I honestly don't think it will be kassian. Probably be a guy like Adam, McNabb or Byron.

breese866 Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 I think Spezza is the most likely candidate for the following reasons: Giving up a first, Pominville/Gaustad/Gerbe and Adam/Kassian/Foligno is to much to pay for Pavelski. He is San Jose's second line center and reaches 60 to 70 points per year. I would give up that much to get Mike Richards, but with the salary cap going up to 64 mill, why would Philly get rid of him, him is one of the best leaders in the NHL and a first line guy. Ottawa is rebuilding. Alfredson is almost done and there is really no one to pair with Spezza in Ottawa in coming years. So, if I were them, why not get the prospects and draft picks and Gerbe to rebuild.

I like him, he has good responsibility on the back end but there is no way a team that is near the cap would trade their reasonably priced centre for an overpaid winger. Even if it means getting a 16th overall pick and a top prospect. Maybe if it was Kassian going the other way they would take that, but would we really want to part with him at this point for Pavelski? I wouldn't.

Fan Favorite and stuff going to a team with lots of talent and we get Pavelski, heres what I think: Kaleta, Sekera, and our 1st for Pavelski. Why? Well I know this will get scoughed at and ripped apart but SJ needs toughness and energy, they have talent up the wazzo, if this rumor is true than they want a guy who can hit and score and be an energy guy (kaleta) because they need the aggravator on their team. Sekera goes because a puck moving defender with some pretty good upside helps SJ yet again. Sure we bag on Sekera but hes solid and each year he has shown improvement and can generate good point totals when properly motivated. Finally SJ gets our first rounder to help them restock. Do they need to shed salary? Not really with the cap going to high. But they do need a puck moving def. and a High energy aggravator to fire them up. Do i think this trade is legit, not really but when I hear fan fav. and SJ thats the conclusion I come too. 3.... 2.... 1.... rip away!

Why dont we just trade miller to them too.... Thorton and Marleau are getting old so NO! Also Marleau plays LW and is older and has less potential to be better in the future than Vanek. This has to be a sarcastic post or I am losing my mind... I'm going to guess the second thing. Marleau: 82gp, 37g, 36a, 73pts, 32yrs old Vanek: 80gp, 32g, 41a, 73pts, 27yrs old Thorton: 80gp, 21g, 49a, 70pts, 32yrs old yea adding 1st rounders and prospects to get Marleau/Thorton makes sense... :censored:

For example, Pominville jerseys probably sell very well, which would be enough to qualify him as a "fan favorite".

With a top center he is 50 goal caliber and a huge Power Play guy.

Reality is, I didn't post the rumor on reddit. It could be hot air for all I know, but I'm going to take a wild guess that there is something to it based on who posted it and what they have stated.... if it turns out it doesn't come to pass, oh well.
