That Aud Smell Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 Wow, there's so little out there about Ballard that a 5 year old posts pops up? I knew I was important, but not that important. 6th hit.
dEnnis the Menace Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 ballard will sit tonight. btw, when did our erstwhile #1 pick become a #8 d-man? this development is to shrader's great surprise. linkelstilsken (sorry, shrader - but that post pops when you search keith ballard chris drury trade.) I like this...a lot. From an RIT alum to a former RIT player: Go Tanev...and Canucks B-)

spndnchz Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-WQx2N1aXA Meh, not bad.
bunomatic Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 I don't think so.....bad ice is like mud...it neutralizes speed and passing (like the Sedins)...advantage Boston (which is a slow team to begin with). Oh I get it. It makes a fast team slow and a slow team fast. Or the slow team slower which is an advantage to who?
BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 Burrows is losing my respect faster than i ever though possible.
bunomatic Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 The Vancouver crowd wants a penalty called on Salo for high sticking Burrows. Go figure.
Wyldnwoody44 Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 This series is weird, low scoring, then blowouts, then low again.....I missed tonights game, so I don't have much input, but the score said.it all
mrjsbu96 Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 I haven't been on here since BUF was eliminated and I am sure this has been covered but watching Raffi Torres confirms to me that Darcy didn't make a bad move in acquiring him....I don't know reasons why he didn't do squat here, but he is definitely the kind of player I would like come playoff time. (Lindy fault? Just a bad stretch for the player?) I wanted 7 games all along and I think I have switched between who I want to win at least twice, but I think I really want Van city... Boston has just had way too much success for one city for them to deserve one more winner <_<

I agree with you that Torres was the kind of player this team needed, and that Darcy probably takes a little more flack than he deserves over that trade. I don't know who to place the blame on, though, for him "not being shape." Why would you acquire an out of shape player? Didn't he have to pass a physical? Was it a fail on their scouting department? IDK! Regardless, it's all in the past now... I wish Raffi was the player he is now, back then.
darksabre Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 Home ice for Vancouver gets it done again. To be honest, Boston deserves this series. They dominate Vancouver at home, and then go to Vancouver and play one goal games. Boston scares me at home just as much as away. I just think Vancouver can hang better at home with the line change advantage and better ice, but boy does a game seven in Vancouver make me nervous. This series is great!
rickshaw Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 Had to work tonight, but listened to the radio. Seems like the Canucks played a very good game albeit being on the wrong side of the calls. Having said that, everyone was calling for Luongo to not start and look what he does. Thomas has been great for 5 games in this series, Luongo for 3 games. I'll take Luongo's body of work over Thomas'. One goalie has 3 wins, the other just 2. It doesn't matter what the scores are, it's about the W. I'm just glad I can see the final game(s) and only miss the first half.
LaLaLaFontaine Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 6:14 goals but 3:2 wins? This is a statement of effectiveness by the Canucks so far. I have a feeling that Boston will turn it around.

I wouldn't mind seeing a 7 game series with the home team winning them all, it would show that home ice means something....boston has been better, that's for sure, but it only counts on the scoreboard. I didn't think boston stood a chance before this series, but even after game 5, its anyones series to win. Thomas has been amazing and bostons special teams really turned around. Too bad hockey will be over next week

Its funny how that works. With all due respect if you listened to the game and didn't see it you wouldn't know what was missed on both teams to make that judgement unless you're basing this on what the guys on 1040 said which is skewed because they are homers. Sure the canucks took the first 4 disadvantages but they were deserved and by and large were just dumb penalties. There was no advantage given to one team by the refs and it was just a great game to watch all around. Good game for the canucks and a deserved win. Boston played a good hard fought game as well and this one like the first 2 could have gone either way.Luongo played great but through the series Thomas has been the better goalie as he hasn't let in as many goals.Save percentage and goals against average can't be disregarded .

I didn't see the game so yes I am going on what was said on the radio, on the TV afterwards etc. As for Thomas being the better goalie, yes he has been, but he's got 3 losses and Luongo only has 2. Are you telling me that you would prefer Ryan Miller to have a better GA and Save % than the opposing goalie but have less wins than the other guy? My point is, for all the Luongo bashers (and I'm not a big fan of his btw) he's been better when it counted. He's got 2 shutouts and he's the goalie that only needs one more win. We'll see if he gets it or not. And back to the calls. Are you honestly going to tell me that Kesler's penalty, was legit?

You were talking about who has been the better goalie in the series which is clearly Thomas. The wins are a team stat not necessarily a goalie stat. I assumed the better goalie statement you made was about the goalies and their play. Luongo has let in a boatload of goals ,Thomas has let in several. Thomas is the better goalie. Luongo has been absolutely aired out in one game and let in 4 in a 4 - 0 shutout. All of Timmys losses are by 1 goal. Ask anyone on this board who the better goalie has been and by and large everyone will say Thomas. Ask anyone before last nights game going into a 3 game series( based on their play this series) who you would rather have in net and I'm sure most would say Thomas. Luong has the wins but Thomas has clearly been the better goalie. And if based on the Kessler penalty (one play among many)you feel the canucks were given the short end of the stick by the league as far as officiating goes then yes you will probably feel there is a league wide conspiracy against them. You can't please everyone.
dudacek Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 It was a bad call. And Canuck fans act like that's never happened to anyone but them.

It should have been a high-sticking penalty, not goalie interference.

Its funny how that works. ...... Same fecal matter was going on here during the first round gameday threads for Buffalo and Philly. Way too many complaints that the Sabres were getting jobbed on the penalty calls. Reality was, it went both ways. It's not just Canuck fans, it is a malady of fans everywhere. The vast majority of them wear blinders when the ref whistles one against their team.

How many series were decided by the 5-3 before the finals and I may be wrong but I haven't seen any yet in the finals.
