Claude_Verret Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 That was probably requested by Carolina. I'm sure it was with the massive Canes STH revolt last season for the Sabres games. They can schedule the games at midnight on Tuesdays and we will be there.
Claude_Verret Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 In Pillage North Carolina arena. Nice!
X. Benedict Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 Nice! That is Taro's coinage, I believe.
buffalohsix Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 Gonna wear out the DVR again this season! 7 total games on sundays and mondays (my nights off). And the worst part of it is i dont have the patience to wait til i get home to actually watch the game! Oh well, at least i get to see the Bills play live. Actually that could prove more depressing than anything else... yeah you might just want to trust in the DVR
Cereal Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 Two Friday night games here in Carolina. This is the first time in a very long time that the Sabres don't play here for a Saturday or Sunday game. It looks like we will all just need to take half days at work to keep our pre-game pillaging efforts to at least 4 - 5 hours. I like it -- I was hoping for fall games @CAR, since I'll be moving away from Virginia in January. Might try to stretch the move until after the Jan. 6 BUF@CAR. We've had all our games @CAR in the springtime recently, no?
Cereal Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 Also noteworthy: Out two games hosting Washington are Thanksgiving weekend and Christmas weekend. Two seasons ago, we were AT Washington those two weekends.

Yes the last two or three years the Sabres have always been down here in the 2nd half of the season for both games. That was probably another request by Carolina to have the Sabres in earlier in the season so the games don't turn into playoff type games with a rowdier atmosphere like this year did.
nobody Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 More word on the realignment cotsonika Nick Cotsonika by wyshynski NHL exec said to expect dramatic realignment in 2012-13. Four time-zone based divisions, two with eight teams, two with seven.

So pissed I'll miss the first of these; flying back that night from vacation. :censored:
shrader Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 As long as Don Cherry doesn't get a division named after him, I'm open to the idea. I guess I'm still shocked that this league hasn't named anything after Gretzky yet.
LastPommerFan Posted June 27, 2011 Report Posted June 27, 2011 I guess I'm still shocked that this league hasn't named anything after Gretzky yet. Because the league owes him Millions after firing him from PHO. They are hardly on speaking terms.
Cereal Posted August 19, 2011 Report Posted August 19, 2011 National TV schedule announced, http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=587086 Sabres' schedule: http://sabres.nhl.com/club/schedule.htm I count 11 Versus games.
repster Posted August 19, 2011 Report Posted August 19, 2011 I pretty sure that there will be 3 Sabres games with no TV coverage this year due to the NHL on VS Game of the Week that are now exclusive for the NHL across the US on Wednesdays (according to the Sabres site's TV coverage article). Last year we missed the Anaheim game for this reason, and this year the Wednesday games are @NJ Dec 28th, vs.Carolina Mar 7th and vs.Montreal March 21st. VS. has a different game on during those dates and times which would cause the Sabres and their opponent to have no TV rights for that game. I will be able to watch the Montreal game from the Habs feed on Centre Ice up here, but there will be no TV with the other two. February 29th in Anaheim is a late start so there would be no conflict with the Pens/Stars game which starts at 7:30. From the NHL on VS wiki site: Included in the schedule is a "Game of the Week" for selected dates. In this "Exclusive" time period, which was created in 2006–07, no other National Hockey League game may be broadcast involving a team based in the United States and, in most cases, no other game is scheduled unless it involves two Canadian teams. Regional carriers are allowed to air games outside Versus' exclusive window.

I'll never understand this part of the TV contracts ...well, I understand the idea I guess, I just think it is unrealistic wishful thinking. Just because they don't put the Sabres game on doesn't mean everyone is going to flock to Versus to watch the Rangers play Washington. The tiny ratings bump they gain has to be outweighed by all the people they piss off because we paid for the Center Ice package and can't see the games.

They need to stop treating hockey like it's football. They don't have the right kind of following or season to make something like this work.
bunomatic Posted August 19, 2011 Report Posted August 19, 2011 The back to backs suck but aside from playing in Europe how many times do they actually leave their time zone? Be greatful we don't have the travel of the westcoasters.
Taro T Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 Wish I could afford Center Ice. I know times are tough. But assuming you already can afford cable / satellite, it is less than $3.10/week over the course of a full year. Hope your circumstances improve.
