RazielSabre Posted May 25, 2012 Report Posted May 25, 2012 Yes, he's in Rochester next year, unless he somehow amazes out of camp and earns a job with the big club. It will be year 1 of that 3 year deal. You can sign them early, but it doesn't count as a year until they play 10 games at the professional level. I guess technically he could return to juniors as an overage player, but there's no sense in that since he is now old enough to play in the AHL. Ah ok, thanks for the clarification. I am really interested to see what moved Darcy will pull, we're stacked at D and this 'new' Darcy has been quite interesting to watch.
5th line wingnutt Posted May 30, 2012 Report Posted May 30, 2012 I watched all 4 of Edmonton's Memorial cup games and I am not sure Pysyk is going to amount to much. He made a few good plays here and there but nothing that jumped out at you. He also got overwhelmed physically a few times. At his age and experience level he should have been much better. Not the droid we were looking for. P.S. I hope I am wrong. Anyone else watch the games? Thoughts?

(A la last years Myers vs. his first year) he's not a risk taker when it comes to skating the length of the ice. He'll lead the rush unless other options are there. Pysyk has a bit of a mean streak in him. Many, or more than a few, times he was pushing guys away from his goalie. Pysyk is a PP guy. Not as much the hard slapper but a seeing eye wrist shot. Should be a good D-man for Rachacha next year.
TrueBlueGED Posted May 30, 2012 Report Posted May 30, 2012 I like Pysyk's game a lot personally. He isn't the type who is going to jump out at you on a consistent basis--he doesn't have electric offensive talent nor does he have a huge and bruising physical game. But he is really well balanced and a terrific skater. I'd be surprised if he ever ends up a multiple time All-Star or a franchise defenseman, but I think he definitely projects to be a shut-down pairing guy who can play the second PP unit.

He made one good rush on the PP that I remember but got knocked down at the end and did not get a shot. The Edmonton PP was 1 for 15 (or something like that) so I did not see much there. Did not see the mean streak either. He made a good stretch pass on the lone Edmonton goal in the second Shawinigan game. He will get a good look in Rochester next year. We will know much more next year at this time.
