spndnchz Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 In the interwebs today, thought I'd put it out there, would be interesting. I foresaw Enroth playing 25 games next season. Would he be ready to start in Phoenix? What could we get for him? Who would be our backup?
Oakstream Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Why would Buffalo trade their first backup in 100 years capable of winning games? And he's young, cheap, and he was the best goalie prospect when drafted and who knows how good he will be. This doesn't make sense to me.
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 could we get Wayne Gretsky in his prime? I would hate to see us trade enroth without getting a top 6 forward in return plus we really need a goalie that we can depend on to play 25 - 30 games to keep Miller fresh for playoffs.

Nice young big depth center that loves to hit.
HopefulFuture Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Interesting. But with their cap hit so far below the basement amount, wouldn't Miller be a better choice for them? I kid, I kid.... Actually an interesting scenario. I would wonder what the return would be.
Lanny Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 If you're determined to stick with Ryan Miller for the next few years why not sell high on a guy coming off good stretch at the end of last season. Phoenix drafted a 1st round goalie last year, I'd want him back as part of the deal. Free agent backup goalies could include Conklin, Mike Smith, Josh Harding, or Peter Budaj.

I'm not advocating trading Enroth, but you might be able to get great value based on his small but outstanding body of work at the NHL level thus far. Like how the Bills got fleeced by Jacksonville in the Rob Johnson trade.
That Aud Smell Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Phoenix drafted a 1st round goalie last year, I'd want him back as part of the deal. if there's any truth to the enroth inquiry, i bet the 'yotes want enroth to come in and play ~55 games, while the heir apparent gets nhl-ready.
That Aud Smell Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 In the interwebs today btw, stinky linky? even if it is a tweet.
korab rules Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 btw, stinky linky? even if it is a tweet. Tread cautiously. One ill timed typo could end your life. If we can get good value, make the trade. We can't hold on to all our assets if we truly want to improve the team. Somebody has got to go. Used jock straps (very lightly used in many circumstances), overpaid players and draft pick busts won't get it done. We should hire a private investigator to hang out on twitter and get dick pics of all the GM's so we can black mail them into letting us fleece them on trades. I nominate chz!!!

That Aud Smell Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 can't say i have ever been to this site before, but twitter linked me to it: http://home.buffalo.com/sports/blog/shipping-jhonas/

If we can get good value back we can always get a backup on the FA market. Mathieu Garon would probably work for 25 games or so. Any one one of Pho top 3 centers would work for me. I wonder what we might have to add to the deal?
Sherman Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Shane Doan? I know he's older but he can score, will go into the corners for a puck and he is a leader. That is the type of player the Sabres need in their lineup. Also, as I type my description of Doan I think maybe he can help some of our youngsters learn how to be a good power forward in this league.

tom webster Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 I, for one, think Enroth is highly overrated on this board. Without even trying I could come up with 5 other back ups that would have more value. Look what Montreal got for Halak last year as an example.

Without even trying I could come up with 5 other back ups that would have more value. Look what Montreal got for Halak last year as an example. Enroth is just a babe in this league. I would call myself cautiously optimistic that he'll be a solid backup capable of up to 25 games if needed - and perhaps able to spell injuries. I don't see him as #1 option in this league yet.
inkman Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Enroth is worth way more to the sabres than any other franchise, by a long shot.
nobody Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 krufrank Frank Krulicki by JeremyWGR Enroth to Phoex is rumor making the early rounds - Tikhanov possibly going the other way. Hockey's Future link No thanks.

Hockey's Future link No thanks. Agreed. We don't need another RW, and he played part of last season in the KHL? Is he not wanting to play in North America? Pass.
carpandean Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Tikhanov possibly going the other way. No thanks. Well, his Soviet teams did dominate the World (1980 Olympics aside.) ;)
LGR4GM Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Id trade enroth but he isnt worth a whole lot outside of buffalo... idk hard to tell, but phoenix doesn't have much we need so I would be fine with passing here.
TheMatrix31 Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Cant trade Enroth. Positional depth is critical. If you have a stud goalie (albeit a down year, obviously) and a young beast backing him up, you just have to keep that setup. Especially when it was goaltending that kept us in so many games this past year....

Lanny Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Agreed, no interest in Tikhonov, hasn't played in the NHL since 2008-09.
