The Buffalo Sabres have ranked 11th out of 122 sports teams for "Best Franchises in Sports" The Lightning ranked 2nd and the Penguins ranked 10th. Does this change the minds of NHL players wanting to come to buffalo? Also Richards says he wants to come to a cup contender team, Which with all the changes for the Sabres and now ranking 3rd in the nhl for best franchise what do you think????

ESPN. I was looking for the list yesterday but couldn''t find it. It's legit.

ranks all 122 teams from the 4 major american sports leagues, ie. NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL.

rankings are based off of:

Bang For The Buck (BNG): Wins during the past three years (regular season plus postseason) per revenues directly from fans, adjusted for league schedules.

Fan Relations (FRL): Openness and consideration toward fans by players, coaches and management.

Ownership (OWN): Honesty and loyalty to core players and local community.

Affordability (AFF): Price of tickets, parking and concessions.

Stadium Experience (STX): Quality of arena and game-day promotions as well as friendliness of environment.

Players (PLA): Effort on the field and likability off it.

Coaching (CCH): Strength of on-field leadership.

Title Track (TTR): Championships already won or expected in the lifetime of current fans.

The sabres were 42 overall last year, and 13th in the NHL, quite the jump this year!

I'm guessing the players will do like anyone else and base their decisions on word of mouth and well...$$$. If these lists are tied into that then maybe perception will change but it's going to take time. I don't see every top UFA licking their chops to get to Buffalo quite yet.

I do. Monet talks and ###### walks. Don't think Brad Richards doesn't listen to Darcy quibble out a 6 year 8 million per contract.

Am I the only one who thinks Richards-Vanek would be another LaFontaine-Mogilny situation (adjusted for the era, points-wise)? I would love to watch that.

Love the ranking, however, any list that slots the Tampa Bay Devil Rays at #25 while playing at Tropicana, ahead of the World Series winning SF Giants at #32 in AT&T Park, has something funky in its algorithm.

Having said that, one would think the Buffalo's inspired and proactive new ownership is successfully strengthening the Sabres brand and would be more attractive to free agents like Richards.

This is all well and nice and albeit trivial. But, we're still looking for results. I think there may be a few out there who would say that none of this matters unless we get the Cup outright.

Who knows? This year, Boston. Next year, Buffalo.

i was just clarifying where 26 got his info from.

Also, for some reason i seem to think that the work of a mustache that is your avatar is actually yours. Something I've subliminally internalized i suppose.

I can't grow that good of a beard. If you want more info, Google World Beard Championships.

These sir, are precisely the kind of playoff beards we need

Hmmm. I'm not sure they would take us seriously. Besides, after looking at The Tank's and Big Z's beards from the past 2 months, no man can grow one that long that fast.

But, you do make a very interesting observation...

With that kind of facial hair, the holes above Millers shoulders become significantly smaller.
