FogBat Posted June 18, 2011 Report Posted June 18, 2011 Paille played awesome in the Cup series. He deserves it just as much as anyone on the Bruins. Who do u think shut down the twins and killed their PP? Yeah. Another player whom the Sabres dealt away/let go who now has a Stanley Cup to his credit. <_<
Marvelo Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 I went to the the Stanley Cup parade here in Boston and it was incredible! There were over a million people lining the streets for three miles.I eked in near the end of the parade and you could hear the roar of the crowd from a couple miles away as they made their way down Boylston St. When they finally got to where I was, it was Thomas in the front of the first duck boat with the cup and Chara waving to the crowd in the back. One duck boat after another, the players looked like they were amazed at how many people turned out for them and showed them the love. This was the day that if you're a player and you're on top of one of those 20 odd-vehicles parading down the street, you're on top of the world. For this one day, the town belonged to the Bruins and to be appreciated and toasted by over a million people at once, well the sight must be grand from a player's point of view. It was easy to pick up on the he exhilaration, excitement and euphoric feeling that if you've been a fan all these years, the wait is worth. Hope the Sabres find this out soon!
Chief Enabler Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Great article. Read it here. I want to focus on this portion of it: A breakdown of the Bruins since 2005-06 Holdovers: Three (Bergeron, Thomas, Krejci) Free agency: Four (Recchi, Ryder, Chara, Thornton) Trade: 11 (Horton, Peverley, Ference, Kaberle, Boychuk, Seidenberg, Paille, Kelly, Campbell, McQuaid, Rask) Draft: Three (Marchand, Lucic, Seguin) Interesting, right? These players stick out in my mind. Any team couldve pulled these deals; every one of them have a leadership captain historical vein to them. Credit to the Julien/Neely culture they quickly developed. Krejci and Marchand were huge bonuses; Peverly worth noting as well.
X. Benedict Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Hilarious! How can anyone be angry that Dan Paille won a Stanley Cup. Looking at how the Bruins were built two words come to mind, opportunity and risk. This is a franchise that took advantage of opportunities when they became available like acquiring Chara and Horton. This was a franchise willing to take risks like acquiring Kaberle and trading away a player like Kessel. Did they bat 1.000 on every move, of course not. I truly hope Terry Pegula was paying attention. There are no rewards without risks and opportunities to acquire top end talent can't be ignored. Those are concepts Pegula needs to instil into Regier for this franchise to be successful. Agree on Paille. However....I don't see any of their trades being high risk moves. Kessel included.
