Sabres_warpath66 Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 Vanek Roy Stafford Ennis Stastny Boyes Pominville Gaustad Hecht (Leino) Kaleta McCormick Adam (Kassian) Myers Ehrhoff Weber Gregnani Butler Sekera (Mcnabb) Miller Enroth For all of you that believe that the Sabres are going to trade half the team away (Pominville, Hecht, Gaustad, Roy, etc.), you need to wake up. Pegula said that he wants to give the Sabres the Cup within the next 3 years. That doesn't mean we're going to start the whole list of Sabres prospects and trade away past and present fan favorites. I'm hoping our 1st round pick is gone by draft day, since we can't really draft anybody worth while. I figure that the Sabres are gonna need a second line center (Yes boys and girls, Derek Roy is a first line center), and we can find that in Paul Stastny of the Avalanche. Ehrhoff will need a new home, as the Canucks will probably have to choose between him and Bieksa. The Flyers are looking to lock up Bryzgolov, and they need to make cap room. Leino's value right now is anywhere between $2.5-4 million a year. McNabb and Kassian maybe called up this season, but I doubt they will start opening day. Never know these days. In my opinion this is one of the most realistic teams on the site because Richards would probably choose some other team over us *the Rangers* and like I said, Pegula wants to win, but I doubt all the players that you don't like will be gone. I'm really looking forward to Pegulas tenure as owner, and I can't wait to see the final result in training camp. So leave your comments below. Tell me what you think is spot on, and what needs improvement.

I like Roy, but he isn't a real top line Center, however if you have a real top line Center and Roy is on your 2nd line, he is among the best 2nd liners in the NHL. Who are you giving up for Stastny? Colorado has a ton of centers in their organization and will want a top 6 winger, prospects and a pick. Why isn't Gerbe in our lineup? He had the most heart of any player on the ice the 2nd half of the year, is good back checking, clutch, and has 30 goals written all over him. Ehrhoff disappointed me in the Stanley Cup personally.

Colorado has a ton of centers in their organization and will want a top 6 winger, prospects and a pick. At this point I would give up Gerbe or Ennis (oh no, shoot me!). Ennis has proved to be almost like Afinogenov. Fast, great skater but has a pretty weak shot and sometimes just can't finish. And personally, I really think Gerbe's too small. What about St. Louis? Well Marty has ten times the skill, but Gerbe has gained a reputation with the fans who probably see him with a lot of potential. I'd give up either for Stastny. Take one of those guys, take our first round pick, and give up Paul Byron. He's a prospect who has league potential and has proved it. As crazy as this stuff^ sounds, but Paul Stastny is a Team USA player & an NHL all-star. Ennis won us game 6 @ Philly. Gerbe can score every now and then. There's really no comparison if you think about it.

There's really no comparison if you think about it. Ennis has 80 point potential. Gerbe proved he could play in the NHL and play well. If you want Stastny, the Avs are going to want something along the lines of....1st rnd pick, Pominville, McNabb or Kassian as a starting point. The idea that Gerbe is too small but Byron has the potential to be a good NHL'er is a bit off. Byron is also small and doesn't have the muscle or the toughness that Gerbe has. Byron has shown in a few games that he MIGHT be an NHL player. Gerbe did it over about 40 games and had some huge goals in the final home game of the year to clinch a playoff spot and in game 6 to give us the lead. Not to mention the sheer brilliance and determination he showed in MTL when he put Subban on his rear-end after blocking the shot, putting it to center ice and then icing the game with the EN goal.

I can't really give Gerbe that much credit. We would've clinched anyways, as we beat Columbus and Carolina lost their last game. Boucher whiffed on the game 6 goal. Ennis could have high point potential, but to say 80 might be stretching it. If the Aves want Mcnabb or Kassian, they can keep dreaming. But I would give up Pominville. As for Byron, that's my prospect I'd give, and I never said Gerbe couldn't play in the league, just thought he's small. And because of his point scoring ability, his trade value's at an all time high. We spit that name at the Aves, there's the chance that they might not demand very much...

I doubt Colorado is overly interested in Gerbe, he has much more value to our team. Byron is an average prospect. If you aren't willing to trade one of Adam, Kassian, Foligno or McNabb as the prospect included....it's going to be hard to acquire a top line center.
Sabres_warpath66 Posted June 19, 2011 Author Report Posted June 19, 2011 I'd give up Adam if I'd get Paul Stasty. I wouldn't give up Foligno, Kassian or McNabb for almost anybody.

I'd rather have Pavelski over Stastny in . Stastny is a 6.6 cap hit for the next 4 or 5 years and Pavelski who is 2.6 cheaper is nearly just as good a player IMO. If we are going to spend more than 4 million per year on a center, the targets via trade should be.. 1. Spezza. An elite talent. Capable of reaching 100 pts with Van and Staff as his wingmen. 7 mil per. 2. Getzlaf. A very good center who has ideal size and physical game. 5.3 per. 3. Mike Richards. A top end defensive center who can score 30 goals. A complete tool who I dislike but would likely welcome him on this team. 5.7 per.
Sabres_warpath66 Posted June 20, 2011 Author Report Posted June 20, 2011 I can agree to all of those ideas. But 2 out of 4 of those players are captains of their teams, and they represented their country in the Olympics. Spezza and Pavelski are probably both capable pf being brought in and would both be an asset to the Sabres.

Why would the Aves even bother taking a chance with any of the three other prospects? Adam has at least played some games in the NHL and scored a couple of goals. Also, take into consideration the fact that he was on the 2010 Word Juniors Silver Medal Canadian team, and he won AHL rookie of the year.

Because Kassian is fresh out of junior and is still ranked higher than adam on the prospect depth chart.
