nobody Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 But if you ask the Bruin fan, every single player on the team is a saint. It's a really strange mentality around here. They still manage to complain about the Yankees spending so much money. (I don't know if this has anything to do with your statement but it made me think about it.) I'm sure surveys have done - but I'd guess that there aren't that many fans in the Boston area that rank the Bruins as their #1 team. Overall the Bruins may even rank behind some college sports.

I'm betting most would say the Bruins are #1 or #4. With very few #3's or #2's.
shrader Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 I'm betting most would say the Bruins are #1 or #4. With very few #3's or #2's. 1 is the Red Sox for everyone. The rest of the rankings are up for grabs based on who is winning.
X. Benedict Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 1 is the Red Sox for everyone. The rest of the rankings are up for grabs based on who is winning. That makes sense.
Buffalo Wings Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 But if you ask the Bruin fan, every single player on the team is a saint. It's a really strange mentality around here. They still manage to complain about the Yankees spending so much money. Right...because the Red Sox don't.
Buffalo Wings Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 I'm betting most would say the Bruins are #1 or #4. With very few #3's or #2's. I would think it goes with the season...so right now, it would be as such: 1 - Bruins (obvious reasons) 1a - Red Sox (because they've pounded the Yankees twice this week) 2 - Patriots 3 - Celtics Agree, shrader?
spndnchz Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 I bet Thelma and Louise could kick Milbury's ass. :pirate:
shrader Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Right...because the Red Sox don't. Ummm yeah, that was my entire point. I would think it goes with the season...so right now, it would be as such: 1 - Bruins (obvious reasons) 1a - Red Sox (because they've pounded the Yankees twice this week) 2 - Patriots 3 - Celtics Agree, shrader? No, it's still Red Sox first.
Claude_Verret Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Ummm yeah, that was my entire point. No, it's still Red Sox first. When Patriots fans started yelling Yankees suck at one of their Super Bowl parades that pretty much told the tale with massholes and who ranks #1.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Bobby Orr waving a Horton flag may have been the gayest thing I've seen in quite a while. It makes some anorexic blonde chick singing over Kate Smith seem somewhat classy in comparison.
bunomatic Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 But if you ask the Bruin fan, every single player on the team is a saint. It's a really strange mentality around here. They still manage to complain about the Yankees spending so much money. And if you ask a Canuck fan around here(they are everywhere right now) all the calls against the Canucks are bad calls and all the calls against the bruins are good calls and the refs miss a blatant foul by a Bruin player every 15 seconds or so and never miss anything that the Canucks seem to be getting away with. It drives me crazy when I hear commentators say the fans here are such intelligent fans when its so obvious that a great many of them are band wagon jumpers who know nothing about the nuances of the game. Why would hockey fans here be any more intelligent about the game than in any other hockey mad city? Imo they wouldn't be and its a stupid statement. When a blabber mouth like Glen Healy makes a ridiculous statement during the cbc broadcast about the biased officiating or missed calls that hurt the canucks chances every talk radio show in the province is inundated with idiots calling in about league wide conspiracies against Vancouver. Its gotten to the point of being real tiresome. Oh well, thems the breaks of living in Canuck country and not being a fan of the team. I happily pass on the kool-aid and dream of the day the sabres lay a beatdown on the Canucks or Bruins in the playoffs.
darksabre Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 The ice is what is killing Vancouver right now. Tomorrow night should be much better hockey.
bunomatic Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 The ice is what is killing Vancouver right now. Tomorrow night should be much better hockey. I've heard that but Bostons playing on the same ice surface and if they're as slow as people suggest then they'd be even slower in comparison to the Canucks on the same ice. In both games in Boston the Bruins looked as fast as or faster then the canucks so this excuse just doesn't pan out for me and comes off as exactly what it is, an excuse. And besides the Bruins say the ice in Tampa was terrible compared to theirs and Tampa is a fast skating club.

And it was quite funny how Orr looked out of breath after that whole charade. The way they are talking around Boston and from the post game interviews with the Bruins players, if I didn't know any better I'd assume Horton was run over by the Zamboni and killed.
Guest Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 And the smugness is really gonna be in the air today. After a 3.5 hour rain delay and a 2-0 Yankees lead heading into the 7th inning at 12:50 a.m., they just gave up 7 runs and are getting smoked by the Sox again.

I'm glad someone else noticed. Bobby must be underwater on the mortgage of his summer home for him to do what he did. One of the 10 greatest names in the history of sports, and he takes a dive.

We just had some 90 degree days over here and there was a concert the night before game 4. The ice was just about as bad as it could get in that arena.

X. Benedict Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 I all evens out. Both teams compete on the same ice. I don't think so.....bad ice is like mud...it neutralizes speed and passing (like the Sedins)...advantage Boston (which is a slow team to begin with).
Eleven Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 I don't think so.....bad ice is like mud...it neutralizes speed and passing (like the Sedins)...advantage Boston (which is a slow team to begin with). Yep. It's like playing football in the rain.
spndnchz Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 Yep. It's like playing football in the rain. ...or doin' it on an oiled swimming pool cover...
X. Benedict Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 ...or doin' it on an oiled swimming pool cover... Good point. Hard to find someone that hasn't had that experience!
rickshaw Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 Bad ice obviously affects a team that has more speed than the slower team. The Canucks have only won 8 times all time in Boston, so them losing there wasn't a complete surprise. Game 5 is the big game and the winner probably wins it all. Sure am happy I have to work my lone night shift this week, tonight! <_< Guess it's radio tonight.
That Aud Smell Posted June 10, 2011 Report Posted June 10, 2011 ballard will sit tonight. btw, when did our erstwhile #1 pick become a #8 d-man? this development is to shrader's great surprise. linkelstilsken (sorry, shrader - but that post pops when you search keith ballard chris drury trade.)

Wow, there's so little out there about Ballard that a 5 year old posts pops up? I knew I was important, but not that important.
