X. Benedict Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 I can't imagine the AHL being too happy with the Winnipeg ownership owning Vancouver's affiliate. Maybe it'll be a one year thing, but it can't last. St. Johns has to wind up affiliated with Winnipeg. That's a really interesting scenario, isn't it?
shrader Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 That's a really interesting scenario, isn't it? That and if they do somehow stay affiliated, Vancouver's AHL team just got moved to the other end of the country. Someone suggested Vancouver-Portland, but either way, that's one hell of a travel bill when they call someone up.
spndnchz Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Ramsay for head coach? I know we're still waiting for our new assistant to be hired, which could be Ramsay, but would he prefer to be a head coach in the AHL vs an assistant NHL coach?

I know we're still waiting for our new assistant to be hired, which could be Ramsay, but would he prefer to be a head coach in the AHL vs an assistant NHL coach? Interesting idea. It probably depends on his contract. I think he has another year of pay coming....and Just a hunch but I don't imagine that after surviving cancer he would be much interested in long bus rides to Wilksbury and Norfolk.
KeithLGA Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 You should let us determine that. That's cool.. I'm open to being judged, just making the comparison that he writes on his own site like I do and neither of us are associated with some massive news corporation.. I've been writing about the Amerks since the end of the 06/07 (press creds for past three seasons) and have my finger on the pulse of what goes on. I just hope my real job schedule changes so I can go to more games.

KeithLGA Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 That's cool! I guess I should know what you guys REALLY thought of Chris Roy before I compare myself to him. lol
X. Benedict Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 That's cool! I guess I should know what you guys REALLY thought of Chris Roy before I compare myself to him. lol Chris was great. But .....expect the same underserved crap he got. A little thick skin will go a long ways. Looking forward to your stuff, Keith.

That is why Chicago is now looking for a new parent club.
Weave Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 That's cool! I guess I should know what you guys REALLY thought of Chris Roy before I compare myself to him. lol Chris had some inciteful stuff posted here. He didn't really do much player or team evaluation, mostly he just reported game results, or news about what was happening with different prospects. And the great majority of the posters really appreciated being able to read up on what was happening with the prospects. Overall, Chris did a pretty decent job of keeping us informed about our prospects.
KeithLGA Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Exactly. The NHL owned Winnipeg team already owned the AHL franchise of the Moose which is why they're staying affiliated and moving to St Johns. The change in affiliations will all be official at the AHL BOG meetings next week. The idea of Mike Ramsey to coach the Amerks came from a very reliable source who'd have no reason to make it up.. may sound odd coming from new guy you guys never really heard. One thing we don't want in Rochester is just to "develop" players, we want to win (a no brainer?) I have to imagine if this happens Ramsey was told there would be the same desire to win a cup in the AHL as there will be in the NHL.

That may not be what you want but as a Sabre fan that is more important to me. Having said that, I do understand that winning helps development.

KeithLGA Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 Are we talking about Mike Ramsey or Craig Ramsay? Mike. Yes, I know he quit the Wild to be with family, we'll have to wait and see.

wildcat48 Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 Sabres to announce deal to purchase Amerks Published on: 24th June, 2011 by Chris Roy Portland, ME – In what has been a poorly kept secret over the last several weeks, it appears the Buffalo Sabres days in Portland are about to come to an end. Several sources have indicated to Maine Hockey Journal that an announcement could come as soon as tomorrow that the Buffalo Sabres have purchased the Rochester Americans for an undisclosed sum expected to be in the range of five million dollars. shrader Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 For wildcat's sake, I really hope that Portland doesn't wind up with the Panthers. He's been a great asset to this board so I would never wish that upon him.

spndnchz Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 DandC reporting a 1PM conference call with AHL BoG to vote.
