I think Spezza gets tentative on defense in pressure situations, so the Sabres definitely don't need him. I like Pavelski, but I really want the team to focus on centers. And Stamkos would cost way too much (think Miller, Myers AND Ennis).

I guess I'd trade for Spezza, but I wouldn't give up a lot for him. Two players, excluding Myers and Miller, and neither of whom can be a center (because that would not help the shortage) or a defensive forward (because someone's going to have to cover for Spezza in his own zone in the playoffs).

Im not too interested in spezza at all, he doesn't want to be in buffalo and that could turn into a willis mcgahee situation real quick. I would love to try and trade with Calgary, Iginla would be a nice piece, I know that just dreaming. There are plenty of moves that could be made, it just depends if darcy grew some stones after new ownership, or if he's still dangling fish tank pebbles in his crotch. Im very interested to see what happens.

Aigght so if Spezza is to needed in Ottawa to be traded (absense of Mike Fisher). Lightning want to much for Stamkos. And theirs no leverage against San Jose to aquire Pavelski. Drury's old. Laich isn't ready to be a #1 center. Ritchards is to pricey. Weiss doen't wanna be anywhere except Toronto. Carter looks like he's headed to Colmbus. What are some realistic options? What are our first two lines going to look like next year?

Probably not much different then this year, except swap Connolly for Roy...........

July 1st can't get here fast enough.

What's all this talk about July 1st? There's even a thread about it. Does something usually happen on this day that I should know about?

Except Pominville probably won't be ready for the start of the season so maybe Lindy will put both on the 1st line.

Can we just forget Stamkos already!? TB is not giving him up period.

I like Pevelski, but SJ will want alot to get him. Don't think Buffalo will target any of these three.

I'd obviously want to trade for Stamkos but there's virtually no chance of that happening and even if we did we'd give up our whole team. Where's Malkin on this list? He looks very tradeable right now and in my opinion would be worth our money to rrade for him than overpaying Brad Richards to come here. We should be doing anything we can to get Geno.

i swear to god that there is an entire thread about JULY 1 and what we should or should not do. Spezza for Roy is the worst idea I have ever heard, let alone along with ennis.

How about this: Pysyk, Sekera, 2 first rounders, and pommers (who has lots of value for this team) to Pittsburg for Malkin

Or: Sekera, and a 1st for Jordan Stall.

There are now 4 threads dedicated to this topic. Sweetness.

I just had a thought, whats Jordan Stall worth to Pittsburg? They could fill that 3rd line center roll with a guy for 2mil instead of stalls 4 and we have some young defenders that they might like... Forget Malkin for a moment. Pittsburg realized that they need to create some genuine scoring lines. They have Neil Malkin and Crosby but what if they dumped some cap in stall and brought in a 2-3mil a year guy to fill out those lines? Its a different idea but I like it more than i did 20 minutes ago.

My how they grow up.

I remember well those halcyon days in February when a certain new member used to start thread after thread after thread about the up coming trade deadline and his affinity for certain out of reach centers.........

How the time flies.

...actually i started 2 threads and it wasnt every freaking day. Also there wasnt a thread dedicated to the trade or the 1 st of july. At least I allow myself to hope that this team does get someone really good, as opposed to negatively bitching about the team and saying things like pommers whos a 60-70a year pt winger is garbage. I'll dream and hope, you moan and complain, that way we will balance eachother out.

The problem with all your trade theories is that you seem to keep trying to move pominville. The only reason ANY team would move a player like malkin is because of cap trouble. Pominville is not a solution to cap trouble. It's not a problem with his numbers, its an issue with his payroll that makes him a less tradeable asset.

DEAL! Where do we sign to make this happen?

Sidney Crosby. He's a guy that very few people know. Kinda one of those journeyman center types. We can get him cheap too.

I like this idea. I think we should trade as many forwards and defensemen as we can to get all 4 Staals on our team. That would be kinda cool.

Relax kid. It was all in fun. I'm laughing with you, not at you.

I think if Crosby wasn't still seeing tweety birds fluttering around his head that a Staal move might be possible. Pitt is short on wingers and we have a surplus. But Crosby is riding a bike instead of his usual offseason routine, and is Malkin over his injury? I'm betting Pitt doesn't move any centers until they are confident they have at least two of them healthy and up to full steam.
