not to waive his no-movement clause on the day of the NHL Entry Draft is more about making sure when he does, it’s the right decision. The Calgary Flames defenceman explained his thought process minutes before the first round began Friday night after speaking with general manager Jay Feaster about the deal pending between the Flames and Sabres — which needed Regehr’s approval to proceed. “I can’t waive unless I see options. I had no options, really, other than this deal. There was never anything other than that. It was a yes or no type thing,” said Regehr, who envisioned a dialogue and the ability to work with the Flames to find a deal that worked for both player and team. That’s still a possibility. “It’s a huge, important decision. I just wanted to make sure I explore as many options as possible,” said Regehr, who also didn’t rule out the Sabres in the future after having multiple discussions with GM Darcy Regier over the last few days. “Darcy Regier has been fantastic,” Regehr said. “We need to explore all our options. It sounds like Buffalo is great ... but until we see what’s all out there, we can’t make a real good informed decision that we’re comfortable with.” The we must be his pregnant wife.

beerme1 Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 But you'd like Montador, Morrison and Butler to stay? Im pretty sure you know my answer to that. I've been railing against Butler all along. My wish is to never see him again. Morrison, was an experiment gone bad and now my wish is to never see him again. Monty I have kind of liked over the years before he got here. Good guy to have in the room I think but we can and will do better so Bye Bye Monty. honestly I have been waiting to see him snap and go gonzo on someone and that hasn't happened and I'm tired of waiting for it. He has been good with us and deserves credit. But he has had many rough spells as well and we don't need it anymore. Next?
BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 When you understand that DeLuca has an agenda/schtick, then it makes perfect sense. i suppose he thinks the world will end next year too.

Yep, and Darcy should have been aware of this and made an assessment that it wasn't a deal he should put much stock in if she had not signed off on it... even then it makes the deal tentative and should have been put on the back burner.
bunomatic Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 Ho hum, yawn! Every year I get all excited about these things and every year Is a let down. My bad for not learning from past mistakes. I figured this year would be different mainly because of all the big talk coming out of Pegulaville and the hockey heaven rhetoric but alas, its more of the same old same old out of Darcy and the boys. Oh well. There's always tomorrow. Lets hope Darcy can improve this club Saturday. :w00t:

If you don't want Monty, Butler or Morrisonn you obviously want someone tougher, which the GM is trying to get.
North Buffalo Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 No next. If you don't want Monty, Butler or Morrisonn you obviously want someone tougher, which the GM is trying to get. But apparently doesn't have the ability to close a realistic deal.
spndnchz Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 But apparently doesn't have the ability to close a realistic deal. It's realistic to the GM of Calgary. The player is still thinking. Listen. I know u guys hate DR, u can't pin this possible failure on him.
BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 But apparently doesn't have the ability to close a realistic deal. again, regier had the deal in place. It's Reghers lady whos got a bun in the oven that likely threw a wrench into the cogs.
beerme1 Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 No next. If you don't want Monty, Butler or Morrisonn you obviously want someone tougher, which the GM is trying to get. I was/am? down with Regehr and if it was truly Byron and Butler, Darcy would have been given a major reprieve. Regehr would bring instant credibility and toughness. Remember how Briere lingers around the net and then suddenly scores? That ends with someone like him. he would be a perfect fit here at a great price. Not to mention the value it would bring to Tyler Myers sitting and playing next to him. I dont see it as the end all though. If it happens awesome. If not there will be other deals coming and this tells me we are going in the right direction. we will get tougher. Miller needs it more than anyone and guys like Butler, well, you know.
shrader Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 Why is it that the event centering around a bunch of 17 and 18 year olds is the end of the line for offseason acquisitions? There's still 3+ months left to go. Hell, the draft itself is still only 1/7 of the way completed. To think that because nothing happened today, nothing will happen the rest of the way is incredibly shortsighted and just downright stupid. Trades happen every single month of the year. They're not just centered around the draft, especially a very weak one.

Intimating something big and then it comes out and is pulled away like a Lucy field goal hold for Charlie Brown... Ouch it just hurts. Night.
deluca67 Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 I really don't understand how this is on darcy. He had the deal completed, Regher didn't want to make a decision at this time. A NMC is a major issue that needed to be addressed much earlier. It puts the franchise in an awkward position. You seriously don't think potential free-agents are going to factor in that a player like Regehr wasn't against leaving Calgary he just didn't want to come to Buffalo in case a better team comes along? This flubbed trade had the potential of moving this franchise forward in a big way. It's Regier's job to get it done. He simply didn't. This is a question for the Capgeeks of the board. Is there anything the Sabres can do as far as an extension to financially entice Regehr? Can they re-do the final years of his contract and add a couple?

Can't negotiate extension until after July 1 of the the current (last) season. ie. Myers can't be re-signed until July 1, 2011.
