Chief Enabler Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 can't say i have ever been to this site before, but twitter linked me to it: http://home.buffalo.com/sports/blog/shipping-jhonas/ Article makes sense with Rask/Thomas combo in the end. At a 1.25 deal, I would be more than happy...
Two or less Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Got to think sabres would also get a pretty high pick. On another note, this frank dude has been wrong a million times. He's been right few times, like about mcchutcheon being fired but he had it on twitter after several sabres sites reported it. Doubt he knew it, he just surfed a forum. Btw, he's also the guy who said rob niedermayer was bout to be dealt to canucks for cody hodgson on deadline day.
Drunkard Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 I'd be open to trading Enroth but we need to get a center out of the deal, whether it's a scoring line center or one who can win the majority of their faceoffs and play good defense to run the 3rd or 4th line.
Lanny Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 The price for Enroth may not be as high as some predict because of his RFA status. A team like Phoenix could conceivably offer sheet Enroth somewhere in the $2M+ range and I could see the Sabres having a hard time matching. The compensation only being a 2nd round pick.

I truly don't see a midget w/ ~ 1 dozen games in the show getting a $2MM+ contract. I expect Inky's right, in that Enroth has more value to the Sabres than he does to others.

The Sabres are probably going to pay him $1M-$1.25M, so for an extra $750k & a 2nd round pick a team that is more concerned with the salary cap floor than ceiling can get a pretty decent prospect at goalie, something they don't have in their system, and they don't have to start at scratch with his development.

Thinking back ....Darren Puppa's first 10 starts the city thought he was all-world.....he was solid, but never as good as those first outings. True story...for years I kept Olympic hero Jim Craig's signature from Salt Lake in the IHL....I have it somewhere.

I don't see why a team would offer Wade Dubielewicz $2-2.25MM when they could get Roloson for ~$3MM or Mike Smith for ~$2.25MM. Enroth has great reflexes and a strong glove hand, he also is MUCH smaller than the prototypical butterflyer. Which means he HAS to be a reaction goalie / hybird goalie. When you HAVE to react, it's a lot easier to find the hole(s) in your game. I think he's going to have to have at least 20 more games (and probably at least 40 more) under his belt before anyone considers giving him the type of money you expect the Desert Dogs to give him. 15 NHL games doesn't really foretell much with a goalie. CallawaySabres Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Anything but a Center coming back or it would be foolish.....

I don't expect them to give that to him, just saying it's an option that exists, or the fact that the option exists lowers his value in a trade. In other words, why give up the center that everyone is claiming it would cost when they could have him for just a little more money and a 2nd round pick? Especially when spending to the cap floor is an issue for them.
sabresnutinphoenix Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 I haven't heard this rumor down here!!!

Which puts both of us on the same page w/ Inky and 90%+ of the other posters in this thread that believe he has more worth to the Sabres than he does to others.
Skibum Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Unless we get Keith Yandle in the deal, forget it. The Yotes don't have a center who scored more than 40 points last season and I doubt Darcy would trade the first promising backup we've had in years, especially with nobody else really waiting in the wings.

I don't think you could pry Turris away from them... But a 6'6" Hanzal centering Kassain and Foligno would be fun to see.
donteatyellowsnow Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 Cant trade Enroth. Positional depth is critical. If you have a stud goalie (albeit a down year, obviously) and a young beast backing him up, you just have to keep that setup. Especially when it was goaltending that kept us in so many games this past year.... Why do people keep saying this? Miller had a normal Miller type year last year, it was the 09-10 (olympic) year that was an UP year for him.
BetweenThePipes00 Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 I think any talk about Enroth getting $2 million can stop with Reimer taking $1.8M/year from the Leafs after carrying the load for half a season and winning 20 games with a better GAA and SVPCT on a worse team. If that is the going rate for that performance, Enroth should get around $1.25 million at best.

Agreed. Yandle is worth getting in return. In fact, I would be willing to give up Enroth and a prospect for the rights to negotiate with Yandle. He's that good and young. While I know we need a center, Yandle is the type of guy you want on your team for years to come. We can get the center elsewhere, hopefully.
