I.. don't get it either.

Methodology

Using the combined research expertise of Nielsen and E-Poll Market Research, N-Score is an in-depth look at a sports figure’s overall endorsement potential, factoring in the attributes and demographic measures that align brands with endorsers. E-Poll maintains a national online panel of 250,000 people age 13 and up. Each individual N-Score National survey is administered to 1,100 people within that panel via the Internet. The sample is representative of the general population based on gender, income, age, and education

Still doesn't explain to me how TC could be more marketable than Ryan Miller haha. Is this some kind of prank?

The details say "E-Poll maintains a national online panel of 250,000 people age 13 and up. Each individual N-Score National survey is administered to 1,100 people within that panel via the Internet. So they "administer" a survey to 1,100 people ... did they all respond? somehow I doubt it. Also, nothing involving the Internet is fully "representative of the general population based on gender, income, age, and education." Internet users still skew young compared to the general population because most every 13-year old uses it out of necessity like we all used a telephone in the 1980s while anyone 60 and over knows just enough about a computer to be dangerous. So it sounds to me like a couple hundred teenagers who love TC's fancy stuff on their X-Box and PS3s recognized his name ...

Also I assume that this is the same Nielsen that does TV ratings based on the responses of a few thousand people ... which has always amazed me because I am 40 years old and have known ONE whole person who ever participated ... it was a guy I knew who was a grad student from Japan and his favorite show was Columbo reruns on A&E ... this was 1995.

Sorry, i don't trust anything Nielsen comes up with.

I get that it's probably not accurate in terms if the general population, but no matter WHO is given the survey, they had enough "hockey knowledge" to get the rest of the list looking respectable. TC is an 82 OVR on NHL11 and his potential maxes out at a 84 -- it's not like he's some superstar in the game who everyone that plays is going to vote for. It just still seems incredibly random to me. Again, I understand that it obviously doesn't represent how the entire population feels, but it would still take quite a strong % of votes for TC to beat out the names he did to make #6 on the list. More than just a matter of kids seeing his name in a video game lol

It makes no sense no matter how anyone tries to explain it. It's almost other-worldly.

Maybe Larry Quinn has some kind of association with Nielsen and paid to have Connolly put on the list to make Buffalo consider re-signing him for his "potential marketability."

Timmers stats blow in NHL 11, pisses me off he should be better ranked...

I digress, i definitely don't understand the absence of Miller, The Olympics alone should have him soaring above most

Hey I hear ya ... I really should not have tried explaining the unexplainable ... Really, other than Crosby and Ovechkin being in the top 3, the whole thing makes no sense ... the other 8 guys basically have no endorsement deals to speak of ... if this list is to be believed, the ad professionals making commercials with Miller and Kane should be fired.

Then again, when you compare the numbers on that list to the retired guys, it looks like anyone not named Gretzky is pretty much anonymous ... Connolly has a 13 to Brian Leetch's 12 ... Leetch retired 5 years ago .... It doesn't mean Leetch is still marketable, it means Connolly is as UN-marketable as a guy who doesn't even play anymore. I mean, Gordie Howe is 83 years old and supposedly nearly THREE TIMES more marketable than Ovechkin?

First, this whole thing is ridiculous. Second, the only thing I can come up with is that the article made a mistake and meant to put Ryan Miller but instead put Tim Connolly. The Sabres have a bunch of Americans on the team such as Miller, Connolly, Gaustad, Pominville, Gerbe, Grier, Butler, Stafford, Kaleta, etc. I guess one could confuse Miller for Connolly?

I detect the unmistakable stench of graft and payola. Somebody got to these Nielsen panel members and offered them free payroll management for a year and a lifetime supply of Vitalis in return for a Connolly vote. Or else the "end of the world" dude was right and the whole shebang will be over in October. Somethin' ain't right....

Way to deflect attention from yourself. You will go to any length to keep your #19 jersey relevant and your unbridled man love for TC alive.:nana:

I think people see his shaved head, think he has cancer, then feel bad for him.

Figures. He's always injured.

Believe me, if I could find an ounce of merit in these ratings I would totally use this in my argument for the Sabres to keep TC.... but I just can not fathom how anyone could think he belongs there!

Probably this. There is no other reasonable explanation. I don't even think anybody even knows who Tim Connolly is outside of Buffalo, and he is pretty much the least popular guy among his own team's fans.
